You know what I think about a lot? How Sherlock and John react to remembering the night before the Fall. Like, someone says something that suddenly reminds them of that horrible night. And I can almost imagine how that feels. Because there have been moments in our lives that we don’t want to remember. As soon as we are reminded of them, we can feel everything we went through in that moment and it’s really hard to think about something else then. All we want to do is forget that moment and what it had felt like.
And that night probably is the worst night of their lives: finding the kids, Sherlock seeing Moriarty’s video and realising what’s about to happen, Sherlock and John both at 221B and waiting for the inevitable arrest, Sherlock being scared that John doesn’t believe in him, John being scared of what will happen to Sherlock, them running away together, them finding Moriarty at Kitty’s house and finding out about his lies, their anger and helplessness in that moment. Then John going to Mycroft and learning that Sherlock’s own brother helped in his downfall and having no idea about what to do. Sherlock finally coming in to terms with the idea that he’ll have to leave John and asking for Molly’s help. Both of them at Bart’s, scared and trying to hide it. John didn’t know then that this was his last time with Sherlock in the same room for the next two years.
I mean, all of those terrible feelings they went through in that night, anger, fear, helplessness, all of it comes back everytime they think about that night.
And it’s not only what happened then, it’s also everything that happened after it. Their whole life turned upside down after that night. The life that they had gotten used to, the life they actually liked came to an end that night.
It must be so horrible to remember it.
