Tank Rays, 2015, oil on canvas, 2.5′x4′
So happy to finally be finished this big babe! It changed so much during creation, but I’m so happy with the final result! Now to find a buyer with a big wall...
good things to come
I think I’m finally getting my artistic/creative groove back. I’m out of a big rut, the vibes are vibing, and I’m excited about a few projects I’ve got on the go :D
I drew a bearded lady getting sucked into a candy vortex today. What did you do?
I just added six more paintings to my RedBubble page that are all available to be printed on phone cases, throw pillows, travel mugs, and more! Check ‘em out, treat yourself, and support starving art grads!
Sisterhood Watch, 2015
I made this piece for a group show out of Whippersnapper Gallery in Toronto, ON called “The Street Talk Project”. The Street Talk Project is a public art intervention and gallery exhibition that addresses how women navigate the city, and the socialized sexism that governs bodies on a day-to-day basis. Using humour and subversive advertising, The Street Talk Project will bring attention to the ways in which public space is navigated differently by different bodies; address how sexism is felt viscerally on a day-to-day basis; promote solidarity for the safety of women and trans bodies; and further the belief that we are all responsible for making public spaces accessible and welcoming for all bodies.
My sign, and the 6 others, are installed on telephone poles around Kensington Market, as well as on display in Whippersnapper Gallery from today (April 16th) until the 26th. I so wish I could be there for the opening tonight, but alas, I am in Halifax. But if any of you, lovely followers, are in the area for the next 10 days, check it out, see the signs, and think about how you can help make the streets a safer place wherever you walk.
For more information about the project and the artists involved, go to www.streettalkproject.com
WOW YOUR PHONE CASE/TRAVEL MUG/PILLOW/POSTER IS SO COOL
Do you have people telling you that on a regular basis?
No?
Well now that my art is available on all said surfaces they sure will! If you feel like sporting some nifty, original artwork created by yours truly, check out my page on http://www.redbubble.com/people/alyssaproctor and order that stuff! It’s mostly jelly fish right now (plus one well loved birch tree) but more will be up soon!
Couldn't sleep, so I painted something Spiff-y.
HEY, BUY MY ART!
Hello Followers! There aren't many of you out there, but I'm hoping that those of you there are like me enough to reblog this and help get the word out. I recently made an account on the fantastic website ArtFido, which allows artists from all over the world to showcase and sell their art! I've only posted one piece up for sale so far (it's a bit of a process, but I'm working through it), but I'm hoping to have more up there in the next week or so! It would be a big help if you guys would visit my artist page and view my work, and/or like my posts so that they gain more views: the more activity that reaches my account, the more likely my work is to get sold! Of course, if you want to bid on anything there be my guest as well!
The link to my page can be found at the bottom of this blog (there's an ArtFido button down there now, how cool is that?) or you can go to artfido.com/AlyssaProctor and find my profile there!
Thanks in advance everyone :D

Sailing For Adventure Till A Sea Monster Destroyed My Ship And Ruined My Entire Vacation
2014, acrylic on canvas I've had this round canvas for almost 5 years, and I finally decided what to do with it.
I can't decide if I'm finished with this or not... I feel like it's missing something still. Thoughts?
I made my best friend this AWESOME THING for Christmas, and I want to post a picture of it here but I don't want her to see it yet!

Embedded Permanence, 2014. Oil and acrylic on carved masonite, 6'x3'
I didn't realize I never posted pictures of this! This was my final piece for my graduation exhibition this past spring. A culmination of themes I've been focusing on for a while, this was an experience to make, and it's a style I want to continue working in.
