Tainan (臺南) is one of the famous city in Taiwan as known as historical and cultural city of Taiwan. Every single edge of Tainan represents the culture of Taiwan itself. Quoted from lonelyplanet.com “Traditional ethnicity endures to flourish in Tainan. The name 'Taiwan' itself was once referred to Dayuan (大員), Anping's former name. Inside temples, bwah bwey (moon blocks; 搏杯) are cast to determine the best course of action, as it was done hundreds of years ago.” Lucky me, I studied in one of the university in Tainan. That’s the reason I was be able to learn the culture of Taiwan started from the city I lived for more than 2 years. In Tainan train station, I ever saw a slogan of Tainan city promoted by the Tainan City government, written that “If you never visited Tainan, you never really visited Taiwan”. Even for the extreme case “if you never visited Anping, you never really visited Tainan” Haha, i was wondering what Anping (安平) looks like when people never go to Anping before. The bus system in Tainan (for what foreigner like me thought) is quite convenient. I can go to Anping from the Tainan train station only by bus, and it only costs you 18 NTD (for student) per single trip. In Anping area, you can find many things. Local foods, drinks, desserts, tourist attraction, even a romantic place to enjoy the beach scenery sunset with your loved one is offered in Anping area :D. This is one of the video I shot in Anping. This area is called Anping Fisherman’s Wharf (安平漁人碼頭). I found this place is interesting because in this area you can find a huge statue stated in Lin Mo Niang Park (林默娘紀念公園). During dusk time, many young family bring their children to have fun in this park and play a kite. I saw some people just enjoy the beautiful scenery of Anping Harbor and feeding birds. Not far from Lin Mo Niang park, you also can visit the wharf where you can find many boats used by the local people go for fishing. I like to enjoy sunset time in this place, because it’s very calming and the scenery looks stunning. If you visit Taiwan, don’t forget to visit Tainan and anping.
