Skeletons

The ones that collect dust in the closet, waiting against the door to fall out.

The ones down in the basement that never see the light of day.

If you so wished, I would drag them from their places and scrub them clean.

I would lock them away forever if you said you hated the sight of them.

I would sink them to the bottom of the sea if you wanted to be rid of them forever.

If you said your skeletons were worthless I would toss them away.

If you said they were priceless I would treasure them to my grave.

But before anything, I would love them like I love you. They are part of you. They made you who you are.

Your skeletons are worthy of love, just like you are worthy of love.
