[ Sorry I haven't been on much lately. I've been working a lot cause I really need the money, honestly. But I have tomorrow off so I should be able to do some replies if I can muster up the inspiration for it. Who all do I owe on here, dears? ]

“What’re you apologising for? You don’t need to - c’mere.” Awkward as ever, he gave her a soft nudge, placing his arm around her shoulder with the best smile he could muster - it wasn’t much, but it was genuine nonetheless.

“Well - that’s good, right? I mean, look at Jill, she’s got the damn T-Virus and she’s okay.” Mostly. Well, better than anyone else who had it. ”We’ll figure this out.”

The small nudge may have been a bit awkward, but it was comforting too. Nothing cured her sadness more than feeling surrounded by those she loved. And those who loved her back. That thought made Sheva's heart swell and she felt tears behind her eyes, closing them gently. 

And with her eyes closed, she listened to him speaking. That was true, Jill was infected and she was most certainly not a monster. Maybe there was hope for her yet. Sheva's lips lifted at the corners slowly. For the first time in so many weeks, the agent felt somewhat at peace. She opened her eyes and looked to Chris' face, "Thank you, Chris."

[A guy ran a red light today and made my fiance crash and he's fine but one of the rearview mirrors on our scooter is shattered and the key literally snapped off in the ignition and this really sucks.... ]

“Shit." Spoken without thinking, as he so often did, before tightening his grip on her hand in an attempt to comfort her. Whilst he understood the need for secrets, he didn’t like it. Maybe he couldn’t have helped, but the idea tht maybe he could have unsettled him.

“Bonded with your genes? What do you mean?”

Sheva looked at him, sad eyes. Something resembling a lost and scared animal... She felt stupid for having kept it a secret so long. Felt stupid for leaving him and everyone else, for that matter, out of the loop. "I'm sorry," she apologized, voice low and unsteady.

Then she shook her head slowly, "I don't know, Chris. I was looking for answers to that myself..." She huffed, irritated at the whole situation, "But I haven't seen any negative effects of whatever this virus or infection is." Sheva paused before adding, "Yet."

      Watching as she made her way, Jill remained still, arms crossed beneath her chest. “It’s a start.” She was quick to answer, smile still on her lips. Having been there herself, it was no easy matter- and it would take time. No amount of reassuring words would urge her along faster, make all the pain and horrifying events fade- time would heal, but never take the scars away. 

      With a shake of her head, Jill moved just enough to place a hand on the African woman’s shoulder. “You never have to thank me, alright? We’re friends, and I’ll always look out for you.”

             ---- "When you first returned to the BSAA," Sheva began a question, her voice soft and cautious. She meant not to open closed wounds, but she was desperate for answers, "How did you manage to cope..? With the way people stared a little too long and--" Her voice cut off. She was afraid of her co-workers looking at her differently now. She had been seen as a strong, powerful woman in the BSAA, but now there would be pity in their eyes. Sheva didn't know if she could handle that.

             A small sigh came, "I won't stay for long." She'd need to get out of Jill and Chris' hair eventually. They had their own life to worry about, a strong relationship and a future together. A chuckle then fell from the agent's lips, "You know when he saved me, I told him I loved him."

             "I haven't spoken to him since," came as a sad-sounding after thought.

      Ah, that was the reaction she wanted- even if it wasn’t as strong as she would have liked it to be. “You know if you keep this up, you’ll have those lovely bags under your eyes.” A light attempt to raise the mood. With a smile of her own, a nod was given in acknowledgement, “It’s pretty good for it being two in the morning,” a momentary pause, “I was wondering when you were going to come back to us, Sheva.” 

            In other words, I missed you.

            ---- Sheva released a soft breath at Jill's words. In the past weeks since she'd returned, she'd heard it all. It'll get better. Stay strong. Make sure you get enough rest. It's not your fault. The words never helped, but there was a sympathy behind Jill's voice that made Sheva's heart break. In the end, Jill knew exactly how she was feeling. She'd been through the same thing. She'd been held captive, a prisoner. And returning from that was no easy task...

            "Baby steps, right?" Sheva said, glancing over to her friend. She stood then from the dining room table and walked over into the kitchen where she leaned against the counter. Another sip of the warm, bitter nectar before she finally said, "Jill... Thank you. For letting me stay here." She hadn't been able to be alone lately. The solitude was crushing and the silence deafening.

everything in my life is pretty much school and work. i;m moving in a week actually. my dad has orders for california. my sister just graduated navy boot camp yesterday, so we spent the weekend in chicago. got back today.
