I am Lynn Fisher, a history major (just graduated!) specializing in the legends and mythology of various regions. You'll probably see me at a lot of the local markets and festivals around the islands, so feel free to say hi!
In addition to this, you can also find me fishing by the shore of my home, Poni Island. Maintaining even a small sailboat is a lot of work, but on a good day I can easily sail between all four islands, and, on a bad day, have a little help from Primarina. I can catch you native species if you fill out the right permits, and I'm always happy to find homes for invasive specimens.
I volunteer at a local Alolan rescue organization, seeking to rehabilitate stolen Alolan pokemon back into the wild.
While I set out to be a water-type specialist, I‘ve befriended a variety of pokemon of all types over the years. I can’t wait to introduce you to them!
.
Hello and welcome to my pokeblog! I will be posting like this IS tumblr, just in a pokemon universe.
This blog will address problems similar to those faced in the real world by Hawai'i and other island countries. They will all have a pokemon tint to them. Some examples may be invasive species, overtourism, and destruction of ecosystems.
Pokemon are assumed to have vastly different levels of intelligence. Their behaviorial patterns and place in the ecosystem will be directly inspired by their real world 'counterparts' as well as the dex entries (to an extent). This blog may also address pokemon welfare based on this assumption.
People eat pokemon in Lynn's world. She is a fisherman and may make a remark on catching pokemon to eat. This will be tagged, so please block 'tw eating pokemon' for all mentions to be hidden.
Ultrawormholes have been distributing additional legendaries around the world. This will be the justification for any blogs who have legendaries there should only be one of (such as any blog dragging around a solgaleo or catching the tapus.) The Tapus are dieties in Alola.
Lynn's current lineup of mentioned pokemon include:
Prima (Primarina) -- Lynn's starter pokemon and best friend.
Jangmo-o -- A pokemon given to Lynn to raise after it was deemed unreleasable. His egg was stolen by poachers and confiscated. Lynn hopes to train him as a foster parent to other jangmo-o in a similar situation.
Wishi's (Wishiwashi school) - Lynn owns a small school of wishiwashi in the cove she tends to anchor in. Mostly used for battling.
Cutie (Cutiefly) - Lynn is raising this cutiefly as part of a breeding program.
Anchor (Dhelmise) - Lynn hasn't caught dhelmise. It showed up on her anchor one day and seems happy enough sticking around.
.
I'm open to all blogs interacting. I LOVE in character discourse and arguments, and Lynn is open to fights. Just please let me know, out of character, if you want an argument with her.
Lynn may not believe you are who you say you are, especially if you are claiming to be a pokemon that is not known for human-like intelligence.
Not all views expressed on this blog are views held by the RPer. Lynn is not a self insert.
The scariest thing about making any deal that links you to Lady Xerneas is just how easy it feels to make another, and another, and another, until you have more than nothing to give and no way to gain anything, not even a way out.
Man, you ever think about how weird the concept of a "person" is? It seems simple at first if you limit to just Homo sapiens, but then things just get more complicated. What about sapient Pokemon? Met plenty of them, with varying degrees of interest in anything human-related.
What about those who can think for themselves but prefer not to be called people? There's not really a snappy word for that demographic. "Things" is just nasty (unless they consent to it) and the alternatives aren't much better.
Ah, don't mind me, I get all philosophical around this time of night.
My apologies if you found this offensive at all. I'm really just typing whatever crosses my mind and hitting the post button. And I'm not very informed on the subject either.
It's just... frustrating how damn many humans equate person with human. And it's something that's an ongoing civil rights thing here as well.
Also, no offense, and I hate to make this analogy since it's invoking fictional characters even if it is illustrative, but person=human is something you and most humans would find blatantly incorrect in any media involving, say, elves.
Think about that for a moment, most humans are more willing to acknowledge fictional characters as people than sapient pokemon (which may or may not include myself depending on definitions and how I'm IDing at any given point).
I regularly get those on the site who forget I'm not human. Just... you know. Annoyingly mirrors some other stuff about me as well in some aspects.
Anyways... just keep in mind the whole consideration thing outlined, and that "person" is a loaded term legally and socially.
Fellow non-competitive Pokémon trainers, PLEASE listen to me. If you adopt a Pokémon who is from a species that evolves at all, for the love of dragons, *keep track of what typically causes that evolution.* Even if you and your partner aren't regularly battling, certain species have really wild evolutionary triggers!
This caused a lot of issues for my mom as a groomer because people adopt tiny Pokémon with odd evo trigs and then treat them like they're guaranteed to always be tiny. Your Inkay can and will evolve seemingly at random into a Malamar, and suddenly, it is not cute when it tries to cuddle in your lap. This really goes for all pokemon, but please plan long-term.
I live in Nimbasa city, and there is proposed legislation right now for all non-gym tournament registered Pokémon to be issued an everstone collar. In rural areas, it's one thing for your little Growlithe to evolve into an Aracnine. It is another when you live in an apartment building, and he almost burns the place down due to behavioral issues and lack of forethought in his training.
To add onto this, please y'all, before getting a Pokémon do some research into them as a whole, even beyond evolutions. Not all Pokémon make good appartment companions. They need their space, to go outside, occasionally have playdates with other Pokémon... It's a big responsibility. And that's without mentioning that some Pokémon have specific needs that are unique to their species.
I have seen quite a lot of trainers who were unprepared to owning a Ghost type Pokémon and they ended up feeling sluggish all the time and went to see multiple medical professionals without ever mentioning that they have a Gastly or something at home.
Always ask a lot of questions to breeders if you are unsure about something. I think this everstone collar legislation is an interesting proposition depending on how enforced that is.
But yeah, I just want people to do more researches before taking on such a big responsibility. Kalos is after all one of the regions with the highest Pokémon abandonment rate each year, usually around the holidays - some people don't want to bother with accomodations and sometimes the paperwork needed to fly a certain Pokémon from one location to the next and that is a shameful reality.
Thank you for spreading that kind of information btw zebrabaker, this is legit very important for regular people to be aware of all of this.
... So I... I have a lot to talk about. About how the surprise to Lupin went. And what happened on it. Because something happened that surprised even me. And took me some days to accustome
Anyway... Here's what happened
I told Lupin about the circus and told him to go first and we would meet when inside.
He accepted. So when the day came... He went to see the circus performance and surprise! I was there as a guest performancer! Even winked at him when was revealed would participate on it heheh...
So circus goes well overall... And then it comes my turn. I make multiple bubble tricks. Jumping on bubbles. Making small bubble statue things with colored bubbles even a whole bubble rainbow!
And then finishing by doing bubbles while singing at the same time! And well during the last lyric I made a really big bubble... While I glowed without realizing. Yeah... I sort of evolved while doing my performance. Meaning I'm once again bigger than my boyfriend heheh!
... It has taken me a while to figure out how to type again since my flippers are bigger now. That's why I went quiet for a bit
Anyway! It's Jayden the Primarina now
And honestly? I am really happy for myself! I just feel a lot more confident. Maybe it's just a final evolution thing?
Ooc: art by my friend sud! I don't know if will keep using it as my main art for primarina Jayden forever but am using it for now
Please make sure any kommo-o is legally acquired before you purchase or trade for it. Poaching of our endangered dragon-type is incredibly common. Kommo-o are sacred on Poni Island. If you find one that isn't properly certified as captive-bred or legally caught, please reach out to a ranger who can start an investigation.
I currently train a jangmo-o as part of a rescue program, if you need anything more specific.
Jangmo-o are adorable, and less destructive then comparable dragon types from other regions. They are also highly endangered here in Alola, with their habitat being illegal to go to, but are wanted as exotic pets by some tourists.
However, they don't stay small for long. Hakamo-o will tear up the house of any trainer dumb enough to get one, leading to abandonment, and, in Paldea's warmer climate, a small wild population forming.
Technically it's legal to catch the ones in Paldea I suppose, but if you ever bring it to Alola you better have plenty of proof that it wasn't poached.
We get shipments of Jangmo-o and Hakamo-o from other regions occasionally, that have been abandoned or discovered in raids. Incredibly hard to rehabilitate some of them. My particular Jangmo-o imprinted too hard on people to join a wild population until he's stronger.
i was gonna stay outta this cause i didnt think oleana n log would want another person involved but what sorta “agenda” d’you think spikemuthians have??
personally, i think it’s ridiculous you see lea happier than shes been before n immediately think its a bad thing, n on top of that, think that its all “evil spikemuthians doin evil bad things to our perfect polite children” cause thats just you bein a bigot.
Spikemuth is a literal prison. they are by definition evil. it is essentially the Galarian version of a mainland alcatraz. just... more humane. we keep people in there that you wouldn't want to see the light of day ever again. we keep them far away from our children because they are a danger to them. they often use someone naïve or new to the prison as a fall guy. they do something bad, convince the fall guy that it's good, and then the fall guy takes the blame and punishment if the group gets caught.
…..what???? this is like, a universal difference, surely?? i think yr takin yr emotions out on the wrong people. i grew up there n our community’s closer than how other towns look to be. theres gonna be a bad apple sometimes, but those types arent just in spikemuth. people arent evil for strugglin financially, or livin in a lower class area.
not lower class. LITERAL PRISON. motostoke is lower class. spikemuth, again, LITERAL PRISON. their 'community' is close because they're all fucked up people that think the league is bad and wrong and that's the only strand of connection they have; that they hate the league and want to get rid of it.
