She's selfish she's loving she has a traumatic backstory and mommy issues and she's the most powerful sorceress of all time. Also Anya Chalotra acts her ass off playing her

netflix yennefer is almost entirely overlooked in favor of white boy sidecharacter despite being 1/3 of the main characters herself. id argue that fan content centering jaskier existing on the scale it does is in itself misogynistic, especially because he is frequently directly taking her place both as geralt's love interest and ciri's parental figure, but she tends to get unfairly villified or surface level girlboss characterization on top of that. she is the third most popular character in the general witcher fandom on ao3, but has less than half the works Jaskier does for reference. of the 12k (out of overall 52k witcher fics) fics that have her tagged, Jaskier/Geralt is still the pairing on 5.5k of them. Yennefer in game and book fandom spaces is still often treated with misogyny, and some of this stems from the source material, but the way she has been essentially replaced as one of the protagonists of the show by jaskier is egregious.

Gemma Scout:

The show is partly to blame here for refusing to give her interiority but some fans want her to be erased or die so Mark and Helly can get together which is misogynistic and also racist since she is Asian and they are both white.

Gemma was used as a prop for Mark's grief for 2 whole seasons but she is a whole Russian literature professor who's been through some crazy shit. She deserves better from both fandom and the show.

Gemma Scout propaganda:

The fandom uses this character as a punching bag because it's in the way of the innie one, and what could be just a casualty that's common in fandoms when two pairings happen to the same character, ended up developing into racist comments just because the actress is a poc. An actress who has seen the hate and barely interacts with fans thanks to it and talks about her character's love story with Mark Scout, Gemma's husband, as if she had to ask for forgiveness. That's how aware she is of the hate. From there, the bullying in the markgemma fandom started, and to add more fire, because the other side of the fandom only knows how to bully and doesn't care enough about them to mind their own business, they also say that Gemma is a nothing burger because, to their dismay, she is very much alive and Mark Scout loves her.

If that wasn't enough, now even in the submitted propaganda we can see that they choose to blame the writers because nothing else worked, because people still care about Gemma, and that propaganda is making some shit up about her plot being mysoginist or not knowing enough about a character who had a whole 50 min episode where we saw her as a person and her as the true victim of Lumon and the resilency for the two years that she had while been down there.

Honestly? The Gemma Scout fandom and the markgemma fandom are fucking soldiers, still existing even with the hate we are seeing everywhere from fake fans who refuse to see beyond her. Still, when any other character has similarities to the ones they critique in Gemma, they see them differently. But not Gemma, not the character that is an inconvenience and "the asian nanny", the one who deserves better away from her husband, aka the butt of the joke of a fandom that has even insulted Gemma's followers to no end. They are bullies, and in 2026, that behavior should not be tolerated.

Vote for Gemma Scout as a reminder of what fandoms have become and no one should allow any longer.

It's really not the first time that I see this take, but to even hear the 'maybe Gemma's fate lies outside the Scout family' 'Gemma will have a life of her own and leaving the Scout family is the right choice for her' look, I can sniff this from a mile away, so it's not even about the thinly veiled desire to get rid of her, it's not about the exclusionary discourse and the fact that these fans want her far away from the ensemble (found family) cast and the white ship, it's about the total misinterpretation of the canon material.

It's like, the blindness it takes to not see how deeply the Scout-Hale family cares for Gemma, how when we first got introduced to them we saw an unbalanced and weird dynamic because SOMEONE KEY AND VITALLY IMPORTANT WAS MISSING FROM IT, how their closeness transformed into awkwardness because of Gemma's death, how intextricable she is from their lives, how the family unit is the FOUR of them (Mark and Gemma and Devon and Ricken), that the FOUR of them together, for all their flaws and quirks, is their optimal, happiest and most balanced state. How can people suggest with a straight face that there'd be no consequences sending the very-much-alive-tortured-for-years missing family member off into a 'brand new future' on her own'??? These people's takes for Gemma's development solely involve keeping her away from everyone that canonically loves and care about her, come on. Come on. You really want Gemma to have zero support and navigate trauma and healing alone? That's freaking fucking telling of how you view her character. Assuming that Mark is going to dump her ass is filthy and out-of-character, but assuming that she can just extricate herself from all of their lives for no reason is purely malicious. Like, no matter what happens next, THAT WEIRD FAMILY IS PART OF GEMMA AND SHE IS A PART OF THEM
