From the Desk of Executive Director DuShun Scarbrough August 26, 2020 It is out of great concern for the citizens of Arkansas that the Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission is actively monitoring the weather forecast reports and consulting with local weather meteorologists regarding how to move forward with the “March on Little Rock,” activities planned for August 28, 2020. After consulting with multiple meteorologists and in anticipation of possible expected sustained high winds, flooding, downed power lines, and power outages, with our first priority being safety for the citizens of Arkansas, Executive Director DuShun Scarbrough has made the decision to postpone all activities previously planned during the “March on Little Rock,” out of caution. We encourage all Arkansans to follow all weather alerts and advisements. As our plans may change during the commemoration of the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington, we encourage all citizens to ensure you are registered to vote and to utilize your voice during the upcoming election, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. emphasized during his, “Give Us the Ballot,” speech and throughout his workings. Please contact us at (501) 683-1300 with any additional questions or concerns. https://www.instagram.com/p/CEXgwu0BLuC/?igshid=1itfau78rr57q
