I love marching band

I truly love marching band. I love how it gives new freshmen a home before the first day of school. I love the look of power and determination while everyone is at set. I love feeling and seeing the joy once you do a runthrough and you are in the exact right spot for drill and everything is dressed perfectly. I love hearing the band light up when that one fun part comes on in a pep tune. I love how band kids will sit around playing pep tunes or old show music and everyone joins in. I love how it becomes a family and how the band room can become one of the best homes you can have if you let it. I love being a band kid.

There isn’t a parallel fifth, but there is a direct fifth in the tenor.

I agree with ferencliszt – it’s okay, but not good. There’s nothing that a teacher (or TA) would take points off for unless they were very strict. On the other hand, the extensive similar motion is less than ideal. The simplest fix would be to have the bass go up to G rather than down (doubling the tenors for that one note), creating contrary motion with the upper parts.

That said, what would amuse me more would be to make the second chord a V4/2 which would, of course, resolve (with the alto ending on C) to a I6, which would visually pun on the “16″ of “2016″ so it appeared to be an analysis of the final chord.
