Women in STEM of WWII - The real “Rosie Riveters”
In most countries women were not permitted to fight on the front lines of the war. Instead, they supported the war effort by learning, training and taking up jobs usually held by men.
These women did a lot more than rivet, they designed, built and tested thousands of aircraft in factories across Canada and the US. Prior to the war, women would have been mostly banned from taking up such jobs.

The Berlin Wall: Then & Now

Where America Votes
Project of the Day—Here’s something we didn’t even know we wanted: Abandoned in Place: Preserving America’s Space History is a photo book that looks at America’s early space facilities and launch sites. It’s often beautiful—foliage overtakes a stairwell, a metallic launch structure towers into the sky, with nothing attached to it—and sometimes even a little eerie.

I’m so tired of people telling me German is an “ugly, angry” language. When my German teacher tells us jokes it’s the sweetest, happiest language in the world. When I teach my father the word for daughter he smiles, repeating “Tochter” to himself until he gets it right, and in that moment German sounds like pride. There’s nothing angry or ugly about a language that never says goodbye, only “until we meet again.”
Thank you for this
