amibones:
“I know, I know you didn’t, and I didn’t mean to start one in response, but I did.” She took a deep breath, glancing up at the ceiling and pulling the strand of hair tighter within her fingers. “I guess I did, but didn’t want to. But hearing you say it made me jump onto the defense. And…” Amelia took another deep breath, steeling herself, “I can’t change how I feel about him overnight, but for you, I’m willing to give Thorfinn a chance. I’m going to try. Because I miss my best friend.”
Hands wringing together awkwardly, she nodded, lips still pressed together as she pushed back the emotion of that night in general. It had been awful, and overwhelming, and simply heartbreaking. “I guess I just… you’ve seen how happy he makes me, and he’s never been anything but kind and good to me so I just,” she frowned, and rubbed rubbed just above her brow. “I don’t want to hear negative comments and accusations, he doesn’t deserve that… okay?”
Amelia nodded, closing her eyes tightly to hold back another string of tears. They hadn’t spoken in nearly months, and yet trying to heal what has been broken hurt almost as much as the break itself. “I can do that. For you. I just want you happy, Glen. I want my best friend back.” Amelia offered a weak smile and tilted her head to the side. “Can I still tease him?”
