MISSunderstood

I am a development worker. And a full-time instagrammer. I have always been in love with photography. I grew up in a house where momentoes were treasured -- the most valued ones were pictures. The problem was I found tinkering with DSLR a strenuous work. I love to capture moments. But I want to do it with less fuss. When I had my iphone, I started experimenting with mobile photography. I did some research and I was blown away by how beautiful and accessible photography has become. Then came instagram and my life was changed for the better. My eyes began to see beyond the mundane. My soul opened up to a world that is gloriously made. I began to appreciate the smallest details -- a moth settling on a flower; the remnant of the evening rain in the form of a dew; the laughter of a child memorialized by a single snapshot. I began to love the outdoors and to explore Mother Nature like I've never had before. I wake up each day with a promise to see only the beauty of mother nature and the goodness in people. I go to bed at night fulfilled, loved and treasured. I am grateful to God everyday for mobile photography. Somehow, I take pride in calling myself an instagrammer rather than a photographer.

When I was a development worker, part of my job was to help in the post-typhoon relief efforts. We were there in the aftermath of Sendong and Yolanda. As an adminstrator of a three-person regional hq, I was mostly confined within the four walls of our office taking and making calls with our partners —- planning logistics, negotiating with our suppliers, looking for equipments, etc. My colleagues knew how much I love the rain so when the tempest died and all relief efforts exerted, they’d drive me around the areas where the typhoon left its mark. This was one of those areas. Nothing was damaged here except for the remnants of the rain. And for that, I was thankful. I’m on Day 30th! 😭😭😭😭 This is my third round of @whole30 and the most challenging yet. The first week was a nightmare. From September 26, 2018 #freedom2018 I said hello to the beach today, and my soul was lifted 10x higher. It's easy to get distracted and lose sight of the important things in life. Building relationships is a struggle for me. Nurturing them, the hardest. You would always see me with the same group of people. People whom I truly love and who accept the sensitive girl disguised as a woman. In a world where people want to stand out and be recognized for whatever unique ability that they have, I want to be connected with people who possess different characteristics and abilities from me, who will fill the missing pieces to complete the puzzle that is my life. And so we become common. Unique, but common. No one has to stand out. It shouldn't be a competition. Let's just fill each other with goodness and maybe even love. I have to say, the pieces are coming together -- family, relatives, community, work, and friends. #icouldnotaskformore I was reminded of my journey to discovering who I truly am by discovering God. The beautiful...wonderful...and amazing thing about getting to know God is that you get to discover who you truly are -- Not defined by what other people say about you. Not defined by your job description. Not defined by your wordly possessions. Not defined by your wordly accomplishments. Not even by what you think of yourself. Because none of it matters. What only matters is what God thinks of you. And He thinks fondly of you. I realized that I will always choose Him. I chose Him. And by choosing Him, He gave me the freedom to choose me, to take care of me. Make it a point to add in your to-do list to take care of yourself. It doesn't have to be the #1 item on the list. It can even be the last thing on your list.
