But I got to thinking. I was doing some looking into Sam and I thought: what if Sam is the entity that compels Michael? Like, Michael starts seeing this little guy as a kid and he’s the thing that tells him to kill. I drew a bit of a visual representation:

He has to uphold the Halloween traditions and such. And Sam is said to visit different towns on Halloween each year, so the years Michael is dormant is when Sam isn’t in Haddonfield or something.
