​Location: Headlights Bar Time: After Midnight, Closing Time

Drake had been working at Headlights as a bartender for the past few days since moving to the cove and was enjoying his job, partially because he was able to sample the liquors while he worked. The tips certainly weren’t hurting him much either. The night had winded down and it was nearing the end of his shift and the bar was nearly empty, just one or two patrons hanging out at the end of the night. Towel hung over his shoulder, Drake smirked as he turned to one of the patrons at the bar, “It’s midnight, you know what that means” he picked up the bottle of tequila from the bar and poured out two shots into empty shot glasses, sliding one across the bar to the other, “Free tequila shots” he continued to smirk before downing a shot.

"You know, this is the first i’ve ever heard of that. I’ve been going to the wrong bars all this time.” Words were laced with a laugh as she took the shot glass between her fingers, eyeing the liquid before bringing the glass to her lips and drinking it, a brief grimace because she never really got used to that. Her job let her keep the weirdest of hours, no nine to five that had her dreaming of going to bed at ten so she could wake up to her alarms, so often her socialising was done well after dark, mostly at bars such as this one. “Normally I get the, why are you in a bar alone at midnight, not a free shot for still being here.”

“Yeah I don’t think it’s meant to be doing that” Auggie mused as a cloud of dangerous looking smoke escaped from the engine of the bus, throwing his hands deep into the pockets of his jeans as he lets out a low whistle. He supposed he should be glad that this had happened during the bus ride home from his therapy session over in Beaumont rather on the way there. Just goes to show the wonders of talking it all out, if this happened any other time Auggie would likely be a blubbering mess, too close a reminder to the accident in which he’d lost his leg a few years prior but yet here he was cracking jokes like usual. “You know, I think it might be broken” He turns to the nearest person, a shit-eating-grin on his lips and mischief sparkling in his blue hues.

“Not even buses are immune to picking up bad habits, who knew?” If she didn’t joke about it, she’d only find herself increasingly irritated that of course this was happening to the bus she was on . Her gaze was all but glued to the smoke coming from the engine, as if she could just will it to stop so they cold just get back on and get home, but unfortunately her mind wasn’t quite that powerful. “I feel like we’re in a bad ad for car insurance, I didn’t even know smoke could be that color in real life. Mechanics 101, when the bus breaks down and you’re forced off, make sure you’re ready to live in the very ads you see on tv and laugh at.”

“Okay so,” Summer opened her journal and flipped to the right page. Sun streamed through the windows and cascaded down onto the table, stretching across her nonsense scribbles. She was so desperate for some inspiration she had started inviting strangers to sit with her. The working theory was that if she talked to enough people, Summer might be able to conjure something up by her deadline. “First question: what is your biggest fear?” Was it a little invasive? Maybe, but she needed something – anything – to click. 

“Okay, yeah, a little more intense than I was expecting.” Amelie was basically already an open book, nothing ever hidden too deep than basic prodding didn’t get her to reveal it. Impromptu interviews weren't new to her, but they very rarely opened talking about fears. “Clowns, or maybe when it’s so dark out you can’t see your own hands in front of you. Definitely one of those.” Her true fear, professional failure and involuntary isolation, was one of the few things she wouldn’t open up about -- no matter how much prodding. “Is this like twenty questions, do I get to make you answer them too?”
