Earthset

The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon. The Apollo 8 mission was the first crewed spacecraft to circumnavigate the Moon.

Welcome to the Far Side of the Moon

A crescent Earth sets behind the Moon.

On April 6, 2026, the Artemis II astronauts flew around the Moon, observing the far side – which we never see on Earth thanks to tidal locking – with their own eyes and with cameras.

One last look at Earth before we reach the Moon. This view of the Earth was captured on April 5, the fourth day of the Artemis II mission, from inside the Orion spacecraft. The four astronauts will reach their closest approach of the Moon tomorrow, April 6.

While we're looking up at the Artemis II astronauts journeying to the Moon, they're looking back home at us. 

In this image, Earth peeks through the capsule window, reminding us that a view like this relies on the ingenuity and hard work of countless people back home.

In the second image, we see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere.

Hello and welcome to my tumblr.

I’m Nance and I will be the author to this little corner of the tumblr sphere.

It’s 2026, and after a decade I’m finally archiving my previous blog - @endlessatharian - to start afresh here. It’s feels both weird and right to start afresh, but the first day of the new year is probably the best time to start right?

I’m not sure how much posting I’ll be doing on here - I’m toying with making this part personal/ part indie rp to keep things active but we’ll see how things play out. You may see some liveblogging, post reblogs, some bookish things, photography and random writings (fanfiction mainly but possibly others).

The main two Faceclaims you’ll probably see on here (either for mun fc or for roleplay purposes) are Lily Collins & Britt Robertson. Examples below:

I’ve been using both for years in rp settings and I have a collection of gif icons I’ll likely pull out now and again. If I do decide to add the roleplay aspect to this blog, Britt will be the character FC as I have child and adult fc’s that I have on hand.

Wow, this post is getting long 😶‍🌫️ but yeah, I figured I’d best post something for the new year.

I hope you stick around if you like what’s being posted.

You may see some liveblogging of the ST finale later (or just me reblogging reactions from the finale who knows at this point) so I’ll see you on the flip side.
