She didn’t usually feel like this.
She didn’t usually feel so lost and lonely– or rather, Sana never usually let herself feel like this. There weren’t enough hours in the day, weren’t enough days in a year, to feel so bad about herself and her life. There were others who were less fortunate than she was, who lead harder lives and while she realised it was absolutely okay to feel bad about her own situation, she tried not to be. Her philosophy was if she could make someone’s day just through her attitude and a bright smile, then she was happy.
But you can’t please everyone.

He should have kept walking.
Flower Girl’s sadness took him by surprise. She usually seemed so bright and bright that seeing the tears on the cheeks was shock. Daichi didn’t know her. Nonetheless she had become a part of his daily routine, not that he would say that aloud. He wasn't socially inept, he just found books and music more interesting than t.v shows or movies. Growing up in the country with his dad before moving to the city made him even more shy.
What in the world made him think he could handle a crying woman? Flower girl looked truly sad and it was upsetting. It was clear she had been startled by his sudden appearance. Looking around he tried to relax and sighed before passing her a tissue from his bag. “It’s clean- don’t worry.” Watching her with weariness he tried to come up with something else to say. “Miss Haruno asked about you today.” He began looking everywhere but at her. “She said something about some hydrangeas or something like that. I told her to call you aunt, don’t know if she got around to it.”
With his hands in his pockets, he finally met her eyes and smiled- or tried to. “Would you like me to walk you back? I mean cause it’s dark and you know perverts or worse could be lurking.” He spoke quickly hoping his awkwardness wouldn't come off as creepy and just cute or something close to it. “Also my grandfather would kill me if he finds out I let you go back alone.”
Daichi had always been comfortable around books and didn’t really feel comfortable around people. Still seeing the girl looking so broken and sad was bothering him. Flower girl always went out of her way to be nice to him despite his cold personality and he felt like repaying some of that kindness. With hesitation he extended his hands towards her hoping she would accept the friendly gesture. “I don’t know if your aunt or my grandfather told you but I’m Daichi. Daichi Hino.” He left his hand extended towards her to help her up.
His personality might have been icy but his parents raised him a gentleman. Truth be told, he hoped she wouldn't think he was weird or uptight. Months of seeing Flower Girl and not once had he cared about what she thought but for some reason seeing her cry changed that. Daichi couldn't help but think that perhaps she needed a friend- not he could change instantly. Still he could try to be less cold tonight, for her.
