"Hey, Lynnie-babe? Nothing wrong with a little magical girl transformation in a fun challenge." Amber teased, standing on the shore, juuuust a little further from Lynn than before. "Heck, if I got Azura over there to chip in, you'd be facing down a Mega Gardevoir."
"My interest remains limited." Azura telepathed to the duo from her spot a fair distance from the shore, lounging gracefully under the shade of a tree.
"But uuuuuh... Isn't the island challenge supposed to be for kids and teens? I know I look good for my age, but isn't 28 too old?"
"I suppose you are right" Lynn remarked with a smile. "You could say this first one on one battle was just testing the waters perse."
With a careful boop on the dive balls center button, Ariadne would return back to that spherical placeholder. It would be best for her to recharge up that way.
"Oh, does that mean she is picky about who she battles?" She asked Amber gesturing at the Azura. Or maybe they just weren't one to battle in general. From what she could remember gardevoir often took on healing type roles, didn't they?
Lynn did blink. The peach hair girl was actually older than her? Well only by two years. But still! With that there was a quick head shake. "There's a minimum age of being at least ten years old to join, but trainers can start any time after that. I started mine when I was around nineteen," she paused making thoughtful expression as if she was trying to work on out some math. It had been quite some time since she left Aether.
"Still, maybe at least put some thought into it. Just as its an extra option in ..well whatever else you have been planning to do, y'know?"
The implication of future meetings was one he hadn't intended to make, but she wasn't entirely wrong, either. He did want to see her again. Though, assuming she felt the same was a bit forward of him. "If you're willing, of course," he replied, swirling what was left of his latte around the rim of his cup.
His statement was answered relatively quickly, though, at her offer to volunteer at the hospital with some of her pokemon. That would mean... she did want to see him again! Maybe. Or she just wanted to help out. Either way, he appreciated the sentiment. "I never would have considered a corsola," he admitted imagining all of it's pointy bits. Not great for cuddling, but their joyous demeanor could definitely help cheer up a room. Luvdisc had a beauty to them that was undeniably charming, as well. "But I think that could be a wonderful change of pace. Different varieties of pokemon... I bet the patients would love that."
Blue eyes darted down to a near empty cup, then back up at Lynn. How had she deduced that? Was his internal monologue so obvious? "It's like charging a battery -- one coffee gets about 60%, but a second? I do believe I may be a functional human being again." A half truth. His caffeine addiction did give him quite a tolerance, where one cup usually wasn't quite enough to perk him back up. Two? A little better. Three? He could think again. The other half of it, though...
He smiled at the woman accross from him. "If you don't mind. Would you like another?"
Lynn was admittedly near distracted observing his mannerisms. She had a tendency to pick up on little tidbits like that. "I wouldn't mind at all. Besides, working at a cafe long enough, you sort of learn those nonverbal cues from customers fairly quick~" she added gesturing toward the near empty latte cup that Fay had been idly swirling about during their conversation. She nodded accepting that offer for another drink as well.
Not to mention his job as a hospital physician would surely require more energy refill then just one cup of coffee. "That and well, it just helps prolong this chance meeting we got together. I think I would like for those to happen more, yeah.." she remarked before making a coy grin
"Besides I may need extra convincing to stop putting pinap berries on pizza. Unless you're afraid I'll add them to your own~"
Surely she wouldn't do something -that- diabolical.
"Mhm. I was thinkin'....corsola tend to naturally shed their branches, and around Alola those little bits are made into jewelry. Perhaps it could be a sort of art therapy for your patients? They could make simple accessories out of them," she said thoughtfully. She knew that despite not being too cuddlesome Kikuri did have a calming aura about herself.
As for her Uzume? "The heart scales shed from luvdisc could even share the same perhaps. That and it's an island rumor that they do give good fortune."
Sure it was a bit of idealistic thinking, but for patients at a hospital? Wouldnt' they need that little bit of optimism at least?
"Of course, I suppose if there needed pokemon that can be pet and cuddled I do have my mightyena, Tsuki. She's incredibly friendly. A little excitable though," Maybe too much. She scrunched up her face just thinking of hose husky like howls. Still, they were a sort of emotional support pokemon to the delivery girl nevertheless.
"To start off simple, I'll just bring the luvdisc around. It seems like a good middle ground between the other two~" At least in terms of personality. Not to mention it would be a pleasant surprise to see a shiny one.
Damien simply follows, still not sure why he's doing so in the first place. To get a free treat, he supposes.
Still, she teases, and it almost immediately makes him regret his decision.
"What do you mean?"
Might as well ask. See if she was truly teasing him here, or if he was imagining things. Wouldn't be the first time he didn't get a joke, or misinterpreted.
He's not serious is. Is he? Lynn slowed down her pace, inclining her head. There was a subtle bewildered stare from her for just a moment before i turned into a reassuring smirk.
"It's only a joke~" She exclaimed. "Besides the only crime committed so far was Daisuke's awful begging attempt," she added causing the pyukumuku to wiggle defiantly in her hands at such an accusation.
With that she straightened herself up. I wasn't long til they reached their destination. And fortunately on time. A sign on the door suggested they were open later for the summer months.
"I cannot promise they would have popsicles, however they do have cups of shaved ice in all sorts of flavors at least," she explained pushing the door open. Besides hard to accidentally eat one of those in one bite.
Once she reached the counter, she took one of the folded menu slips and handed it to Damien. "I gotta ask. You're not from around here, are ya?"
By the time Saturday had rolled around, the sleep deprived physician came to realize he had severely overestimated how far 5 hours of sleep would carry him. Merely getting up with his alarm at 11am was a great feat. Nonetheless, he persisted, rolling out of bed and dragging himself to the shower. He would proceed to have three shots of espresso, a single piece of toast, and one more espresso to go.
On his way out, Furuka peaked around the corner, eyeing her brother with suspicion. "OĂš vas-tu, Nii-chan?"
He waved her off. "Cela ne vous regarde pas."
The girl huffed at that, stomping her foot lightly, a rare display from the normally polite idol. For Fay though? It wasn't all that abnormal, but he would never complain aboout it. In fact, he was happy his sister was willing to be a little spoiled around him. It was one of the only few signs he ever got that she wasn't just masking in front of him. Patting her once on the head, he kissed her cheek, and left without any explanation. He would surely hear about it later that night.
In the front garden he found Mitsu, watering the plants he was attempting to grow. The man with the normally hard exterior had put a surprising amount of effort into researching and choosing plants that would thrive on the coastal mountainside. "I need to borrow your abomination," Fay said to him simply, holding out the palm of his hand.
"That's rather rude, Lafayette," Mitsu replied, yet still handed him the poke ball he retreived from his belt.
"Fay," he corrected, then called on the pokemon. From the ball a Mr. Mime appeared. The blonde grimmaced. No matter how much he saw the thing, it still bothered him. In fact, even more so the more he saw it. "Please teleport me to hotel z, if you would be so kind," he asked with a small bow. No need to be so polite to it -- it was just a pokemon, after all, despite it's humanlike appearance.
"Have fun," he could hear Mitsu say from behind, fading away as the world around him blurred. He always hated the sensation. It only took a few moments for that blur to correct itself, but with completely different scenery. He now stood in front of the hotel, eyes scanning the entryway for a familiar face.
It was ...the weekend already. As usual she made it a terrible habit to stay up the night before. But now with the added reminder that there was that date...adventure(?) just looming around the corner. It took the form of both a digital one on her rotom phone's calendar app as well as a quaint handwritten post-it note she she stuck to her sketckbook. Both of which she always kept close to her person. She wasn't going to let any memory issues get in the way of this she told herself.
That was until she found herself waking up rather groggy. She didn't even remember conking out. Her head peaking out from under the covers as she heard that melodic alarm from her device. Although the moment that she had realized she had unknowingly tapped its snooze function, the second alarm attempt certainly caused her to perk up.
There was barely an hour to get ready! And of course in the rush of things her own pokemon ... primarily Daisuke and Tsuki demanded their usual morning attention. How she managed to multitask getting their food for the mightyena and pyukumuku while finding an outfit to wear was beyond even her guess. "Y'know... you're both spoiled," she retorted at them as they were too obliviously eating their late breakfast.
As for the outfit. It was one she pulled out of the hotel rooms armoire. The shower had to be a quick one. Even opting for a cooler setting to help wake her up. Drying her hair felt a little rushed. This is what she got for not going to bed at normal hours!
As she buttoned up the dark pink blouse that she paired with the black demin skirt, she took one more look at the clock. 12:45pm ambiently glowed. Fifteen minutes to spare. She could do this. Besides he was meeting her right at the hotel, she reassured herself. Wait she needed something to eat! Thank goodness she bought a new bag of pastries after a certain mawile had claimed the previous one!
She would take a bite of one, to give a boost of energy before tucking it carefully with the rest. The bag then was slipped to the satchel where it carried also her sketchbook and her pokeballs. Besides might as well bring some snacks to share, right? They were going to the aquarium after all, so how could she not bring a few of her water type babies?
Finally via elevator she made it down to the hotel's main foyer and toward the door before she paused. She didn't quite see Fay at first..but instead the Mr. Mime standing in the courtyard. Oh...they looked rather uncanny too. But nevertheless she slowly creaked open the door. Maybe if she could sneak past it it wouldn't notice her. Besides Fay had to be somewhere close by!
She wouldn't get far to notice that Fay was actually close to the entryway. Lynn suddenly perked up idly clutching at the straps to her satchel as well as the hem of her shirt. "Ehhh! ... I mean" an ahem followed as she caught that infamous phrase again. "I hope I didn't keep ya waitin' for too long" she greeted with that flustered awkwardness. Nah. She could do this. She could totally play this cool~

"Got it." With a nod, she instructs the Stoutland where to go. It's not too far thankfully. Marie just hopes that she can hold on for a little while longer. After patting the Stoutland's side, it gets the message and begins the journey towards the clinic.
"Lynn. It's a pleasure as well." Even if the circumstances were odd to say the least. She's definitely never met anyone this way before, but there's a first time for everything!
Walking alongside Stoutland and its latest rider, it feels a little awkward to just let silence fall between them. "You...mentioned that you needed to do something this upcoming weekend?" Or maybe she just wanted to ensure it was better by then. "What was it? If you don't mind me asking."
Admittedly even after all this time it did feel awkward to go to clinics out of the ones provided back at the foundation. She wasn't too knowledgeable on which ones would be on parr with the best sort of care for her. It was simply just, whatever was closest and the most affordable. Although when it did come to her own pokemon, she did take those extra steps to be sure they were okay.
Or by extent her nihilego did have an odd healing ability. But it was only used in extreme cases. A sprained ankle? That certainly wouldn't cause Chidori to whisk out of her beast ball.
While ride was quiet for the first part of the trek, it was at least peaceful. Every now and then the delivery girl would scritch the top of the stoutlands head she had been riding upon. Her pyukumuku rested on one of her shoulders. The very one that contributed to such an accident in the first place. Yet despite that she could never blame Daisuke.
"Hm?" She turned her attention to Marie was guiding along side her. "Oh, I got a rehearsal and then a contest hall performance the day after. Soo having ehhh...this kinda injury as a coordinator," she half sighed with a wary smile gesturing downward.
"Not to mention it would hinder any delivery work I need to do if I don't get this fixed, y'know?"
"Just thought it might be a lil borin' in the middle of the night. Some folks don't like hearin' a lecture at this hour." Regional variants are intersting, she can't deny that. Still it's not the first thing she would be thinking of talking about at night. "Hmm. Different species, huh? Digletts and Wigletts come to mind. They're not even considered regional variants, but- have ya ever seen a Wiglett?" She forgot those aren't found out here.
"Yeah, the mountain! Thanks for the heads up. I'm not one for the cold, but...eh, should be fine. Maybe I'll buy an extra coat if it's that cold." She doesn't venture to Glaseado Mountain often back home. That was a little too cold for her. Hanging out there is fine, but never staying there for an extended period.
"Oh right, ya got my name, but what about yours? I should thank ya for the heads up and sharin' the night with me."
"Quite the opposite actually. I think the night is the best time to hear all those facts and stories. You aren't surrounded by daytime distractions after all~" she reasoned with a warm smile. Lynn kept her observing gaze on both her and Rika's pokemon.
"Wigletts?" They sounded a little familiar. With that her floating rotom phone would conveniently bring up its dex app. "I had been to Paldea barely a handful of times..sooo ...oh! Yeah I vaguely recall those water type digletts. Well..wigletts." she added with a chuckle as she corrected herself.
"We got a regional variant here in Alola. A ground and steel type one. You can usually find them in caverns. Like the one used for the very first island challenge trial"
Now the tables were turned and Lynn was the one relaying those boring facts. Though at this point she doubted Rika would mind. She nodded as she was thanked for her tip about the colder weather up at the mountain. "Of course, I'm not one for that drop in temperature either. But sometimes I do have to make a delivery to the pokecenter up there," she added making a mock shiver just thinking about it.
Ah! She almost forgot her her manners. She had asked Rika for her name. So she could have been polite and returned her own. "Sharin' the night, huh? We merely just met," she joked.
"It's Lynn by the way. Or I sometimes go by Lynnie.~"
