@amazebob
yes im addicted to attention and orgasms and food and shiny jewlery and 7$ Iced Lattes. does that really not sound like an awesome lifestyle to you
i want this hanging up above the elephant's foot
Yeah okay Ill reblog that!
Not a scholar at first, but the guy who wrote Jaws hated that people used it to justify hating sharks so much he dedicated the rest of his life to shark research and advocacy.
The woman who popularized gender reveals wishes she hadn't, afaik.
(afaik- the woman who popularized gender reveals did so because she had a long history of miscarriages. The reveal was a celebration of the fact that one of her pregnancies had gotten far enough that there WAS a physical sex to reveal. It was never intended to be like... *gestures at modern gender reveals* all that. That same kid later came out as trans and yes, the family had a second gender reveal for that lol.)
This whole thread is so beautiful to me that I can explain it
The man who invented the K-Cup coffee pod almost 20 years ago says he regrets doing so and can't understand the popularity of the products t
Yoshua Bengio, who is considered to be one of the three "godfathers" of AI, feels "lost" over his life's work.
my stance on the trans athlete debate is always and forever going to be that sports should be completely desegregated because humans have one of the smallest levels of sexual dimorphism in the animal kingdom and the disparity we see between male and female performance is entirely caused by social factors rather than anything biological. “should trans women compete against cis women” i think cis men and cis women could compete fairly but that’s apparently a little too spicy for people to wrap their minds around bc they’ve been told their whole lives women are biologically inferior & never thought to question that. or wonder if it’s maybe a self fulfilling prophecy of some kind. are women biologically inferior or do they appear so because patriarchy demands that of us?
and once you start to factor in how boy's sports receive far more support, funding, and opportunities than girl sports. how young men are encouraged to work out and eat because they are "growing boys" while girls are still shamed for lifting weights and eating "too much" because they will get "bulky"; you start to wonder how much of it is nature vs. nurture.
not to be a dirty commie or anything but i don't think any one person should have enough money to solve world hunger and then get to decide not to
Not to indulge in childish fantasies but what if every time I checked the news it wasn’t worse?
In fort worth texas theres is this water installation I used to go to as a kid that is an uneven, 20+foot , constantly wet stair case with no guardrails or hand holds or really any safety features that decends into a churning and rushing water pit. It also has a kill count of 4 if you were wondering
OP, does it still exist? Does it have a name? Who allowed this murder fountain to be built?
Yes it still exists and you can visit it today
The Fort Worth Water Gardens is a beautiful and refreshing oasis adjacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center. Designed by Philip Johnson, t
I know this has been said so many times in so many words but it is never any less infuriating that we never seem to have basic social services money but we always have fucking war crime money
fucking evergreen post I guess

Business group expresses concern that allowing 99% of the human population to not starve to death may result in catastrophic loss of 0.001% profit growth in Q4 - can we afford to risk it?
Business group expresses concern that new government program to extend survival of all living organisms on planet by one year could hit consumers hard in their paycheck. What will total extinctiom abeyance cost you, and can we afford to think about it?

I think this is the best scientist photograph I have ever seen.
But people didn’t believe him on reddit. So Watterson made the photo sequence into a gif.
Here’s the gif for anyone curious.
I had to go through the notes to find the gif. Not because I didn’t believe him but because I wanted to see it.
Fantastic
i really love this piece - bird window collision deterrents should absolutely be mandatory for large buildings not only in NY, but nationwide. designing architecture to not kill the world around us should be the norm.
don’t leave this in the comments!
Losing my mind over this article
TIL that the reason lead levels in children’s blood have dropped 85% in the past thirty years is because of an unknown scientist who fought car companies to end leaded gasoline. He also removed it from paint, suggested its removal from pipes, and campaigned for the removal of lead solder from cans.

Yep. It also correlates extremely strongly with an increasing decrease of violent crime. One of the symptoms of low level constant lead exposure is increased aggression and volatility.
“Unknown scientist”? That was Clair Cameron Patterson.
Gas companies are still so mad at him he’s “unknown scientist”, know his name
Daily reminder that health and safety standards like these are what politicians mean when they talk about “deregulation.”
Patterson died 5 December 1995.
Petition to make his date of death a Tumblr holiday celebrated by talking about cool shit the gas and petroleum industries don’t want us to know about, and fighting to continue his work.
Happy Clair Cameron Patterson Day! Remember to hold Big Business and our country’s leadership for safety regulation and environmental preservation standards!
This should be a bigger news tbh
