One prominent heist and suddenly everyone is an expert in provenance.
You’re a victim of a heist? Are you French? Did you work at that museum? How does this affect anyone besides the museum itself? Which, if what I’ve read about it is anything, had kinda shitty working conditions. What am I missing here that makes me and you and the rest of The People victims in this?? I’m really struggling to understand this point. It’s sad that art was stolen, sure, it sucks it might go to a private owner, but how many of The People were ever going to see it in person in the first place? The heist has probably made more people aware of its existence and importance than anything ever has. Honest to god, what am I missing?
if art is in a museum. anybody could theoretically see it. the Louvre is one of the most-visited museums in the world, my guy. could everyone see it in their lives? no. but the option was OPEN to anyone
if art is destroyed or privately owned by a billionaire who got it via shady channels. nobody- or only that billionaire and their billionaire friends -can see it again. ever
like I don't know how much clearer I can be
and there's a massive irony that so many people on the Eat the Rich website are just...okay with that
because HeeHee HooHoo Ladder and Saw. or Fuck France (International Visitors Don't Exist or Something). or I'm A Short-Sighted Asshole Who Doesn't Acknowledge Any Art Besides Paintings and Statues whatever
museum heists are not Robin Hood plays. museum heists are not Eating the Rich. museum heists are FEEDING the rich art and cultural heritage that previously, anyone could theoretically see and learn from and be inspired by
I’m going to keep beating the “you guys don’t understand museums at all and the memes are actively harming any work done to improve things” drum until it enters the public consciousness as much as “did you know the Egyptian gods didn’t have animal heads?” I did it once and I’ll do it again.
Don’t just post a meme or think bringing up the BM at every opportunity counts as activism. Learn about how these places work from the multitudes of museum professionals and academics that exist on the internet. They’re more than happy to tell you about all the good and bad things that museums are. Then at least if you’re fighting for change, you actually know what you’re fighting for rather than posting half baked hot takes.
why did they make bridgerton a show and not a lisa kleypas series
black silk judith ivory continues to be my favorite het historical romance bc it dares to ask the question -- what if your late pseudo-stepfather who hates everything you stand for has a really hot widow? and what if you and the hot widow form a relationship based on your mutual psychosexual obsession w this dead old guy?
Yesssssss finally someone with discerning taste. There is not enough love for Cuevas/Ivory, which is a shame because her books are not only wonderful character studies they are incredibly cinematic as well. There are so many scenes in Black Silk that I can see so clearly in my memory it’s as if I have watched them on film.

What to boycott NOW to help stop Israel’s unfolding genocide of Palestinians in Gaza
We call on our supporters to strengthen our targeted boycott and divestment campaigns to maximize our impact!
Reminder that boycotting DOES work, there is historic proof! Don't let anyone discourage you otherwise!
The BDS movement uses the historically successful method of targeted boycotts inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the US Civil Rights movement, the Indian anti-colonial struggle, among others worldwide.
We must strategically focus on a relatively smaller number of carefully selected companies and products for maximum impact. Companies that play a clear and direct role in Israel’s crimes and where there is real potential for winning, as was the case with, among others, G4S, Veolia, Orange, Ben & Jerry’s and Pillsbury. Compelling such huge, complicit companies, through strategic and context-sensitive boycott and divestment campaigns, to end their complicity in Israeli apartheid and war crimes against Palestinians sends a very powerful message to hundreds of other complicit companies that “your time will come, so get out before it’s too late!”
Please reblog! Spread this! There is an effort by zionists to discourage people from boycotting! Don't let them trample your spirits and help us in the fight for a liberated Palestine!
An organization I like to donate to is the National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women, the only org in the US that works to defend victims of domestic violence who have been charged with crimes, usually for harming their abusers in self-defense, “failing to protect” their children in dv situations or “kidnapping” their children while fleeing violence. Thinking about them as we’re thinking about legal retaliation against domestic violence victims!

The people looking for justifications of cops murdering black people are the same people who screech “what happened to innocent until proven guilty?!” every time an abusive white man gets cancelled (held accountable) for his behaviour. The cognitive dissonance is real...Real fucking depressing
People say "Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor" but don't even know who those cops are.
Their names are Brett Hankison, Jonathan Mattingly, and Myles Cosgrove.
ARREST BRETT HANKISON, JONATHAN MATTINGLY, AND MYLES COSGROVE.
WHAT’S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN BELGRADE, SERBIA
Due to the global pandemic situation, during March and April Serbia was on the list of countries with most extreme epidemic measures, conducting several weekend-long curfews and daily lockdowns.
Starting with May 7ht, almost all measures were revoked, large public gatherings were encouraged. Football games with 20k visitors organized, concerts, celebrations…all with the same goal: Share a message that it is OK to be in a crowd.
Reason:
Serbia 2020 Elections.
A day after the elections (which were traditionally forged), real numbers about COVID19 victims and active cases appeared, showing that more than 50% of it were covered up.
The Serbian goverment has openly lied to its population and world’s most important health institutions, generating a public image that we have the situation under control.
Realising that the numbers are spiking again and the situation is alarming, few days ago president dramatically changed the policy and announced the new 48h lockdown for the weekend and BELGRADE COULD NOT SIT IN SILENCE.
The demonstrations weren’t a result of people not wanting to be locked down, but a result of our distrust of the authorities. The authorities have been fickle in their statement about the pandemic. They’ve been changing the measures as they needed to fit their interest, hiding information from us, spreading panic when there was no reason for it and hiding the seriousness of the situation when there WAS a reason for it.
This is a result of the way they communicate with us, the way they play with our lives and a result of a lack of sincere democracy.
The police have pepper sprayed (20+ canisters) the crowd and beat them with sticks, women, girls, children, they didn’t even looked.

Wow. Just wow.
A friend of mine posted this and tagged my old instagram account, asking me to share it. I figured sharing it here where I actually have a following, would be far better.
Please remember that just because the government is giving into pressure and greed, that doesn’t mean that any of this is getting any better, in a lot of ways it’s getting worse. And even if you yourself aren’t being as heavily affected anymore, there are people and communities that are.
Stay safe Darling ones, and help others remain safe too.
Edit: Please reblog the versions with the links.
