“Well, I am quite glad to hear that at least.” He nods. “Feeling any more in control of… things?” He quirks an eyebrow.

“Yes.. I’m much more in control.” She laughs and nods. “I’m all patched up with tape.”

olin-ludvigsen‌:

“I’ve got a few people who would say so, I get the sense you disagree,” Olin nods. “Well, good, I’m glad to see that. Is it as relaxing as you’d hoped?”

“I’m mostly teasing. You’ve never shouted obscenities at me, so you’ve got Gordon beat there. That’s his signature move.” She shrugs. “I really like it, yeah. I’m happy with how they’re turning out.”

“Oh, come on, I am much nicer than him,” He chuckles a little bit, shrugging as he goes back to pruning his weeds. “How are the plants coming?”

“Are you though?” Aly asks, skeptically, closing one eye a little. “They’re good, healthy and thriving.”

“I mean, they kick you out of culinary school if you can’t,” Olin jokes as he tosses the potato up into the air. “I’ve been thinking about doing a sort of masterclass thing at the restaurant after hours, invite a few people, go over a complicated recipe, break it down for them. What do you think?”

"Yeah?” Aly asks cooly, misting the leaves on the plants of hers that were starting to grow better. “How very Gordon Ramsay of you.”

“What do you mean he kind of hates you?” She wrinkles her nose. “And yes, that’s a bad reason to do anything.”

“He’s a grouchy guy. He rejected my application three times and then I had to basically demand to be let in. And he’s really critical and hates purple gel pen. So he’s probably a murderer.”

“Excusez-moi,” Soleil asks, making a face as if she had said something gross. “Gardening? You? You can barely keep you alive and you want to care for defenseless plants? You?!”

“Is it bad that part of me is gardening out of spite because the guy who runs the community garden i joined sort of hates me and I want to prove him wrong?” Aly makes a face.

“Oh, shut up,” Soleil rolls her eyes. “You are never single for long. NEVER. I bet you already met smomeone you’re thinking about and you have been in the city all of three seconds. I am onto you, Martin.”

“I get lonely!” She teases with a laugh. “I don’t have anyone in mind. Thank you very much. I’m gardening.”

“I don’t think you know what ‘judging’ means. Correcting someone isn’t judging them. In fact, perhaps I am shielding you from being judged in the future, no?” He smirks again, crossing his arms over his chest. “I am not entirely sure this has anything to do with me, but how can I stop ‘judging’ you for the future. Since you’re a sensitive petal.”

Aly fixes Olin with a withering stare. “You think you’re so clever, but you’re mean, Olin. Sometimes you’re mean.” She nods seriously. “Don’t say shit you wouldn’t want someone who didn’t really know you to say to you.” She shrugs. “Have a good afternoon.” Aly waves as she turns on her heel to walk the opposite way down the farmer’s market.

“You’re hilarious, but totally right. Do I even want to hear your thoughts on The Notebook? Or worse, Titanic? Spoiler alert–I do.”

“The Notebook is an emotional atrocity.” Aly laughs and shakes her head. “And Titanic was just an excuse for James Cameron to take submersibles down to the Titanic wreckage.”

“It’s ‘mince’ words.” He chuckles a little bit. “I’m sorry you don’t like my tone, It’s the only one I had. Isn’t that a little rude to say?” He smirks. “And why does it bother you?”

“Oh my god, you can’t even let that go, see? I did that to see if you’d judge and you did!” Aly points at him. “It bothers me because I’m a sensitive person who is already pretty hard on herself. Thank you.”

“Has-been,” She teases and leans against her, resting her head on her shoulder. “Uuuhm I dunno I just don’t feel like it. He seems like maybe a little bit of a player, or whatever It’s called. Which is fine but not for me.”

“Rude rude rude! Now you have to forgive me for that jab.” Aly gasps and shakes her head. “Alright, I won’t push. But now I’m here with you now. We can be spinsters.”

“What is that dance?!” Soleil laughs and pushes her gently. “Yeah, he’s good looking I would say.” She shrugs. “But he’s… I don’t know. But yes, good to look at.”

“I’m a professional dancer, don’t question my jam.” She grins and leans back against the headboard. “So then why not try to get with him?”

“You’re telling me. A Walk to Remember made me cry for a solid WEEK. I’d be brushing my teeth then it would hit me, just the one thought–Landon and Jamie deserved a happy ending. Then that’s it. I’m gone.”

“It can ruin a whole day thinking about how Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling don’t end up together at the end of La La Land, she ends up with the dude who played Guy in That Thing You Do. He wasn’t hot then and he isn’t hot now, I don’t care how grouchy Ryan Gosling is.”

“People can be both,” He gestures to her Vana White style. “I respect that you’re both,” He smirks as he bites into a strawberry to test it. “I’m observant. There’d a difference. I’m not judging you for it. Does it bother you?”

“No, no, don’t mix words. Observant is one thing, pointing things out verbally in that tone of yours is judgment.” She eyes him skeptically. “A bit, yeah.”

“Hey, It’s not weird,” She frowns and nudges her. “Actually the artist came into the shop — weirdly, randomly. And he was drawing stuff and I was like hey I like your style it looks like this, then — yeah. He wrote it under a pseudonym at the time, but yeah. We’re friends now, It’s fine.”

“Oh wow, that’s really cool.” Aly smiles. “You were completely obsessed with those. Is he hot?”
