Hiatus Update #2

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday, or at least enjoyed the chocolate like myself. I'll be opening back up after the third update, but for now I do have some changes I'd like to make to how I did this blog. Opinions and advice welcome!

First, I'm thinking of no longer doing greeting posts. This is because I'd end up with so many RPs, many random, that I would feel overwhelmed and have a hard time replying. To compensate, I'm thinking of putting up more Open RP posts that anyone can reply to.

Second, I'm considering queue'ing storyline threads, just to space them out, and otherwise responding normally to short or brief or random or w/e RPs.

Hiatus Update

Hello once again everyone! My apologies for the lengthy departure. I plan to resume RP on this blog soon, though there will be some changes. For now, know that I will return, and thank you all for your patience.

Whoops, he was noticed! Nick offers the man a sheepish smile.

"Uhh, s-sorry…" Please don’t beat him up, he is but a young lawyer with a long life ahead of him, and a shiny badge.

But just like that, the frown disappears from his face as he’s spoken to.

"Oh, don’t worry about that, mon cher! Let’s say… that I’m used to it.”

If Nick thought the guy was creepy before, then it just got worse. Was that another fake French accent he had to deal with?

"... Uhh... a-anyways, I'll... stop bugging you and..." Run as soon as he was out of sight, if he could get away.

"Oh, yeah I’m free." Daniel agreed. "Should we go?"

"Sure. It’s just this way," Nick responds, heading for the building that houses the office. Hopefully, his alternate would be in; if...

"Nope I'm fine." He gave the elder a polite smile. "But I have been curious why you've been keeping quiet about who your coworkers are. They can't be

that strange, can they?"

"Errr, well..." He supposed this kid should know before he was surprised.

"You see... we're all sort of the same person. Or rather, uh... alternates stuck together. Basically, the only attorneys working here are all Phoenix Wrights."

Hershel faltered at the question, twitching slightly as he drew back a step.

"She would… understand, I’m sure." He said uncertainly. It wasn’t something he contemplated often, and when he thought about her personality he honestly couldn’t see her forgiving him after what he’d done. But something in him refused to give up, refused to let him stop because he was so close to saving her…!

“But she wouldn’t need to forgive me. The minute I save her the timeline would correct, adapting to the new events. Either I or my timeline would no longer exist. I imagine my little device would stop working, at least. Forgiveness no longer matters, nor would I be eligible for it… All I want is to stop the explosion from ever happening. I would be saving the lives of ten people, not just my Claire.”

To his surprise, it seemed Layton didn’t like that question. Was there anyone left to even question him, other then Luke?

"… I see. So you’re justifying it because it will all go away tomorrow. Somehow, I doubt your girl would understand. What if you remember, Layton? What if, somehow, you remember doing all this?" Maybe he could get through. Maybe there was hope for this timeline.

"And how would you know what she would think?" He growled. "I ‘justify’ it by the fact I’m saving lives - so what if I damage a few lives now; if I’m successful it won’t matter - they’ll never have to happen in the first place-!”

After that, Hershel was silent for several moments, thinking and simultatiously avoid Phoenix’s eyes because why was he continuously looking at him like that? The expression nagged at his conscience - most people gazed at him in either fear or hatred. Not… whatever the devil that was. Some manner of pity? He didn’t want to look long enough to find out.

“…And, I would be able to put it off as some grand nightmare. without physical evidence I’d done anything Claire would convince me it was all some nightmare…” He straightened, focing himself to return looking at the other man while ignoring whatever was behind Pheonix’s stare. “And anyways what good would come of stopping now? I’m ten years into this project; feeling bad about things now would be seen as weakness. I have enemies, you know - they’ld tak it as an invitation.”

Did no one think to stop this man beforehand? Or did he not listen? Was it Phoenix' sudden, altered appearance, or merely the cumulation of stress? Whatever the case, his words were having an effect. Would it be enough?

He stares at the ex-Professor, staring into his eyes even if Layton tried to avoid his gaze.

"That doesn't change what you did to get her back," he points out simply, even throwing in a casual shrug, "Why not stop yourself from even doing this, instead? Save yourself years of guilt."

"Hello! Are you a baseball player?" Clearly, the best way to start a conversation is to ask the supposedly obvious question.

"Yes, I suppose you could say that. Baseball is a side hobby of mine." The Batter chuckles softly at the mans enthusiasm, holding out a hand to the other, "I’m The Batter, might I ask for your name?"

"Oh..." But why was he dressed as a player? Why was he called 'The Batter'? So mysterious!

"Oh! I'm, um, Phoenix. Phoenix Wright! But my friends call me Feenie."

"That’s good to— wait, a letter? Did he move?" Close, Phoenix, but no cigar. At least he guessed somewhat in the Wright direction.

"Or… did you move?" That would explain why he’s able to run into Luke at all. Sort of. Weird stuff happened to him so much that he could still be wrong.

Puzzle solved celebration noises. Good job Mr. Wright! Now onto the part where Luke actually had to explain this…

"Y-Yeah, after that uh. Mobile fortress stuff, my family and I moved to over here in America. Oh! Not that it was related to that at all. Dad just got a really good job offer, and Mum wouldn’t let him turn it down."

"I suppose I live closer to you now, so it can’t be all bad!” Honestly, before he’d met with Mr. Wright again, he thought he’d never have a friend over here.

"Oh... uh. So, what does your dad work as now?" Hopefully nothing related to destructive mehcanics. But, Luke did bring up a good point. Phoenix had another young person to hang around! Maybe he could introduce the boy to Pearls?

"True! It'll be just as exciting as having the Professor around, just you wait!" Assuming he got a case, and assuming that case wasn't mundane.

It wasn’t often that Phoenix wandered by this section of town, but when he did, he did so as casually as usual. The scruffy former attorney, however, was getting lost; not a normal problem for him. He looked around for some random, likely person to ask for directions, and proceeded to approach. After all, who wouldn’t help a guy who looked homeless? A lot of people.

Jason was already walking down back to his hotel where he will be staying, until he heard someone approach him. He turned to see a scruffy man who…who looked like he needed something (otherwise why wouldn’t someone walk up to him? Unless they managed to recgonize him that is and that has yet to be achieved). 

"Um…Can I help you…?" he asked with a raised brow.

"Yeah. Where's People Park from here?" he asks, rather bluntly of course. No need to waste this young man's time. Or maybe he would; he was pretty bored right now.

  He saw that look of determination in those eyes and a smile crept up on his face. Clive could feel an intellectual (or in the least, interesting) conversation on its way. The ex-convict is more than ready for this and he’s more than ready to hear another one of Layton’s adventures.

"I know Luke went on many adventures, but I don’t think I’ve heard of yours. Perhaps we should…" He put his hand on his chin. "So how do you think we should go about exchanging stories?" Maybe a puzzle? A battle of wits? Or just casual banter?

"Hrmm..." Clearly, this kid wanted some sort of intellectual challenge, which Nick expected. But to be put bluntly? Already, he was at a bit of a loss. But he always operated from a loss at the start! Hahaha... ha...

"Uhhh... we take turns?" Phoenix no don't lose the momentum.

"... Or... a battle of wits of some sort?"

"Well… wait," the young not-attorney glances into the office, then turns back to Apollo, "No, we’re in my alternate’s time right now, I think. And… well, I’m from the past, sort of, but in a different timeline." He was far too used to explaining this, even if he was getting sloppy about it.

"Wanna come in the office and see? I think it looks different in the future. Depending on the future." He frowns in thought before stepping back, letting Apollo see the old office if he wanted.

Yup, this certainly was a sloppy way of explaining things to somebody who had little to no knowledge of alternate timelines. It didn’t seem as though he was lying to him though, so he would just have to grasp at what was given to him.

"I guess I could take a look at the office. If it’s the exact same way it was when I left though, I’m going home for the evening." If the office wasn’t the exact same way it was when he left, well he wouldn’t know what to do.

Apollo took a step into the office and took in the view. “…It actually looks like an office.” It lost some of the coziness the Anything Agency had, that’s for sure. It had more of a business-like effect to it, although it was still messy.

Phoenix frowns a little, but he can understand Apollo's reluctance. He found it all hard to believe, too, when... everything started. But as the red attorney looks around, the not-attorney relaxes.

"Yup! Phoenix said he was keeping it pretty similar to how... how Mia had it..." he mumbles, slumping. That was a sad train of thought, and not something to get into now! 

"Uh... ... so... I can try and help you with stuff, I guess..." Nope, his mood has been ruined already. Good job, Nick.

"Ah, I see." That answered both, anyway. Crap, now what?

"… Uh, so. How’s life?" Good job, Nick. Good job.

           ”Good,” she said with a laugh, reaching up and patting his shoulder. “How’re you doing, Phoenix?”

"I'm doing good. Working on a couple cases... have you ever been to a courthouse before?" he asks, getting an idea.

(That guy looks… really weird,) thinks the attorney to himself, rather rudely staring.

A frown slowly spreads across his face as he’s stared at, and his pupils, though not visible, dart down to look at himself to see if there’s anything wrong with him. Nothing he could see.

The Burnt quirked an eyebrow, returning a stare of his own without a word.

"That makes sense," he responds, though he was far from an avid reader… unless one counted court documents.

They were nearing the library, and he motioned to it as they drew closer, “There it is. They won’t let you check books out for as long without a card, but it should still be enough.”

"Thank you sir." Mari states, looking around again.

"No problem. Did you need anything else?" he asks, smiling. Phoenix didn't mind helping random people, after all.
