Literally pure unimaginable joy is what this boy has brought into our lives. He’s changed so much over these 4 months and I can see so much personality coming through. How has it been 4 months already since I had Nami? Honestly not sure when the time flew by but I can’t imagine what life was like before he came along. _ It’s safe to say that #breastfeedinginpublic was definitely my biggest insecurity. Gosh I had no idea how to navigate that one. I was self conscious about what other people would say. _ I got so much love, support and encouragement from other mamas both online and in real life. I’m so grateful because it gave me the courage and confidence to just do it! That’s what it’s all about after all right? Today’s mantra: “It’s okay if you’re struggling, just get through today. Keep going. It’s okay if you’re not okay now, you will be”. ,_ Someone once asked me why I like to “air my dirty laundry” online. And by that I’m assuming they mean, every time I share the not so “nice” bits. I like to call them the behind the scenes. _ You know cos we all show our best versions online don’t we? The highlight reel! But here’s the thing.....as someone who in the past has been amazing at suffering in silence, I have gotten comfort from seeing other people brave enough to share that they’re also struggling. _ The people who’ve been vulnerable and shared their journey. It made me feel less alone... Four months #postpartum tomorrow! Wow, where exactly did the time go? It has hands down been the most physically challenging 4 months and yet also the happiest! . It’s also been one month since I decided to get back into the world of exercise. I gotta confess, it’s been way harder to get motivated this time than it was when I first had Ty 9 years ago. . My body is also very different to what I expected it to be. Although I’m not exactly sure what I expected in the first place. . I’ve always been a go big or go home kind of person but I’ve been learning to listen to my body. Taking it easy, pacing myself and not putting myself under unnecessary stress or pressure. . Allowing enough time between workout for my body to recover. Trusting the process and knowing that it’s not a race to the finish line. It’s not about abs (although it’d be nice to have some one day) . It’s about quality of life. I want to be healthy for my kids. To have energy to run around and do all the things with my boys. I want to be healthy for myself! For my health. . So whilst I’m at it, I may as well enjoy the ride. Get up, show up and do the best that I can. Be gentle with myself but also love myself enough to know WHY I’m doing this. . This body is amazing and I will try to affirm that to myself anytime I falter. It grew 2 human beings for goodness sake. . Feeling the most gratitude for people helping me along this journey. @rocketqueenvintage Best workout buddy ever!!!! @wearepopfit always such a welcoming, fun and friendly environment and those mama + baby classes give me life! @mum.strength the PT with the mostest, making sure I stay on track and are focused on recovery and building my strength. . This is the moment I held Nami for the first time. I was so tired and it disbelief. I did it! OMG I did it! Eighteen minutes of pushing and finally our little angel made his entrance in a somewhat dramatic way. Turns out my waters never broke and the little swimmer was born encaul (this means he was still in the amniotic sack). I was holding my son and overwhelmed with emotion.
