On love, relationship shifts and parenting: When my parents divorced, my world crumbled. They were the epitome of a relationship to me. It felt like my life was fake, like everything was a lie. I lacked the perspective to realize that people were multifaceted. That the good was still good and that life is cyclical. Everything has a season or seasons, it's okay to move on. Change is constant. When we resist change, we resist being human. The very essence of humanity. I didn't realize that I was going to be okay, that I could still take the love I learned with me. That the relationship was my parent's and not mine. It wasn't up to me to hold them together. It is essential to teach your kids what I know now. That people are in charge of themselves, that a shift in a relationship dynamic is not inherently bad, just that things will look different and that it's okay, organic and healthy. That love does not belong in a box and it does not only express itself in one certain dynamic. It is limitless and it can reach us no matter where we are.
