Fork
Fork Restaurant, Philadelphia, PA
After a long hiatus from work overload, I am back again. For the past months, I have been to a number of restaurants and of course took pictures of the meals. I will try to catch up with all the posts over the next few days. Another exciting thing is that I am in NYC over the next few months, so be prepared for tons of restaurants.
I went to Fork about 3 months ago after a few friends visited from out of town. I have always wanted to try chef Eli Kulp’s food after all the accolades he has been getting. Especially, I have heard many great things about the muscovy duck for two at Fork. Reservation was made and there we went. We were seated at the table right by the kitchen. Other than the duck, the four of us consulted our waiter for other dishes to order. We later found out that he pushed a lot of dishes and we excessively over ordered. The house made bagel was delicious and a great start to the meal. The two appetizers were interesting. Kulp’s pasta dishes were great as expected. The black and white was my favorite. Now came the duck. For the muscovy duck, we got the meat, meatball, and two salad dishes. I don’t know how can this be for two people. They must be very hungry two people. The duck was very well-cooked and I really liked the Sichuan peppercorn sauce. Was it worth the hype? I’m not sure. To this day, I am still blown away by the duck at Eleven Madison Park. We put so much or our attention to the duck that we forgot the Branzino. Even though the dish was cold, it was still quite delicious.
Fork was a good restaurant. With the price I paid however, I probably will not come back. I much prefer its sister High Street next door.
