“Ah, the final round~! Oh you’ve done so well so far, I’m surprised almost,” ATC called out. “Though it’s a shame it has to end this way! I was have oh, so much fun… oh well!”
The robot stood proudly upon their stage of destruction. The finale. The last round. You are the only survivor left, but at what cost?
The moon had fallen back to her imprisonment, the sun had been distinguished, the machine had been tormented beyond their understanding, The Grims had been torn apart to be used as an example of ATC’s twisted ways… so what’s the point?
“If you still want to win, you’ll have to complete one last trial,” His voice rang out, distracting you from your thoughts. “A simple challenge against me. I can promise that you will be able to handle it, and it’s completely fair.”
Before you could even ask what that meant, it continued.
“A gun fight! My favorite…”
A gun fight? That shouldn’t be too difficult, it’s about timing and reaction speed… but ATC has a gun for an arm, and has proven they have practice and will limit people’s abilities…
There was a sudden weight in your hand, looking down you have a classic styled pistol.
“I gave you multiple bullets, infinite actually. Just to even the playing field, and just in case you want to get the job done yourself too. Make my job easier,” The robot grinned a bit too wide. They knew they were going to win. They always do. “Now, on the count of 10, we will both shoot. You will walk to your side of the stage with your back turned just like so—“ he turned around and started to move away, continuing a rant that lie on deaf ears as you see a chance.
He wasn’t watching.
Will he realize if you aim early?
But now’s the chance, so why not take it?
You’re going to die regardless…
“…Oh this is going to be so fun!…”
The click of the loaded gun was loud, but not loud enough.
“…Now on the count of 10…”
The gun is raised, aimed square on his neck.
Before he could get even another word out, your gun was fired. The crack of the bullet being released was loud, but it was easier to ignore after the third fired. Or was it more? It was hard to tell, it felt like a daze.
There was a silence as you shakily lowered your gun to see what happened.
There the robot stood, still standing. A few holes left where the bullets managed to make their way through.
Not as bullet proof as it seemed you suppose.
ATC stood up a little straighter, but the shiver coursing through him was obvious.
Robots can’t feel pain, so at least that guilt can’t sit on your mind.
“…Well,” He said, turning around in a quick motion that seemed a little less smooth than usual. “It seems that you’re more tricky than I thought. More impatient—…”
ATC puts a hand to one of the holes at his throat, flinching as his wired fingers graze it. The bullets seemed to have pierced through his face, neck, and chest. All of the wounds seemed to be leaking and dripping with a dark, blood-like substance.
It was a bit of a surprise. To see the almighty machine at a state like this. Damaged and bloody.
“—But you… you haven’t won yet.” He took a shaky step forward, grin back in place. “I won’t die that easy. You can’t kill me. Not before I finish my plans.”
You try to step back some, but he didn’t stop his slow march towards you.
“Do you think this will help? Getting rid of me? Hah! Oh, you humans amuse me so… you forget that I run all of this. I’m the one pulling the strings. You all are just puppets at my Final Show!”
He eventually grabbed onto your shoulder, but it was hard to tell if they needed it for support for standing, or to try to seem more intimidating.
“…You.. will fall before me. Before all I’ve done and worked for…”
