Revived PFP!!
Nice to meet everyone! I'm Haniwa, and I'm reviving this blog to log art + show stuff I'm working on.
Also a lot of OC / Gundam Gijinkas lore rambles incoming, if that piques your interest!

Sorry for the lack of updates I just got out of one final and have 2 more due in the span of a week
In the meantime because maid day was coming up I decided to stick Exu in a maid dress. Lorewise this only happened because the rest of Team Re: Vision made the dress for her because it was the only way they’d get to see her in a fit like this, which she does, albeit begrudgingly.
Themes wise all the red, the string and the needles etc on her are because I wanted to play with the idea of the “Red Thread of Fate”. Graham mentions this in the stage recording, smth smth he and Exu were always connected, and even in “lore” Exu tried cutting herself free only to fail miserably. Now she’s weaponising that same thread to her own ends, having accepted her circumstances.
Hopefully I can get a proper illustration done by maid day tho.
Re: Vision Meister dynamics (+Exia alt)
Just an observation based on the stage play
meisters (ver. re:vision)
it was such a stupid idea ngl but i thought it would be funny. anyways, Graham be sweating bullets because Exia is probably holding him at gunpoint behind the camera
I actually saw some artworks about your Gundam Barbatos gijinka, and it reminds me of some funny, absurd Reddit theories I saw before, saying Eclipse Gundam might be long-lost twin of Gundam Barbatos (albeit exists in Cosmic Era), mostly due to coincidentally similar designation number, the organization they served to being pragmatic for some reasons, and how the mobile suit mechanism and compatibility literally linked to the pilot but in genetic terms instead Alaya-Vijana system (although there are a few similarities), and Eclipse almost killed its own pilot in similar ways much like Barbatos, but the pilot still survives without being paralyzed. Not to mention that Eclipse is literally being long-lost twin of Freedom Gundam at the same time. Your thoughts?
Generally speaking, timelines remain separate. But meta wise, maybe Eclipse does have some demon influence or something similar to explain the similarities. Otherwise, convergent technology?
I saw some of your sketches related to 00 Gundam gijinka, and I noticed the detail about his ribbon tied to his hair - is it the reference to the final episode of Madoka Magica? Also, do you have clear idea of how ELS Quanta gijinka would look like in your design?
1: the madoka reference is purely coincidental. the ribbon belongs to Susanowo and he got it as a "prize" after winning the duel. He wears it for remembrance and out of respect and acknowledgement of Susanowo's skills. Susanowo's still alive btw, just in "retirement".
2: ELS Quanta. No definitive clue yet but he'll likely look more civilian esque compared to most gijinka and is probably all silver like Setsuna.

Finished portrait + icon sets for Graham and Exia Repair 4
I saw some sketches of your version of Quanta, and I'm curious about your possible lore about ELS Quanta.
Eeeeee not much lore on ELS Quanta tbh. In “canon” he’s the result of fusing with the ELS like Setsuna and the conclusion of his character arc. In Giji-verse, after A LOT happened (which involved IBO), he becomes the new leader of the 00 “region” after ousting the previous leader and so ELS Quanta is a fit he has to fit the new “diplomat” role he has (which applies in canon too anyways).
I don't know if you know about Madoka Magica and Magia Record soundtracks, but Exia's unstable state of mind actually reminds me of Sayaka Miki (who also went into depression but for a different reason), so I guess maybe Decretum (Sayaka's theme song) also fits well with Exia.
Oh yeah I know Madoka. I see where you’re coming from knowing Sayaka and yeah I think Decretum fits Exia, but only during the 4 year time skip since that’s her lowest point…actually it might come back again when she tries to kill Graham (long story).
As a whole Exia is very music based, with each stage of her life centered around a certain genre as she tries to find herself and as of now as Repair IV, she’s more of a hip hop person (with 2 specific influences)
X-Maoh, Old Sins and the Spirit
I'm on a roll with the Build Fighters gijinka ideas again and tbh for what they actually are, the power and lore levels each gijinka operate on are far larger than the gunpla they inhabit lmao. Almost all of them have some sort of history prior to becoming their builder's mecha due to giji-verse shenanigans and X Maoh is no different...he's arguably one of the nuttiest ones. For starters: He's the undisputed oldest amongst the Build Fighters 3 (SBS, Fenice), being almost a few centuries older since gijinka timescale is...quite big (some of them are in the thousands of years old). He’s also the one with the most traveling done before his start as Mao's gunpla, so here's how his journey goes. Maoh gets his name from Maou (魔王). Originally this is a pun on Mao and his name but here he got that name because he was an ex warlord (somehow) who got defeated by Master Gundam and became his student in the process-his full epithet likely being Demon King of the Sixth Heaven (第六天魔王波旬). He trains under Master as a form of atonement for his past life, and through Master learns martial arts, the art of healing oneself (via spirituality?) and the desire to experience new perspectives in order to become a stronger gundam. He's now become extremely empathetic, understanding and accepting of many things that most people wouldn't tolerate, though this has led some to try and take advantage of this percieved "ditziness", though X is more than aware of the world and will retaliate if things go too far. Maoh's desire for experiences pushes him to meet new friends, as through this it gives him the means to train alongside them and get stronger together, leading to him running into SBS's shop, meeting Fenice simultaneously and forming a weird friend / family trio with them. This also means SBS is the only "sweet summer child" amongst the 3, given Fenice is an ex knight and Maoh is an ex warlord, though SBS herself has her fair share of issues from before the start of Build Fighters. Design Wise he takes influence from the OG X Maoh, Ronins and Wandering Monks. Extra: Maoh is either outright blind or has poor eyesight, yet still functions fine because anime logic. This started as an extreme end of Mao's closed eye design and evolved into him likely inflicting this wound on his himself as punishment for his past actions (similar to Fujitora / Issho)
Unhinged thoughts on Turn A, Turn X and how they defy the logic of the Gijinkas
Context: I am at the end of my rope irl, listening to some cryptic content and it's sparked the urge to ramble about these 2 again, because both of them are insane. Turn X and A are siblings / twins, with X being the older of them either way. Unlike the other MS from other times who were built for war, peace, etc etc, your standard MS uses, not only were they built for interstellar war, but to Judge Humanity. The humans that created them were likely so advanced that despite ending up either in a utopia / dystopia, they were at the end of their rope, and in seeking a way to continue, created both machines as a way to create a judgemental being that is not marred by human bias. Unlike the other gijinkas, neither of them have a black box, with their consciousness and sentience directly stored in / throughout the MS' body (hell, they might actually exist in hyperspace). Through their journeys, both developed different perspectives of the world and Humanity, each coming to a different conclusion. Turn X, having seen the best and worst of humanity during the interstellar wars, concluded that humanity is worth continuing with the pieces left. Humanity is imperfect yes, but there are aspects of it that make civilisation worth continuing; communion, culture, etc. They just require the right guidance and this is something it seeks to achieve.
Turn A, being developed from the technology of Turn X and being given full, unrestricted access to the Judgemental powers of Humanity, concluded that humanity was not worth continuing. They were too irreparable of fixing of any sort to do anything and so it sees resetting everything as the only way out. Humanity will return anyways, it's only a matter of time, so what's the harm in taking them out? This leads to a rift between whatever relationship the "Siblings" had before, and a fight over the fate of Humanity. In the end, Turn A overpowers Turn X, banishes it and causes the Moonlight Butterfly resulting in the Correct Century (and eventually the Gijinka Verse)
Speaking of the Gundam Gijinka universe massive spoilers here but it’s the result of 2 Gods, 1 falling and 1 going increasingly insane trying to make a perfect world with mechanical lifeforms.
They fallen God is still alive tho.
Was thinking about Red Gundam again and the fact that he's an alt universe Char (via assimilation)-and probably vibing with Full Frontal the most since both are just husks of the real Char. Anyways image is attached because this is how I think RG might react to Frontal talking about personal stuff (NOT what Neo Zeon set him up to be, just Frontal the person) and them probably using the same haircare brand or smth.
Was thinking about the Re-GZ line and how I’d go about designing them and I think they’re pretty much all new soldiers “developed” from the zeta units. Unfortunately for them, a good chunk of them would go down during the Axis Shock, some survived and became the first Rezels and one…jumped timelines entirely post AS.
100 points to whoever can guess what happened with that last Re-GZ I guess.
Iteration 2 of 00’s hair. Uhhhh I liked him having this messy wolf cut type hairstyle so that was the through line. But again yeah I need advice on what fits his downer attitude and after that I’ll probably move onto the final version.
Fun fact but since all the CB Gundams are based on angels and some already take from specific angels (I.e Zabanya, Raphael) giji 00 is Michael, since “God’s Strongest Soldier” and all that. Exu currently sits as Azrael because why not.
