Unica ZĂŒrn (German-French, 1916 - 1970)
Circus, 1956Â
About Zirkus
Ulrica ZĂŒrn joined the Surrealist circle around her new partner, Hans Bellmer, in the early 1950s. She, Yves Tanguy and Max Ernst were the Surrealists who explored the world of the subconscious on the borderline between abstraction and figuration. One major source of inspiration was African art, to which she had been exposed at an early age through the collection of exotic objects put together by her father, a German cavalry officer who was stationed in Africa.
"Kou kou" is a visual work based on an abstract animation synchronized with a song comprising the unique syllabic sounds of the Japanese language, without actually using any full words.
Miguel Chevalier (France)
Magic carpets 2014 by french artist Miguel Chevalier is an interactive light display spread out across the floor of the former sacrĂ© coeur church in Casablanca, Morocco. Covering it with a huge layer of light, the work references the world of biology, microorganisms, and cellular automata â as cells have the ability to multiply in abundance, divide and merge at different paces. Pieces come together, fall apart and transform in shape at rapid speeds. the displayed organic universe mingles with a digital construction of overlapping pixels.

Help Supersonic Save Sharks With PangeaSeed!
Today is the last day youâll have a chance to help save ocean habitats and wildlife for PangeaSeed and 1xRunâs âSea Wall Expeditions: Murals for Oceans.â Â
The project will see thirteen of the worldâs best artists travel to Isla Mujeres, Mexico where they will swim with and observe endangered Manta Rays and Whale Sharks. Â Afterwards theyâll be filling the town with beautiful murals to help educate and raise awareness of these beautiful creatures and the fragile ecosystem that holds them.
This is your last chance to help make this happen and there are many great rewards for you if you help out. Â Including an incredibly limited edition print for anyone donating one hundred dollars or more who mentions Supersonic. Â Donating ends tonight, Monday May 19th at 11:59pm PST.
