Scream (1996) is literally about 2 cis white high school boys going on a murder spree because they blame powerful women for their problems and don’t realize the harm of their actions because they assume everything in life goes by their rules. They lose.
Scream 2 (1997) is about a cis white high school boy trying to convince people that media and movies convince youth to do bad things rather than mental instability. It is also about a cis white rich woman refusing to reconcile the terrible, misogynistic actions of her son becoming she “didn’t raise him that way.” They lose.
Scream 3 (2000) is about a cis white college boy going on a murder spree because he lacks the emotional intelligence to realize why a woman is doing better than him, lashing out like a child and using “mommy didn’t love me” as an excuse to bully, abuse, traumatize and psychologically torment women. He loses.
Scream 4 (2011) is about the emotionally and physically abusive cis white heterosexual couple that will do utterly horrible things to the people around them just to get famous and be seen as “poor victims” of social media. They lose.
All of them condemn shaming sexually active women, capitalizing on other people’s trauma, victim blaming rape survivors, infidelity, misogyny and blaming media for the actions of its viewers.
