little ol’ eli decided to expand her boundaries and actually join a group of coworkers on a delivery mission! the cargo they were to deliver? four crates of kurg manure. considering the money they’d be getting it seemed almost too easy.
OOC: The next Voidrunners Open Office event will be hosted Tuesday 9/8 at 18:30 UTC (19:30 BST, 20:30 CEST) at our ship depot Voidrunner Station located on the skyplot of Aliette Harkens on Jabbit, Exile side!
This was really beautiful, and a great introduction to Isabella seeing as I didn’t know that much about her. Love it!
Well first off, aww, thanks you! I swear barely anyone reads the things I write most of the time.
Anyway, one of the common themes to Isabella’s characterization is that Nexus has ruined her. She’s seen and been through too much. Seeing the war up close for the first time, the Strain, being hunted and nearly murdered, having friends get kidnapped and nearly die, nearly dying herself, and so on.
She’s gradually just grown more cynical, more pessimistic over time. She’s been given precious few reasons not to.
You’re very welcome dear. I know the feeling, I find I mostly write things about Ally for my own sake nowadays. It helps me understand and RP her better and makes her and her world make more sense to me. I post them public in the off chance that someone else would find it interesting.
And I can totally relate to Nexus ruining people. It’s happened to both Ally and Lianora in a way and I’m sure any other characters I make would be up for a rude awakening as well. Cause, I mean, it’s not like there’s some outside force deciding their actions and making all these horrible things happen to them... >_>
I’m not a very good reader (even though I seem to have a tendency to never stop writing) but I’m gonna start reading up on your other stuff. I have a special love for Cassian society and I find your perception of it and the whole setting to feel very similar to my own. So please keep writing!
*static, then bleeps and beeps, people talking in the background and the faint sound of engines. Ally speaks in a hushed tone*
Hi again! So, I wanted to like, intraduce ya to the people who runs thin’s aroun'ere. Miss Barkley said it was okay if I just hung aroun' the cockpit for like a short while an' so.
*a female voice in the background*
Yes Ally, I did. But you still have work to do you know.
*Ally:* Yeah yeah I kno'! Don' worry, I'll get right to calibratin' once y'all have said hi. Okay, so tha's miss Jennifer Barkley, or miss Jen as she says I should call'er.
*Jen:* Not miss. Just Jen. Ally you don't need to be so formal all the time, you've been with us for quite a while now.
*Ally:* Oh, sorry mi... Jen! Okay, so, miss... Jen's the first mate on the Ricochet. Wait, I got a picture of'er that I took earlier.
*Jen:* What? When did you--
*Ally:* Okay there we go. She looks like a pretty bad ass don' she?!
*Jen:* That's... not how you say it sweetie. It's "pretty badass". You just made it sound like I'm a beautiful pair of buttocks.
*Ally:* Oh...
*someone chuckles in the background, then speaks with a male voice*
Oh that's just great. You're quite the funny girl, ya kno' Ally.
*Ally giggles and speaks:* Oh, geez, I donnoe... oh right, this is mister Jettison...
*Jettison:* Captain.
*Ally:* Captain Jettison.
*Jettison:* It's cap'n on the ship, ya know.
*Ally:* Yes mister Jettison.
*Jettison:* ... why do I even...?
*Ally:* Anyway, mister Jettison IS the captain and he tells us what’s what. Well, when he doesn' get miss Jen tellin' us what's what. Which is good 'cause I forget what's what all the time. Captain Jettison, can I take a picture of ya too?
*Jettison chuckles:* Yup, go right ahead Ally. Try to get it from my good side though.
*Ally:* Which one's that?
*Jettison:* This one right here.
*Ally:* There we go! Okay so--
*alarms go off, something makes a loud noise and there's a heavy thud and some static*
*Ally:* Geez... there it is...
*more static*
*Jen:* Looks like we've got company.
*Jettison:* Oh stars, I guess they didn't leave a discount after all.
*Ally:* What's going on? Are we in trouble?
*Jettison, a bit stressed on the voice:* It's probably just a misunderstanding. Yeppers, nothing to get alarmed about. Why don'cha mosey down to the engine room and... check that everything's still running will ya?
*Ally:* Are ya sure, I...
*Jen:* You heard the captain, Ally! Shit, they've got locks on us. I'm gonna have to try to shake them. ALLY! ENGINE ROOM, NOW!
@commandersmartass did this wonderful piece of Ally and Sparky and I COULN’T BE HAPPIER! It’s so awesome and beautiful and they are just adorable, THANK YOU!
OOC: As mentioned above, Tuesday 26/7 at 18:30 UTC (19:30 BST, 20:30 CEST) the Voidrunners are opening up their headquarters for the first bi-weekly Open Office event! The Voidrunners HQ can be found at the skyplot of Lulu Witherthorn on Jabbit, Exile side!
Okay! I figured it be really like rude to jus' talk about meself all the time, seein' as there's not jus' me aroun'ere. We ain't really a big crew an' all, which is good since the ship ain't too big either. But they're all good people!
*short pause*
Ya kno', instead of me talkin' about'em I should jus' go an' let everyone say hi! Hang on.
*rustling and the the creaking of a door opening, followed by footsteps*
Okay so we're docked no' an' I donnoe if everyone's aroun' but I'll take a look.
*another door opens*
Oh, great, ye're here! Okay so this'ere is Chip. I've told ya 'bout'im earlier. He's the mech who I'm workin' with an' who got me on the Ricochet to start with. Say hi, Chip!
*another voice is heard, a manly one*
Umm, hello Ally?
Okay, thanks! Movin' on then. O'er here's the docking bay where mister Agathon works. He's the bosun an' keeps track of all the cargo an' stuff we're shippin'. Oh, an' he yells at me an' Chip sometimes when we've like, haven't made coffee or forgotten to activate the shields when we're bein' shot at. He's a big ol' sweetie tho'.
*sounds of a hatch opening, machinery moving and people shouting*
Mister Agathon! Can I take a picture please?
*a deep voice, like stones grinding against each other*
Ally, how many times do I have to tell you not to run around here when we're loading cargo?
*Ally speaks again*
Whoops! Sorry mister Agathon! Geez, he's in his grumpy mood today. Let's head back up. Who else... Oh, here's the kitchen! Okay so, in here we got our cook, Mugh Ugh. He's ... what was it again... oh yeah, he's a grund, an' they're usually like angry an' likes fightin' but Mugh an' mister Jettison got to be frien's at one point an' apparently he likes cookin' more than fightin' so he got to become our cook! Miss Jen tol' me he still likes fightin' though so I shouldn' go botherin'im alone... lemme see if I can jus' sneak the chron in through the door so I can get'is picture.
There! Perfect! Looks like he's makin' dinner. Tha's good, I'm starvin'! He makes the best space tacos an' I could eat hundreds of'em I reckon! Actually, I think I'm gonna go get a snack no', so I'll let ya meet the rest of the crew later. See ya! I mean, ya won't see me 'cause this is jus' soun' but... oh ya kno' what I mean.
*more static, a humming sound of machinery and then a young womans voice*
H-hello? Wonder if it's w---
*loud static*
Stop it. Behave, okay? I'm tryin' my best. Oh, ye're on.
*only the humming is heard for a while, a faint, high-pithced noise as if from an engine*
I donnoe ho' to start this... Mister Jettison told me I should start keepin' a diary cause I seemed to have a lot on my mind, but I told'im I had one an' left it back on Nexus. So he said I should make an ow-di-oh log, which pretty much means recordin' when ya talk an' I thought that was a good idea cause I still don't write too good.
*a short pause, deep metallic creaks like from a ship in motion*
Wha's this? "At.. ache... im... image"? I wonder wha--
Oh. Well, hello there.
*she giggles softly*
Uhm, I guess I should intraduce me first, donnoe who's ever gonna hear this but still. I'm Ally. I'm... twenty-three years old an' I'm the oldest daughter in a family of four kids. I gre' up on a ship in the Exile fleet called Avalanche. Wasn' the nicest place really but it was pretty much all I knew.
*another brief pause, a shuffling sound*
Well, we came to Nexus with'em first settler waves. My family got this li'l farm in Algoroc an' thin's were nice an' all until those Protostar fellas came an' wanted to buy it an' have us leave. I wanted to help so I went to Thayd an' tried to make money. It... di'n't go so good. Ended up kinda almost killin' my pops and got thrown in jail. An' tha's like, the last thin' I've heard of'em.
*Ally sighs*
Well, after I gots out these Black Hood fellas wanted me to come work for'em, said I had some sorta special 'bilities or sumthin' with machines. Tha's what made'em bots attack pops, they said. Got a fancy uniform an' everythin'. Really uncomfortable it was. An' it felt like... Like i wasn' in control of my o'n life no more.
*a slurping sound, as if someone sucks the last out of a sodacup*
Then I ran into Chip do'n at the spaceport an' he was havin' trouble with the stabilizers on this ship an' I helped him out ‘cause, well... he wasn' really doin' it right. An' he was all really impressed an' said "Hey, ya should talk to the cap'n cause we could use another mech on the ship an'... tha's really ho' I ended up on the Ricochet.
*someone shouting in the background, Ally shouts back*
Yeah but I told'ya not to throttle up before she's settled! Geez, ye're gonna make her cranky again!
*she speaks in a normal tone again*
Guess I better go check on the engines. Heh... still can't believe I'm actually in space! It's so beautiful out here, I can jus' spen' hours lookin' out through the portholes at all the stars an'...
*a loud bang in the background, followed by a loud hissing sound*
Oh crap. Right, better continue this later... Ally out. Okay, no' how do I turn this o---
The Voidrunners recently had their One Year Event! I had to leave early on due to life getting in the way, but I was able to tell my story of how I joined and hear the history behind the guild name.
I’m very glad I joined The Voidrunners because they’ve helped so much in calming my anxiety online and even managed to get me to RP in an MMO. Everyone is lovely and I’m v proud to be a part of the guild ur all a bunch of nerds I love you :’)
She felt like someone was shaking the world around her. Throwing her hand out to lash onto anything in the darkness of the void, Ally heard a very familiar voice. “Ally... be hurting Soey.” Ally opened her eyes and there she was. Soey was standing right next to the cot in her cell, alongside miss Rowen and mister Nebojsa. She realised her hand was clutched tight around Soey’s wrist and quickly let go.
They said they were taking her with them, that it was time to leave. Ally couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She was going home? She hadn’t even told them that she had made her mind up yet! Rowen made a quick phsyical checkup on her and made note that Ally hadn’t been eating properly and then... Ally stepped out of her cell and walked towards the exit. No one tried to stop her. No guards, no alarms.
Safely home at Soey’s tree Nebojsa handed Ally her uniform. She was now set to join the Black Hoods, even though she had no idea what that would entail. But first she was going to sleep. And eat. And cuddle with her girlfriend.
Hey Wildstar, let’s have some fun. I like asking prompts and finding out about characters. If you’re tagged, answer the question - add another question to the list and tag someone else. LET’S LEARN ABOUT ALL OF THE CHARACTERS.
What is your character’s favorite past-time?
How old is your character?
Does your character have a mount that they use ICly?
All right, let’s do this with Cia:
1. Depends on the season: During spring she loves to take care of her flowers and her garden. In summer she loves basking on the sun on a beach, preferably with some perky music. In the autumn when it’s raining, nothing is best than curling up in a warm blanket on her couch, having a hot cup of tee and read some fiction - or have Andro around and watch some movies together. In winter she loves to take walks when it’s snowing, she finds it very pretty and entertaining how the snowflakes break the light and fly around.
2. She’s 26 years old.
3. She’s using an eldan hoverboard most of the time, but some times she takes care of Staxyn’s trask if he’s gone for missions that take longer than a few days.
4. Cia is terrible in two things:
She’s terrible in healing - while she can use some very basic healing abilities, she just can’t keep up her focus when she’s worried about the people getting hurt around her. She’d rather eliminate the opponent than trying to keep people alive. Nop, she’s super bad at healing in general.
The second one is forgiving. Once she got betrayed in any way, there’s pretty much no chance for opening her heart again. She does believe in second chances - she will not ignore the person who hurt her, but it will be extremely though to earn her trust again.
Also adding an extra question:
5. How to get your character’s attention to start a meaningful conversation?
“Hey baby I got what you need riiight heeere!” - just kidding, but I always crack on this granok npc.
Want to get to know Cia? Ask about the latest fiction she read. Ask her how she’s making her famous cheesecake. Tell her about the newest inventions how to make life more sustainable using renewable resources. Show her a puzzle that you cannot solve. And so on, just be friendly and patient with her. :)
And most importantly, if you know a good tailor who’s making pretty dresses, do not hesitate to let her know!
Tagging Vik, Aira and Allie
Ally
1. Working. And that’s not even a joke. Ally loves working, doing repairs, building stuff. Preferably out in the open air at Voidrunner Station while listening to old pop songs on her datachron. She can easily work do double shifts and often get so caught up in her work that she goes the whole day without eating.
2. 23. Born April 27th, 1643 AE.
3. She got a GlitterKitty hoverboard from miss Lyril on her last birthday but has yet to learn how to ride it. It scares her a little so it’s still in it’s box, but she likes to take it out and look at it from time to time.
4. Oh dear. Ally’s terrible at most things, be it social interaction or finding her way around Thayd. The only thing she really excels at is building and repairing machines such as bots or ships. She usually says that machines are much easier to understand than people, since they always tell you exactly what they want.
5. This depends entirely on one’s definition of “meaningful”. Most people would simply say “don’t bother” but as far as Ally is concerned, a meaningful conversation can start with the simple phrase “Hey, look at this pretty butterfly!”
New question
6. What does your character do on a rainy day off work?
When Ally doesn’t work, she’s as lazy as they come. She’d just lie on the couch watching reruns of Space Cops or TeleJabbits (yes it’s for kids but it’s really fun!) eating snacks and drinking Cassian Cola. At most she’d put her raincoat on and transmat down to Thayd for some deep fried squid rings.

Time probably passed and the only distraction Ally had in jail was the occassional visit from her colleagues at the Voidrunners. A couple of them came to see her, telling her how things were not the same at the Station and that they couldn’t believe that she had committed the crimes she was accused of.
The more Ally heard about the outside world, the more she missed it. She kept telling herself that this was for the best, that she wasn’t going to be able to hurt anyone in there and that she should stay. To keep them safe.
But for every visit that self-sacrificing voice grew weaker, drowned in the shouts of her will to live her life, to see her girlfriend and her friends. Until finally one day, when mister Dynnagorn paid an unexpected visit and told her about everything she was missing out on, she made up her mind. She couldn’t stay there anymore. She had to get out. She was going to let the Black Hoods free her.
All things considered… the night out had been worth it.
As Taulin curled up tightly, her side nuzzled by a thick layer of warm, fluffy pillows (purple! She’d noted… which made them all the softer), her mind swam through pictures of the night’s events - pushing against a gentle tide of mild intoxication.
Where had it started, again…? It was a… rusty bottle? Bottles! The bot had thrown a bottle at her! She’d wanted to seek out some of the less familiar bars of Thayd and she’d ended up stumbling into a little place just off a narrow Alley… and the barbot had served her something that didn’t taste at all like cider and smelled far too… rancid. A human had hit it for her and, well, it responded by spitting the bottle across the room. Wait- did it hit anyone?! She’d not thought about that… she’d been worrying about the man who’d punched the bot, in case he’d broken his hand or something. Good thing he hadn’t asked her name or anything. She wouldn’t get into any trouble… hopefully.
It had been a good time to get away to the next place, at least… someone was offering free drinks! Or a free drink, for everyone. That was convincing enough to get her to the… Scythe. That was the name of the bar, wasn’t it? Ugh, she really needed to take better note of that stuff… But the Scythe had been a nice place! And it had reminded her of someone…
A flick of the tip of her tail and purple fur brushed a little against orange. She smiled a little to herself, contentedly nudging her nose against another pillow. She’d remembered that Soey had been the one to direct her to this part of Thayd, originally… and she’d been nice enough to buy Linny a drink! (A favour she’d returned later in the night… it was only fair!) She’d also promised another hug. It seemed a nice idea to invite her out again… and they’d had a real great time as a result - chatting and joking and messing around a little after another drink together. As well as… well, this. The Thorntails, she’d said. A tribe for Aurin in need. And once Linny’d said she needed a bed, Soey hadn’t let up until she’d convinced her to drop by their village.
But that had come much later, of course. They still had a whole night to go! So they’d headed on to a place Taulin had heard plenty about, but not seen. A bar in space! On a rock! The… Pink Salmon. It was amazing! And talk about a view… it was just a shame their visit was disrupted by some bad blood. She’d just wanted to share a drink with Soey and Marian - another Aurin she’d met the other night, at the Cherub. Instead a foul-mouthed aurin male had decided to harass them… and she’d been very close to putting a bullet in his knee for it, with the nasty things he’d been saying about Mari. If someone hadn’t intervened… well, at least a whack to his head had sent him packing long enough for her and Soey to depart, before he decided to try his luck anymore.
And so… here Soey took her. The Thorntails…
It was a nice village, she’d quickly decided. A nice, cool atmosphere… and Algoroc wasn’t so bad a place, if a little lacking in greenery compared to Celestion. At least she could get barbecue in the morning…
…right, the morning. How long had she been sat here, pondering over the last few hours? She could see Soey’s sleeping form just past her bare feet, their tails touching and curled together at the tip. A contented sigh escaped her, finally letting herself sag into the pillow-bed and letting her eyes fall shut.
Yeah… the night was totally worth it. And she’d made a very sweet new friend!
Soey liked this place. Not only did it have a pretty view, but it also allowed her to keep an eye on most of Thorntail Village. She was sitting on the tree above the little lake, just as she often does, when she heard the Transmat activating behind her, and the Mordesh stepping out of it with a couple of robots. She remembered meeting him some weeks ago, in front of Charyb, the night… the night Ally had been upset with her. Him, carrying Rowen, followed by his robots. He seemed a little weird, but nice enough, and it seems Ally knew him well and trusted him. What did he do here? In a big leap she headed down to the other side of the little lake, standing on one of the rocks before taking another, smaller leap right in front of him, cheerfully greeting him.
Turned out, he wasn’t just Ally’s friend - he was also the one she’s been waiting for. Ally told her they would visit, and here he was. Ally didn’t tell her that it’d be Mister Nebby, but that was fine. Soey examined him curiously as they sat down on the pillows around the campfire - he looked stranger even than she remembered, cold and a little distant, yet she felt like she could trust him, his words being very true to her own attitude. “Sometimes, you have to do bad things for the greater good, take one live to save many - or even just two.”, he had told her, explaining the Black Hoods way of protecting the Exiles. It sounded cruel, but she knew it to be true, she knew it had to be done, and she appreciated him being that honest with her, despite the impression he must have had of her.
Soey was aware of how most people seemed to think of her, being the little harmless ginger Aurin, babbling the way she does, struggling with complicated words; they were never quite taking her serious, talking to her like a child - everyone except Ally, at least. Ally knew that Soey was smarter than she appeared, that she very well understood the things around her, that it was just language that was giving her a hard time, just the words, not the concepts behind those words. And to some degree, Gina knew that too. Gina had encouraged her to be strong, had told her sometimes, you have to fight to protect. Soey preferred hugging to fighting, cheerfulness to doom and gloom, but she also knew that sometimes, one just has to fight. It was part of the purpose of Thorntail Tribe, a purpose she’d been happy to sign up to. Some day, she’d have to fight to protect what she loved. The day hadn’t come yet. She did not hurt even a single Chua herself so far, nor anyone else, though her scouting of nearby Dominion camps may have been responsible for some deaths. But whenever she saw a soldier of the Dominion, she felt something deep down inside her, some kind of purpose that she wasn’t even really aware of herself - remains of the other Soey, the past Soey, the one that died the day she was born, back in the Woods of Celestion, when her ship crashed. She wasn’t really able to grasp it, but it was a part of her, a part that she hadn’t been aware of at first, but started to faintly notice more and more over time.
So despite her usually cheerful and harmless appearance, Soey understood his words well, and she understood the need for the things he told her about. She understood how useful Ally could be for them too. Mister Nebby had assured her that he just wanted her to listen, not to interfere or even harm anyone - a notion that was familiar to Soey as a scout. She just hoped Ally would be ready, should that ever have to change. He also told her that, maybe not so much for himself, but for others, the Black Hoods were a family, taking care of each other. It might be dangerous, but they’d do whatever they could to keep her safe. But more than that, she understood, that they could help Ally get out of her situation. That they could bring her home, back home to herself. Back home, where she could protect Ally herself again too, instead of just being able to visit and watch, powerless to influence her situation. And that was all she wanted since the day she met Ally: be there for her, care for her, and protect her. Ally, the love of her life.
She’d make sure to visit her again to talk to her about all of this…
