Shootout at the OK-OK Corral, Plains, Texas

Cue the cattle. Only the most photogenic, each in a particular position and posture to match a precise comp. Each expression distinct and endearing. Move slowly and whisper, so they don’t stampede. Shoot each from identical camera positions, so they all fall into place in post. No problem. We brought cow candy.   

Heroes in the RAW

The agency, client, and crew were troopers—soldiering through a 50 mph dust storm, harsh Texas sun, camera-shy cattle, and steers who finally decided we weren’t welcome in their pens. We made a new best friend, Jeff, the homely steer, who fell in love with Assistant Spencer’s ear rubs.

Hats off to the client Zoetis, the world’s largest veterinary pharmaceutical company, for letting us whisper to the cattle. Kudos to the creative team at #BaderRutter and our creative director Jaclyn who worked long hours with amazing retoucher @WolfandCardinal to get each hero cow precisely positioned and placed, and the supporting cast convincing in every detail. A big thanks to @Workbook reps Mary Preussel, Linda Levy and the Shortlist program for the referral. And thanks to our producer Martha, who rounded up the herd, all of us. I had a great time.
