♛-; Mikage was no one to look over, the Jokers knew that much, and so when he entered the throne room with a grim look on his face, Ephraim immediately knew the reason for his coming.
♛-; As if to reassure the shrine keeper of the card, he repeated the riddle to him. “You can always have more, but never less. Which place makes my afternoon tea the best?” After that, he takes out his own letter, looking at it with great distaste. “I’ve heard that there is another riddle posted in Plaisir… Would you care to come along with me in order to get it? Or would you rather we complete the first riddle?”
♛-; Alice and Erik… Just what did they hope to achieve by sending these riddles? Was it simply to disrupt the short peace Wonderland knew of? No one would know, for they were mad; and perhaps these riddles were mad as well, only intending to send them on a wild goose chase, but the king had an inkling that wasn’t the case at all. Discarding his facade, he decided it was time to step up as king.
He thought for a moment. “Isn’t Plaisir known for tea?” he said dumbly, then laughed it off. “I mean, I think they figured us to find the answer to the first one by this time...which is why there’s one in Plaisir now.”
It was a simple answer, actually, but he probably wouldn’t have figured it out by then. He wasn’t very good at riddles, especially ones with comparatively simple answers.
“I mean, that’s what I think, anyway. They’re not taking us for fools, even if I am one, yes, yes,” he said, so as to make the king feel better about himself if he did feel terrible for not understanding the riddle. “There may be people already in Plaisir if they’ve gotten the first riddle’s answer, so I suggest we hurry. I will...”
A pause. Then he turned serious, also dropping his own facade.
“I will accompany you, milord.”
