Al puts on this front as if he’s some cold-hearted asshole. He is an asshole, but he’s not all that cold. He makes breakfast for Mags in a home that belongs to his well-off foreign family, and although he doesn’t talk to her about them he’s particularly interested in making sure Mags’s new family starts off okay. He even offered the home to her for her use for as long as she’d like.
