here's the thing, i get why there are diverging opinions about both marius* and david talbot, but i like it when characters in vampire novels are morally reprehensible even before they've been transformed. like how louis was either a slave owner or a pimp, depending on the iteration of the story, no one has clean hands here and that's fun imho.

*we don't have solid evidence of this on his end other than engaging in slavery (roman style) because most of his messiana style mess occurred after he became a vampire

so one of the eventual casualties to this reorg/purge of my clothing is this fantastic button up with a floral print (blue background, white flowers) that was from a collection from 6 to 16 years ago that i can't find after digging around on poshmark and u g h 🙃🙃🙃. it's a shame that there's likely no way to alter it so that it fits again.

#southern california during bush ii #my high school was very much in the vein of that mean girls scene of 'don't do it. not even once. here's some rubbers.'#the 'health' teacher didn’t touch in HIV much (it was 2007 and the children were unruly) but did talk about STDs and pregnancy a fair amount #such that while it was abstinence forward i can't call it abstinence only.#because several of my classmates left school due to teenage pregnancies my mom stepped in the be the sex ed adult for me and my friends.#and with like real talk about various forms of protection birth control and warning signs for scary behavior. she also encouraged everyone #to wait to have kids. which is so real on account of she was 20 when she was pregnant with me. i wouldn't wish that on anyone.
