PSA: to all my equestrians

So the hot weather is officially here and only going to get worse as we head back towards summer in this northern hemisphere of ours so don’t forget to take care of yourself just as much as you take care of our wonderful four-legged partners. Take snacks with you to the barn; make sure you have water on hand! Blood sugar crashes are real and scary so make sure you are prepared when you inevitably have a day where you over do it. Don’t push yourself too hard as you are adjusting to the heat. Don’t be afraid to sit down and take a moment to catch your breath and let your body cool back down. If you are alone at the barn and you happen to feel the heat sickness coming on don’t just keep pushing yourself even if you have a horse to take care of and things to get done. Your health and well being are just as important as your equine partners.

and if anyone else tries to work you when you’re feeling sick DONT DO IT. I’ve had this happen and I got sick behind the barn because she wouldn’t let me take a break. STAY HYDRATED AND HEALTHY.

omg i literally worry everyone so much it is starting to worry me hahahah 

but seriously guys i’ve had my blood sugar crash a couple times, and it is not fun.. most currently it was at a zoo, have had it happen after lessons too.. keeping granola bars at the barn and extra water should be mandatory, because we really don’t realize how much we’re working till we’re on the verge of passing out
