Reflection// Project 3
Through out this assignment I've get to learn the right way of how to reach to famous designer. Although non of them reply back ( 3 people ) so I ran into plan B which are person that I knew. I ended up choosing my boyfriend's sister she is a creative who produce hand make candle also running small business in the same time.
The questing that I asked her are more about running business, target audience, and the style that are involved. I've get to talk to her through out massage in Facebook and went to her office to get some photos taken I very liked how she has her home as a studio I can see that she using her space very productively. When it comes to the production I have to consider what style I wanted to achieve. I am looking for casual fun and quirky style.
I did redo my design because when we went on review class it seems like my work are out dated and not suit the theme that I want. It is very important to consider typeface and colour because with those if it goes wrong direction it could effect the whole design and get influence into another feel. I also printed out couple times to check if it place in the right direction or not, check scale and colour
Final result is quite satisfy I choose white matte 160 gsm paper because it will be fold so I choose a medium weigh not to thick and not too thin. Also matte paper gave the feel of organic more than gloss paper which suit more in my design.

final design
I have came up with simple colour also play around with layout and typeface. The illustration i pulled out from designer’s personality. She likes fresh feeling so i including the tree into my design.

mock up printed in colour version. I found out that print stuff out to check are more effective than looking through screen so many area that need to be fix I can see that my font are too big, the layout in second page is not right also to print out in double page it needs to be long sided otherwise it’s going to lay not perfectly so from this I can develop more and will print out to see result again.

( class review )
this my work before I redesign it I’ve got the feed back that It’s out dated and seem like a design 10 years ago so I need to consider new colour, typeface...maybe something casual can even be hand written font and play around with baby head itself I think it can be a park of drawing place on one side of the page.
My finish product going to be A4 folded into small booklet.

I think it would be nice too see the real place so I went to her working space to get some images ( btw Bones is the name of this cute cat above) this is some example Images that I’ve got. I can see that she has a very strong style not just in her products but also included in her office decoration too.

Vatanika (fashion designer/ owner)
Mel Stringer ( Illustrator/ Graphic designer)
Pomme chen (typographer/ graphic designer )
Nari Luna (typographer/ illustrator/ graphicdesigner)
Waan Pivasiri ( brand owner/ creative )
I have been sent an emails to one of fashion designer and two graphic designer but non of them reply me back.
So I ended up interviewing with my bf’s sister she’s ( Waan Pivasiri ) is an owner of YOU ME & BONES candle shop all the products she is the one who design it A small business but very into creative industry.
I don’t really close to her that much so I started to add her in Facebook and massaged her to ask for interview project.
here are answers from my questions !
What favourite quote/mantra do you live by? There's not really a quote or mantra I live by, but there is one that is currently relevant to my work, which goes along the lines of "Don't worry when people imitate your work. Worry when they stop." It's hard seeing competitors popping up and make very similar things to what I do, but at the same time it also shows that the work I'm producing is creating enough interest that other makers want a piece of, if that makes sense.
What is your favorite part in your career? The candle making process is my absolute favorite - I love working for myself and creating unique and beautiful products. Going to markets to sell my wares is also fun. It’s really nice to see people from social media taking their time to come see my products and meet me in person.
How would you describe the style of the product? Quirky, creepy, cute and unique.
Who is your target audience? First I thought my target market was young, alternative types; but the more I meet my customers at markets the more I see that my products appeal to a wide range of people: from young 14 year olds to elderlies who are intrigued by dolls. It’s really nice to see that while my products are niche, so target market is pretty broad.
What are your plans for the future? Taking candle making away from home into a private studio. Making more moulds to produce more candles in the day. Hoping to also create a new, ‘designery’ container candle range.
Reflection
I was surprise that we are using Tumblr as a tool to present and reflect our work because I’ve never publish my idea into this large community before. Most of all time I don’t really get in touch with this, tool it is such a good place to share our creative or opinion a large group of people having online conversation about there interest subject. But as I said that I don’t really use tumblr that much which does make it hards for me to posting stuffs continually and when I tried to find stuff I found it hard to search for it. I think this too is appropriate for sharing and explore ideas more then searching information. I like how tumblr automatically helping up to start a conversation between us classmate.
Unconventional Type Study. The point of this project was to create a letter form from unconventional materials in order to start understanding experimental typography. Type III. 2016.
This would have to be the definition of unconventional type! Such an unusual place to find a letterform, and a very unusual material to make a letterform also, but would work great if meat the right context for the design need.
Reminds me of this discussion
Must be hard to look at for vegetarians. Interesting form of transient type.
T bone! I very like how the design got that fresh feeling into it. Cause of the meat itself and those vibrant colour in the meat, very effective and such a rare piece of art in a way.

Through out my research those are some common questions that’s I found. I did separate the questions into two parts one for fashion designer and one for graphic designer. Most question has been create as much as broad if possible to prevent a short answer such as YES and No

Process 1: Inspiration creative
I chose fashion designer named Vatanika as a first priority because She is a well know and successful fashion design. I ver admire how she is a very independent working women. She is passionate and love on designing clothes.
Vatanika combines impeccable tailoring techniques with the usage of top quality textile while keeping in mind the functionality of each piece. Her collections embrace practicality with a touch of femininity in contemporary designs. She seeks to fulfill every woman’s wardrobe with timeless elegant pieces that are most flattering for her natural figure.
Renown for her outstanding prints, Vatanika artfully plays with delicatedly printed fabric with feminine-structure silhouettes. Her signature silhouettes and prints are inspired by the transformation of natural organisms. Vatanika quickly becomes one of Thailand’s forefront fashion designers. Her work is featured extensively in Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and many other reputable fashion magazines.
I would like to know more about her creative how how she came up with this amazing ideas for each collection.

Tom Moglu
Tom Moglu’s collages contain a sense of soul, located in the history of the paper through time and interaction. Although it has been dealt with roughly, having passed through hands or underfoot, the artist’s treatment of the worn and dirtied media is delicate and thoughtful. The aesthetic of the artwork is minimalist, and Moglu’s choice to mount his collage on record sleeves and covers refers again to the notion of objects containing a past.
“the most exciting thing about collage is the process. Some of my most satisfying results have come from mistakes. Especially hand made collage. Gluing something down and than tearing it away. Having to work around saving a piece of work that you think you may have ruined. These moments of uncertainty can give birth to absolute creative utopia. Only for a moment though. Than it’s on to the next thing. I’m a fan of old weathered paper. I frequently wash ink off of old magazine pages to get the look I want. I will use glue or acrylic gel medium depending on what surface I’m using. I work in layers from there with a mix of collage and decollage. Recently I’ve been experimenting with pigment transfers on found paper and found wood panels.”- said Moglu

Week10 / class activity
this class collage has been introduced by Andy, He’s been showing some awesome works by Christopher Day, Melinda Gipson, Sergei Sviatchenko and get us to forming a letterform using collage technique by cutting glossy magazine and rearrange it all together
The final result not quite effective as I thought it is going to be, with this design I actually cut more pieces and rearrange many times. I like the feeling of doing this activity because everything was in control by getting to pick and cut paper by ourself but the hard part is that the idea I want to make a letter “A” with some kind of meaning but as the result shown it is quite hard to communicate with the viewer.
Here are a range of absolutely beautiful zines that I bought today at the Melbourne Art Book Fair! I was particularly interested in the zine created by Mel Stringer called ‘Every Morning’. This zine featured interviews with different women as well as little portraits of them across the page. I thought this would be a good source of inspiration for our Creative Interview Project. There is something to be learnt from each of these zines that I can put into my own project!
What a great source of ideas for the final project! Zines are fantastic because they’re full of personality and can therefore convey the “essence” of the designer in a unique way.
More zine inspiration for the upcoming assignment.
I love the use of colour and illustration in these zines.
These zines are lovely! They would be great for the ‘Ask me anything’ assignment as they make it very easy to organise information and provide a visually interesting item!

Week 9 / Tutorial
5 questions interview
This class we get to share our creatives to class mates discussing about how to write an appropriate massage that will suit for each creatives and to think about what tool are we going to use for the interview.
It is good to know what’s there choice of other, some people aiming for famous creatives which is a very good thing in a way it is encourage us to go another step of communication world.
For me I found that email is the common way to communicate it can be formal or casual depends on how we write our massage.
Typeface & Furniture
We always say that design comes from life, so I did some research about the elements in our life and typeface . I searched online and I found that using furniture can make a different typeface or I can say that a typeface can make interesting furniture. The above pictures show us some interesting typefaces which are made by chairs.
Why I said that a typeface can make interesting furniture. It is because a chair with a special shape can attract the attention of customers. Therefore, designers came up with a lot of ideas about how can we make a chair looks special. Of course, the comfort is also a factor to be considered.

This one I will say design comes from letter ( For those S and C chairs ) : ) unique and modern design in Both chairs but wondering in the C chair isn’t going to be hard to sit with curve back like that?
