reasons why the girls of h2o just add water were inherently gay:
- all mermaids are gay
- they were created from the moon and were influenced by its power
- rikki x emma, fire and ice, the gay tension..
- “tomboy” rikki who shouts DUMP HIIIM at every given chance
- having a chosen family that must be hidden from the world on threat of institutionalization or even threat of death.
- the omnipresent theme of having to hide your true identity, primarily in regards to loved ones/family; feeling guilt over living secret “double life” / the fears of being “outed” as different than
- the battle esp with cleo to accept her identity. her and old mermaid struggling with wanting to be “normal” and feeling subhuman, monstorous because of who they are
- the most consistent and fully supporting relationships they have for the entire show is each other
