Update 20.08.18 Opening
The Aldingbourne Trust Country Centre looked amazing on opening day with the cedar shingles glinting in the early morning sunshine when the Blogging Team arrived.
Update 20.08.18 Opening
What an amazing opening day! A building only truly comes alive when it is serving the people and the purpose it was built for. The faces of the visitors and the Trust staff on opening day said it all. Congratulations to Aldingbourne Trust on your 40th Birthday from us all at Amiri Construction, we have loved working with you.
Update 20.08.18 Opening
The new Country Centre is equipped with state of the art offices, meeting rooms and a beautiful conference centre. This will enable the Trust to both support their clients more efficiently and also generate income from hiring out the facilities.
Update 20.08.18 Opening
The stunning kitchen performs an integral role at the Country Centre, not only feeding visitors, but also training Trust clients in all aspects of catering from food preparation and cooking to working the till and serving.
Update 20.08.18 Opening
The fantastic new shop is full of interesting, exciting and useful gifts. As with the previous shop, the Trust’s clients will continue to work in the new facility, learning how to stock and sell items as well as engaging with the public and gaining vital social skills.
Update 20.08.18 Opening
From top to bottom the Country Centre is full of amazing features. The attention to detail is a testament to all involved and Amiri are very proud to have been the chosen constructors on this fantastic project.
Update 20.08.18 Opening
Overlooking the fantastic farm the building is equally impressive from the rear, with its connecting bridges to the cafe terrace and outside rest area for Trust staff.
Update 21.06.18
With Practical Completion achieved and the M&E fully commissioned we are less than a week away from handover at our beautiful Aldingbourne Trust site. See below for a full update...
Update 21.06.18
The exterior of the building really does look fantastic! The use of the two tone cedar shingles, gabion walling and wooden decking cleverly helps the building become part of the landscape. The car park tarmac has now been laid and the parking lines painted. The external decking areas are almost complete and on the sunny summer day the Blogging Team visited it was easy to imagine customers sitting outside having a relaxing coffee!
Update 21.06.14
Internally the attention to detail and the quality of the fit and finish is superb. There is a contemporary light and airy feel to the interior that is much bigger than the outside of the building would suggest. The final decorating has begun with the lime green feature walls looking striking against the crisp white interior. The multiple lighting units are all fitted and working and the media display screens are all in place.
With the kitchen tiling and ancillaries in place the fit out will take place next week.
Update 21.06.18
One of the most exciting features of the Aldingbourne Trust build is the stainless steel slide! It loops in a spiral from the first to the ground floor and is sure to be popular with children and adults alike. Amiri Project Manager Adrian, Pre-Construction Coordinator Emma and Blogging Team member Ben were very happy to give it a thorough testing! See a short video of the slide in action below...

Update 18.05.18
With the two tone cedar shingles complete and the gabion stone walling freshly washed the Aldingbourne Trust building looked stunning in the early summer sun.
Update 18.05.18
Inside the march towards completion is very evident with painters, decorators and plumbers hard at work and electricians installing the last of the lighting units.
There is a reassuring hum from the plant room as the mechanical systems have all been commissioned and final commissioning of the electrical systems are well underway. The building passed its pressure test last month with flying colours.
With the block paving now complete at the front of the building the road brush arrives next week in preparation for tarmacking of the entrance road.

Technical focus - Latex Flooring
Large floor areas like those at Aldingbourne invariably have a slight unevenness due to the difficulty of getting a very heavy wet material like concrete to lay completely flat during its pour.
To make sure the floors are completely even a latex self-leveling compound (sometimes called latex screed or mortar) helps smooth over areas that are not level. This is usually done before painting, tiling, or carpeting a subfloor. A self- levelling floor screeding compound contains latex because it has the flexibility to move evenly without cracking.
Once it is prepared, mixed and poured it will flatten out across the uneven floor and naturally self-level due to gravity...with a little help! Despite its name the compound is not entirely self-levelling as the surface tension can restrict spread. To overcome this the mixture is pushed around the floor with a trowel and spikey roller and the compound will gradually run down any slopes to form its own level in the hollows. As latex only takes a day to dry work can continue with the project with little disruption.
Update 19.04.18
Wow! It’s been a really busy few weeks at our Aldingbourne Trust build. See below for the full updates!
