My thoughts on 'Islam is Isis'
On September 21, Angelina Jolie posted an anecdote in Facebook. Stating, there was once an Isis member who stopped a Christian car. “Are you Muslim?” he asks, the Christian man answered “Yes, I’m Muslim”. “If you are a Muslim, then recite a verse of Quran.”, so the Christian man recited a verse from the Bible. But the ISIS member says “Ok, go”. Later his wife tells him, “I cannot believe the risk you just took. Why did you tell him that we are Muslims? If he knew you were lying he would have killed both of us”. “Do not worry! If they knew the Qur’an they would not kill people” answered the Husband. See, ISIS is not Islam, terrorism has no religion. Good afternoon everyone, teachers, classmates, and every single ignorant racists in this world. Lately a few headlines caught my attention social discrimination, racism, muslim jokes, Islamic stereotyping, and the fear of them in general. Are you guys familiar with the ‘Jalal’ pranks? Where a Guy dresses in a Thobe, and drops something– anything really from a bag to a Lamb and people run for their lives, thinking that it is a bomb inside. In Arabic, Jalal is a name of a masculine Islam that means Brilliance, greatness and superiority, and for these ignorants to use this name to make such cruel jokes, that’s sick. It’s shocking and heart breaking how ignorant these people are to the beauty of this religion.
So let me start with, what is Isis? Isis is the acronym for Islamic state of Iraq and the Levant or Syria. It is a Terrorist group of extremist who translates and twists the words of the Qur’an in its most cruel and brutal way. They promote ‘religious’ violence and regards Muslims who do not agree to with their interpretations as infidels or apostates. They bring rage, discomfort, violence and cruelty in the countries they power Iraq and Syria, causing 450,000 deaths and 50,000 of these are children, in Syria alone. But fun fact Muslims are the victims of between 82- 97% of all these terrorist attack. In Qur’an chapter 5 verse 32, it states “If anyone kills an innocent person, it would be as if he has killed the whole mankind.” If a religion promotes their religion don’t you think it’s futile to kill your own men? If people like me, who’s a Christian that lives far away from Syria, unaffected, safe and free from social discrimination; feels this deep hatred towards them, then don’t you think that people who are in fact their exposed to it all feel much, much more disgusted to Isis more than we do. No one hates ISIS more than Islam itself.
So next time if you see a Muslim never fear. They won’t bite or kill you, in first glance. They are humans too, if people would start assuming that they are murders just because a certain group claims to be them then I don’t think they are to be blamed by the actions of others. They don’t deserve this kind of injustice treatment. Yet again, Islam is not Isis, TERRORISM HAS NO RELIGION, and if you can’t accept that then that’s your lost. There is nothing we can do; everyone holds the freedom to have their own opinion. But “Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear” Surah Baqara, Verse 286. In sending them hate your just making them stronger. Let me end this speech with a quote from Gordon England, “This is a war against Terrorists. Not a war against a religion, but a war against Terrorists.
