A Christmas present - I wanted to share my favorite collection piece. Probably the rarest Lies of P collectible at the moment:
My Blue Fairy - The Sophia Monad Figure
A Korea-only promotion, this handcrafted figure was released alongside the artbook on a first come first serve basis, and ONLY 100 are produced, for 420k Won which is about ~$300, and I received mine as a Christmas gift from my family for $1,500 as an import because I've kind of had a rough year...not my favorite....to say the least. I got extremely lucky to be able to snatch up one of them and it does spark joy to see her in my collection. My friends even said my display I made for her looks like a proper shrine.
The figure is beautifully painted and looks almost alive and full of ergo when set in the right light. Like there is a soul looking at me.
Each Sophia is hand painted which means no two will be 100% alike.
I mostly stumbled upon it by accident while looking for some streamer or other selling their P-organ perhaps. It's something I'd love to have and the one for Overture I'm still convinced is kind of a scam because it looks like cheap resin rather than the luxurious bronze/brass from the VIP packages from the early release of the game.
Look at the difference....
Hope you enjoyed this little share. I'd love to be able to find the time in my life to draw/record again, I have some cool ideas but no time. It's lie or die.
Happy Holidays.
Doodle I never really finished of the Monad uniforms but I thought it was cute. Romeo is our precious little bean and needs to be protected at all costs.
Group photo be like:
Also THERE'S SNOW ON HIS HEAD. idk why this detail surprised me when I saw it but it did.
I can't open models yet because they keep crashing but some of the new portraits and decals omg! The confirmations..the details....I still want more but here's the ones I found the most interesting for now - Hiding the most important ones after break just in case.
New paintings found throughout-
The most important one for me - finally confirmation on Carlo/Romeo height difference.
Monad Charity house painting
The Family Portrait with a normal hair Sophia, Valentinus, Lea and Isabella
Younger Valentinus, Isabella and Antonia
The group photo with Carlo and Romeo in the middle
A photo of the servants which I'm pretty sure is the devs dressed up as an easter egg.
The other portraits
Edit: Almost forgot one of the most wholesome ones. Carlo reminds me of Finn Wolfhard ngl.
Lies of P Merch I made waiting for the official shop to come out Vol.3
A fully functional Monad's Lamp of Lies and an Adelina Corday statue
For scale
Warning light may be a bit bright
Monad's Lamp was recreated by me in Zbrush/Maya because the actual in-game model only uses a flat texture for all the detail...hard to 3D print that. In retrospect I should've smoothed out the top and cage a bit more, they're too blocky for me but it still came out nice.
I'll try it again with a resin printer at some point as well.
It is fully functional with a door that can open and close and a hook you can....hook it to stuff with. The bottom is also removable so I can put it on top of a dimmable IKEA lantern (not too long though) or put some colored LEDs in for effect.
Before Patina
After Patina
Adelina is just straight up the ingame model with gold spray paint. I did a few layers of rosegold inbetween and at the bottom so it's not as flat.
I voiced all of these during my playthrough but I wanna put them down anyways
Lies of P is a game of lies and I often feel like the game itself is trying to lie to us so......
Compiling Theories
Carlo and Romeo didn't die of Petrification disease
I honestly believe that something else killed both of them. The Petrification disease is just too much of a convenience and would've been used as a cover up.
Why else would the stalker be like
"Gemini, get rid of them."
"I'm so sorry....I was too late"
if it was only Carlo contracting the disease. The pose the body is in to me clearly conveys DEAD. And even if he caught the disease, Mr. Geppetto, the amazing Geppetto of the Workshop Union who sends his son to the MONAD CHARITY HOUSE - Valentinus Monad: Leader of the Alchemists - surely, SURELY he would've gotten a cure for his son/be able to afford it. Hell, Geppetto knew of his daughter, Sophia, and of Simon Manus. He had the connections. Giangio cures Antonia after all and she only dies because her organs were too damaged already so the disease was the thing keeping her alive. If caught early on, Carlo would have lived and given Romeo part of his cure seeing as it's implied that Geppetto didn't very much like Romeo - worded as "a grudge."
What this grudge is about - getting his son killed or something else....we don't know yet but hopefully will find out.
2. There's 2 Geminis
"Gemini, get rid of them." ...How? He's a cricket guide. Or is he?
I honestly think there's a cricket Gemini and a Stalker or puppet Gemini. Or it's one and the same and he's now "atoning" so to speak by helping PCarlo in his cricket form. It feels like Sophia knew Gemini from somewhere because she's like "I see they got Gemini too."
And since Sophia knew Carlo as a child from their time at Monad...
"Gemini get rid of them" may have been misinterpreted....and subsequently covered up since she was a famous, legendary stalker.
Also his name spelled Gemini, to avoid copyright they couldn't go with Jiminy but...they could have also used any other name since most names are based on the original story or versions thereof and the cricket is only ever the cricket. Sticking with Jiminy but spelling it like the astrological twins sign is too much of a coinkydink for me.
Gemini was there in the car, the car that Geppetto based his secret workshop in. Mhh..
3. If Camille acted on instinct saving a baby - something beyond her programming - then PuppetRomeo and P are 100% acting on muscle memory from their lives mixed with puppet strength/speed. Which means that Romeo and Carlo were actually pretty good stalkers-in-training. I talked about this in my Romeo appreciation post but I can totally see live Romeo doing fancy moves like that, like he's dancing, and Carlo just wanting to get things done quick and clean.
This lends to my theory that something other than a disease must've gotten to at least Carlo because he'd be more skilled than that.
(He took down all major puppets and a demigod thing by himself with the occasional Sophia rewind....no way in hell that's just programming, since P is awakening)
Then again we don't know how old exactly he was when he died.
But Geppetto made him a young adult puppet and the nameless puppet is clearly not a child (assuming it's Carlo's OG body yes?) so it's safe to think he could've handled himself in combat somewhat by that point. Something more powerful did him in and the game is lying to you and I stand by that until the series is finished and I'm either right or have to concede that it just do be like that and his origin story is just kind of "yeah he died. Nothing more than that. Let's get the plot going." But that feels very Un-Neowiz because this world and its characters are full of easter eggs and research and care that I don't think the devs would just handwave something as big as this.
4. Not so much a theory as a comment but imagine seeing the guy you had fun talks with, helped out, nerded out with, listened to music with all of a sudden just kills you and every one of your friends. The evil ending is so devastating and I feel the badest for our girl Eugenie she's so sweet. Eugenie and her country and origin will hopefully get more elaboration, maybe Carlo will sail beyond the seas of Krat.
Also that literally no one at the hotel seems to realize P is a puppet. Maybe Antonia since she knew Geppetto. But since you are required to lie and P is a special puppet who can lie....easy mistake to make.
Venigni would've realized Law 0 much sooner - that Geppetto can create exceptions.
Which also makes the Romeo fight even sadder - because P is exempt every other puppet must attack him...he can't help himself.
My bro better be revived with some ergo, we need more of him and I think the devs know by now how popular of a character he is...I think...I hope...(alongside the lords of drip - the BRBH)
5. There's not really a timeskip in the lore. Sophia was trapped for a few years...maybe? She knew Carlo and Romeo since they were children at Monad and she's maaaaybe in her late 20s? early 30s? That means that the time between Carlo's and Romeo's deaths can't have been more than a year or two from when the game started. The King of Puppets was created to cover up the true origin of the Frenzy - that's Romeo and he awakened way before Carlo - his model only looks shabby because he literally exploded into flames, not because it's decades old (if you look at the model textures they might look old and grainy but that's literally everything in this game - look at Ps sock textures).
They were created after Arlecchino - Covenant. Carlo's body proved unstable, volatile - making Geppetto spend more time on a new and improved version of a puppet which is why P looks so human and polished aside from the Legion Arm. I still commend Geppetto for giving his son freckles. He did this for us. Aside from that you'd probably recreate your child the way you knew them and the last G probably heard from his son was the Graduation which would be like 17/18. So he was probably just a little older - like early 20s.
6. Carlo's journey is that of a Heart, a Brain, and Courage.
Tying in with the Wizard of Oz, if Dorothy doesn't end up as our player character, I feel like Carlo received his Heart in the first game from Geppetto and Sophia. The second game will focus on recovering more of his memories and personality - the brain. The last game, because it 100% is a trilogy, will focus on the courage to do what's needed to save....Krat? The world? His friends? Who knows - from whatever org Paracelsus belongs to.
And then...we go home :)
This is probably why the game has stuck with me well after having played it multiple times. I love it when it gives you material to theorize with but also isn't so open ended that it's not satisfying, that the story is just whatever you want or gives you nothing to work with.
Maybe I should do some Link Click crossover doodles mhh.
Lots of corpses in Lies of P soooooo let's start off with something harmless -
What normal Krat citizens look like without all the bashed in heads and such
Spoilers:
The man from the very first set of trailers among others
Maids/Melody
Eugenie, Polendina, and Venigni from the cutscene
Sophia's cage lamp is in the shape of a little flower
Shoes. Sophia's little shoes are such hidden gems.
But also theory popped into my head:
P's key....
what if at the end of the series there's a door that unlocks using that key because the workshop union emblem has a keyhole I hadn't thought about much before. Like why is that key there?
In earlier versions P was intended to be more of a wind up puppet and had a hole in his back but now he's more of an automaton so why did they keep it in the design. Mhh. IRL the symbol sometimes has a G....now in this case it could be for Geppetto - so Carlo, his son, has the literal key to the heart of his work on his hip.
The union symbol also has a snake for the Alchemists but I'm not sure about the Eye of Ra for the third one, the third Brother?
Also
"Ra uses the eye as a weapon against humans who have rebelled against his authority. He sends the eye—Hathor, in her aggressive manifestation as the lioness goddess Sekhmet—to massacre them.
The eye is an extension of Ra’s power, equated with the sun’s disc, but also behaves as an independent entity"
P Puppet frenzy much?
Also why is Paracelsus just jacking our books? He stole Pinocchio and already has OZ and there's always some book in the trinity rooms....cryptic, hidden between the lines text senses activated.
More Lies of P stuff I thought was interesting that I found:
First off, Romeo sits pretty comfy inside his Gundam
Second, remember to not use Thermite Grenades on people ;)
Eugenie really likes cats, there's like 10 models of just cats that she whittles but also some cute dogs
I also never really noticed a pattern on her shirt, it's such a nice little detail, dead Eugenie also seems to wear a workshop union necklace but with the shape of a sun (I think).
Answer the phone promptly <3
A hat case with initials F.B.T, Lyrick Pub (perhaps a reference to Lyric Soho - a victorian pub), Round8Studio envteam sign,
all of the stops at the train station with times of departure and number....I wonder if there's hidden meaning to them. I was thinking dates but of what I don't know since Pinocchio was released Feb 1881
Ergo is my new life motto, I didn't translate it until now but
"I will find a way or make one" is pretty dope.
"He will find a way or make it"
U.S. Mailbox in a French coastal city. An interesting chair I don't think I've seen around.
Some ergo shenanigans I don't think I've seen.
We've seen the clown models of the parade around except some of them like the female unicycle one....let's go to the Land of Toys.
Ask to Wind - An unreleased Record....maybe in the DLC?
Lastly I hope we can see Krat before the revolution someday because a lot and I mean A LOT of the weapons and signs and uniforms have so many fish on them. The good old days.
Carlo and Romeo Doodle To Cure My Depression Vol.5....I think
I see your Timothee P ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵉˣᵗ ᵐᵃᵗᵗᵉʳˢ and raise you Mike Wheeler.
And of course best boi Romeo had to be best boi Dustin.
To hold me over until the official merch arrives, I made a BRBH shirt based on the wanted poster drawings. It's made with puffy vinyl so it's a bit fluffy and textured.
After playing The Quarry I wanted to make a set of Tarot cards and today they announced official WoW tarot cards coming in November which is great because I'm pretty sure I was never gonna finish the set lol. Have some rough sketches, I wanted to do them physically with watercolor and gold leaf but I'm really paranoid about mistakes and ruining the entire thing and having to start over so I ended up doing it digitally.
Happy Valentine's day my lovely citizens of Krat. I normally don't like to color my doodles but I grew really attached to it so have a Carmeo and Promeo version.
Also some doodles of Romeo and Sophia referencing Sunmi's Noir because I do feel like I don't draw enough Sophia. She's so sweet.
Someday is Romeo's record and it's driving me crazy. It feels like every character has a theme record of sorts
P/Carlo - Feel
Sophia - Shadow Flower
Claudia and Lucio - Quixotic
Adelina and Patricia - Fascination
Antonia and Polendina - Memory of Beach
Belle - Why
Venigni - Misty E'ra is something he'd chill out to
Eugenie - Far East Princess
The Real Alidoro - Proposal, Flower, Wolf
Simon - Divine Service because of his obsession
That leaves - Someday
I'm 100% convinced Someday is Romeo's record.
It's one of the few records with a male singer.
It's bought in the Malum district....at the Red Lobster Inn vendor.
You know what else is at the Red Lobster - RIGHT ACROSS FROM THAT SPECIFIC VENDOR - the portrait of Romeo and Carlo being like:
"I'm Romeo and I'll be the best Stalker in Krat!"
"Then I'll become better than Romeo and be the greatest Stalker in the world!"
It could've been sold by any vendor in the game....but it specifically was the Malum vendor. I feel like the devs are teasing. If you look at the lyrics:
I'm waiting for you alone in the dark
I've been waiting for you too long
I can hear you in my heart
A whisper of my own confession
Time to meet you now
Listen my Heart
Where are you now?
Can't you hear my little voice?
Would it be possible for me to whisper in your ear?
If you have a long day,
do you remember me suffering?
You will come back someday
Listen my Heart
I will wait for you even if my heart hurts
So you can hear my little voice
I will wait for you, I will wait for you.
That sounds an awful lot like Romeo to me. Sending P messengers, waiting for him, longing to meet him again and yet P can't seem to hear his voice - since they're all scrambled. And it's a song that sounds rather upbeat compared to some of the other ones even if the lyrics are kind of sad which I feel like is also such a Romeo thing with him being the more positive of the two from what we know.
I'm convinced Someday is Romeo's theme record. Thanks for reading my TED talk.
It's also a sleeper. One of my favs.
As I share my little doodles I'm still having discussions with my friend about
"How are you so obsessed with a nothing character......he doesn't say a word"
That's what makes P so great.
Some people like to speculate and make their own stories up about a character.
You can infer so much stuff about what Carlo was really like....what motivated him, his likes, dislikes, and the only concrete thing we know about him is that he wanted to be a Stalker.
To me, P is not really the main character of the game - it's Sophia, Romeo, Simon, Geppetto, Venigni....we're just looking at their stories through the lens of P.
Some people see him as just the players puppet with no real agency of his own - always being bossed around by Sophia or Geppetto, or all the sidequest givers, always nodding and not really expressing anything until the very end or asking "Does he even want to become human?"
Does he want to isn't a question imo. It's an inevitability.
If you want the canon ending, P is slowly becoming Carlo.
Whether he wants to or not....it just...happens - because of the way he is/was. Because his lies are white lies that protect people's feelings...because Carlo.
Sure, Sophia encourages him but he wouldn't do it if he didn't want to. Because Ergo. Because Camille, Melody, Arlecchino, Polendina, Pulcinella. The dialogue options to me in universe whenever his springs react it's like....doing things you would do as a person without realizing you did it but you did it because it's natural to you. Carlo is just being Carlo doing Carlo things (minus probably the killing rampage....might just be puppet instincts, then again all of his "victims" are puppets, criminals who wanna gut him first, the carcasses or the alchemists) while also carrying out a mission his father asked of him or this nice girl who woke him up. Not like he's got anything else going on rn. Almost like in a haze, you don't know why...but you're doing it, it gives you something concrete to hold on to in the moment, without a purpose you're kinda just lost. He was always a human trapped in a puppet body. Carlo was right in front of Geppetto, he didn't need the puppet frenzy, he needed time. Just spend time with your damn son.
Romeo...I love because he's just Romeo. He's the GOAT. I feel like he was the genki joker and Carlo was the edgelord. Gigachad of a friend. He was there for Carlo. He bled with Carlo. He tried to help P.
"He literally tries to kill you...."
Yea....to stop the puppet frenzy and save innocents, if he can't reach his best friend and reason with him that's just how it's gotta be.
He's probably my favorite character in the game and I desperately hope he comes back somehow (I also really love his voice....it reminds me a bit of Bakugo when he's not yelling, GJ). Who would've thought one boss battle would be the one I simultaneously hate and love the most? Carmeo is the best part of this game. I'm also a sucker for origin stories so I'd welcome a Carlo flashback.
Just a bunch of random interesting Lies of P stuff I've seen so far because I still love this game:
So the workshop was established 1868....which means that we're in the year 1889 or around that timeframe based on the grand exhibition signs.
Apparently Sophia has a diary? and this is the only page:
Master Cherry gives the Piece of wood to his friend Geppetto
At that very moment
a loud knock sounded on the door
It was Geppetto,
an old friend of Master Cherry.
The boys of the neighborhood
called him Polendina
because of the wig he always wore,
which was just the color of yellow corn.
He was known to dislike children,
and even more so when they called him
Polendina.
on some of the plaques at the grand exhibition
The Krat k for reference and the devs having fun sneaking pics onto bottles lol
The music sheet on the piano is the sheet music for the Oblivion soundtrack of the game.
I also wonder why P chooses to play that particular piece that he plays as his humanity increases, why is it stuck in your head P?....on to another Carmeo doodle!
I mean seriously the first few notes of the Estella Opera theme sound like humanity level 1 P trying the piano....like there's this specific tune in his mind. Like the two used to play together or Carlo the bougie being good at playing would teach Romeo, the kid from the streets.
And the whole level P would hear that tune ....operafied and extra because it's Romeo, cmon, but also as a reminder like -Hey...remember, buddy?
Just for reference purposes, when exported directly, Romeo is a giant at almost 9 ft - while P is about 6'4" when not constantly in battle stance. But Sophia and every other NPC in Krat is also about 6 feet when directly exported so the characters aren't made to scale - youngest of the BRBH is as tall as Sophia without ears. I read somewhere that Carlo is supposed to be around 5'3" on average and 5'6" at the tallest (people being shorter back then etc....our short king) so in my headcanon for my doodles reference I scaled Romeo to be about 5'10", just a bit taller than Carlo. Idk why I make him taller but there's something about his nickname Lampwick which just meant that he's skinny and polished looking in the original context but it got in my head that he's just tall and skinny and I'm rolling with it. Funny that his puppet form is so rusted and kinda clunky and raggedy looking for someone so well put together presumably before he died. The most unruly of Pinocchio's friends but also the nicest guy in this universe--- don't get me started on Romeo again gigachad of a friend///
Also something you can't really see ingame cuz resolution but irl all records are by Trilogy Records and Feel in particular is "Song of Vamp, Rosa Milan" ....no clue what it means.
the placeholder used for Romeo's play in the trailers....but also Hotel Krat before it became a Hotel in a bustling city?
Question:
Blue hair Sophia or Brown hair?
Short hair P or long hair P? (I like short hair because it's an iconic look and the devs clearly spent a lot of time fine tuning it when you look at the trailers lol, long hair to me just feels so....basic)
Also P's hair is aktschually brown.....it just looks really dark ingame and in all the artwork they just chose to make it black-looking.
So Carlo and P technically have the same hair, he just doesn't have P's freckles which....a choice was made by Geppetto and I respect it.
You can read this oddly specific daffodil newspaper texture and this letter.....like why is this so high res??
It's a shame you can't see some of this stuff unless you actually take a close look at the game files but I like to snoop. I just wanna see more of Krat...like a tour video or something or a book before it all kinda went to hell.
Thanks Geppetto ....and/or Simon.
STOP. blowing my damn mind Neowiz it's already blown. There's nothing left. The amount of research and easter eggs in this game, my good lord.
Romeo's intro theme literally being a variation of a piece called "Music(Waltz) of the Dolls"
The only reason this came to me is because I started watching Midnight Club and the song came on and I was like....wait that...that's Romeo's intro!
AND all of this....the staging of it...
The research is too good I can't love this game any more than I do.
Get out.
That sequel can't come soon enough.
