all the hours you wait - patience (Wayne, New Jersey)

all the hours you wait is a screamo band from Wayne, New Jersey. Their debut release is an EP called patience. It was recorded in Gili Traster’s basement and mixed by Sean Scognamiglio. It’s being put out on cassette by Friendly Otter.

Gili Traster - Drums

Alec Duncan - Bass/Backup Screams

Sean Scognamiglio - Guitar/Screams

The opening track, Whiterwater, was, at first, slightly reminiscent of Old Gray’s demo. Upon further inspection, athyw was revealed to have their own unique take on modern screamo. Duncan provides a grooving bass line and some really sick, gritty and aggressive vocals by Scognamiglio, who never seems to fall off track, adding wonderful, jammy riffs that induce a necessity to dance. 

Paltra really shows off Traster’s spastic, hard-hitting drum capabilities and highlights Duncan’s bass attributes. With assailing vocals and a captivating hook, Paltra proves a short-but-oh-so-very-sweet showcase of a song.

Wraith gave me a Dead Kennedy’s impression for a second and turned into what I would think was a Splintered Hands track but with worse mixing. The record’s longest song proves to be a jerky piece with melodic bridges, still appealing nonetheless. 

Goodluck Jonathon comes packed with twinkly riffs and pleading vocals. Honest lyrics and a damn cool bass line drive this track forward and end it all the same, putting a stop to a very promising record.

FINAL WORDS: all the hours you wait bring a solid demo to the table. With some recording issues and general two-dimensionality, the record has room for improvement but is still worth every second and all the extra hours you’ll be waiting jamming this album. Very excited for new material.

Friendly Otter is a label from chicago that will be putting out patience on cassette, which is going to be pretty neato. We don't have a whole lot of info to share right now but more details will come soon
