i gave ktjn the ears the original cailu had, and she now has the little headcanon that when she gets surprised and whatnot, the little curl straightens. ktjn’s ear on the side where her hair covers her face is half gone, though, so it only happens on one ear.
cailu used to look like this until i went and remade her as a lv50 stalker for pvp boots because fashion is the true endgame. now she has shorter hair and bun ears. i like to imagine her ears being all big and floofy, with one of them always kinda bent.
since she’d done nothing but solo jobs for a while, ajah decided dipping her toes back into a group job would be good for her. socialise, and all that jazz. the job was simple; get to whitevale and retrieve something valuable from a box. client would be following along, so he was to be kept safe. seemed simple enough.
and honestly, it was, up until the crew encountered the squirg infected camp. they were planning to cut them down and walk through originally, but the client decided a shortcut was better. this shortcut involved climbing around a metallic cylinder and carefully landing to avoid the chilling water in the river beside them.
...things got real bad real fast.
first, the client fell in the water, the luna fell in after him. slate jumped in after them in an attempt to save them, and after a frantic few moments, they got to a relatively safe position. ajah spent the time screaming and panicking, unsure what to do.
her panic increased when, after bringing luna and the client to a safer spot, the pair weren’t conscious. eugene, the client, was eventually brought around by slate via hugging him close to his warm armor.
luna took a little more time to awaken, as ajah had slammed the adrenaline needle in the wrong place in her panicked state. it left quite the bruise on the left side of the mordesh woman’s chest. she came to quite quickly after eugene forced some liquid concoction down her throat.
ajah had hoped that after all that ‘excitement’ the rest of the job would be plain sailing. they managed to find the desired crate all right, but when they got there, there were two oddly dressed people ajah didn’t recognize standing ready to berate them. ajah quickly learned that these people were from NexEx, a rival company some of the group had encountered before.
after some talking turned sour, the woman working for NexEx called in an airstrike, which prompted slate and ajah to do their best to pull the damn crate out or open it. despite slates strength and ajah pushing her mind near its limit, they had to abandon the area and hide to avoid being bombed to death.
thanks to the airstrike, the crate and whatever was in it were lost. this cost eugene a fair bit of money, and the encounter with NexEx only frustrated the Runners further. ajah had to retire early for the night, as she felt a migraine coming on from exerting herself too much, but she did say that next time she sees a NexEx employee she’s going to punch them.
i made a lv50 stalker and hopped into pvp for these damn boots. then i put this outfit on and it looks like she has 95% robolegs and i am absolutely here for it i don’t care how unoriginal i am, cailu has robolegs now.
little ol’ eli decided to expand her boundaries and actually join a group of coworkers on a delivery mission! the cargo they were to deliver? four crates of kurg manure. considering the money they’d be getting it seemed almost too easy.
of course, such thoughts didn’t last long. aliette informed the group that the ships currently with them weren’t in working condition, which meant they had to do this on foot. eli, being one of the people who usually worked on the ships, felt pretty bad about not having at least one ship working.
depite this, the group made their way to wilderrun, and were accompanied by a friendly face on the way to the lopp village. once there, eli spent some time attempting to pet a kurg. she’d never really seen one up close before. their horns were so big! they’d put any draken to shame.
...ahem.
she settled for patting one on the back for now, and left the village with an open top crate of manure in her hands. she dealt with it by telling herself she could have a nice warm shower when she got home. until she realised that she didn’t actually own a bath, let alone a shower. all she had was a bed, a sleeping bag, a new bed, and a box of clothes.
while walking back to fool’s hope, the group were almost run over by some woman in a uniform on a bike. she claimed to be from some NexEx company, and her attitude stunk worse than the manure.
the flight back to thayd was awful. everyone was packed together in the transport ship with the manure and...ugh. not fun. the sooner eli got rid of this box the sooner she could scrape some money together and buy a bath or something.
eli went into autopilot mode for a while when they arrived back in thayd. she only snapped out of it when she heard their package receiver say he didn’t need any more, and that he wouldn’t be paying the runners as a result. turns out the NexEx company got there first, and were cheaper to boot. she and the others tried to convince the granok to take what they had, but he wasn’t budging on his stance.
eli felt angry and guilty and stinky. back at the hangar she bonded with luna over how over the top and garish the NexEx employees uniform and receipts were. after introducing herself to aliette properly and having a beer, eli made her way home and cleaned herself up somewhat. it wasn’t a warm shower or relaxing bath, but it was better than nothing.
before heading to bed for the night, eli made note to try and relax more around that white haired aurin that was with them. what was his name, surge or something? he’d made passing comments about her being an infiltrator due to being unnoticed. it made her nervous, made her tense up.
she shouldn’t be, not really. she isn’t any sort of spy or anything. she knows this. still, she doesn’t want anyone latching on to any hints that could lead them to the conclusion that she isn’t really an exile, either...
eli arrived in hella late to work the day after she bought her new bed and bOY did she panic when she finally realised what time it was.
ajah teased her a little, as eli is usually never late. eli gets a tad flustered and mumbles something about the new bed, expecting a laugh to come from ajah as a response.
instead, ajah leans over and ruffles eli’s hair, saying that it was about god damn time eli got some proper sleep cause she was starting to look like she was sleeping in the trash.
eli can only manage a nervous laugh as a response.
enough time has passed for me to assume Eli’s been doin some good work and saved up enough cash for a lil house and a bed. she’s basically broke again now, but sleeping on a soft mattress for the first time in ages was so worth it.

I’ve been trying to rp again lately, though, and it just hasn’t been coming and it’s been frustrating as all hell. I guess that my question here is if you’ve ever kind of burned out with a certain character or with a topic? And what’s your advice on dealing with that?
I’ve been through quite enough fandoms to know how this feels. It sucks, something you love doesn’t have the same ring to it anymore. It’s not fulfilling, and you start seeing mistakes, seeing problems that were easy to ignore but now frustrate you to no end. There’s no magic anymore, and it kills the man. You simply lose the will to write. This happens to people writing everything from original novels, to fanfics, to roleplaying with friends!
Well, I have a few things that have helped prolong characters for me. Time for the ritual read more so no one’s dash is flooded with crap. Come! Join me! We’re going to beat up burn out and writer’s block!
