@anarcocaine
Get a rat and put it in a cage and give it two water bottles. One is just water, and one is water laced with either heroin or cocaine. If you do that, the rat will almost always prefer the drugged water and almost always kill itself very quickly, right, within a couple of weeks. So there you go. Itâs our theory of addiction. Bruce comes along in the â70s and said, âWell, hang on a minute. Weâre putting the rat in an empty cage. Itâs got nothing to do. Letâs try this a little bit differently.â So Bruce built Rat Park, and Rat Park is like heaven for rats. Everything your rat about town could want, itâs got in Rat Park. Itâs got lovely food. Itâs got sex. Itâs got loads of other rats to be friends with. Itâs got loads of colored balls. Everything your rat could want. And theyâve got both the water bottles. Theyâve got the drugged water and the normal water. But hereâs the fascinating thing. In Rat Park, they donât like the drugged water. They hardly use any of it. None of them ever overdose. None of them ever use in a way that looks like compulsion or addiction. Thereâs a really interesting human example Iâll tell you about in a minute, but what Bruce says is that shows that both the right-wing and left-wing theories of addiction are wrong. So the right-wing theory is itâs a moral failing, youâre a hedonist, you party too hard. The left-wing theory is it takes you over, your brain is hijacked. Bruce says itâs not your morality, itâs not your brain; itâs your cage. Addiction is largely an adaptation to your environment. Weâve created a society where significant numbers of our fellow citizens cannot bear to be present in their lives without being drugged, right? Weâve created a hyper-consumerist, hyper-individualist, isolated world that is, for a lot of people, much more like that first cage than it is like the bonded, connected cages that we need. The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. The opposite of addiction is connection. And our whole society, the engine of our society, is geared towards making us connect with things. If you are not a good consumer capitalist citizen, if youâre spending your time bonding with the people around you and not buying stuffâin fact, we are trained from a very young age to focus our hopes and our dreams and our ambitions on things we can buy and consume. And drug addiction is really a subset of that.
Johann Hari, Does Capitalism Drive Drug Addiction? (via coketalk) anarcocaine (via theworstblogdotgeocities)
I've read this countless times, and I've always advocated that understanding of addiction. It never loses its importance, considering how I see people talk about that kind of problem.
âToday, a massive gunfight between rival biker gangs in Waco, Texas leftat least 9 people dead and 18 injured. âIn 34 years of law enforcement, this is the worst crime scene, the most violent crime scene I have ever been involved in,â Waco Police Sargent Patrick Swanton said.
The police have not named the gangs involved, but images taken after the massacre appear to show members of the Bandidos and the Cossacks, among other gangs, who have a history of violent confrontations in the area. The gang members reportedly opened fire on the police when they arrived at the scene.
Many of the individuals involved appear to be white, including some with white supremacist tattoos and patches. One image, in particular, is raising question about whether the suspects would be treated differently if they were minorities:
Several commentators have noted that itâs a remarkably casual treatment of individuals who could be potential suspects for mass murder. No one is handcuffed and several people appear to have access to their cell phones.
Itâs not known if any of the individuals in the photo played a direct role in the violence.
The image, of course, does not depict the full extent of the police response. The Los Angeles Times reported that, out of 150-200 bikers on the scene, âsheriffâs deputies were holding about 20 people wearing leather motorcycle vests â with their boots removed and in flex cuffs â in the parking lot.â
Many drew comparisons to Baltimore where police deployed tear gas against protesters and the National Gaurd was deployed. Although looting and vandalism occured, no one was killed during the Freddie Gray protests.â - ThinkProgress

Media and Representation 101 also in general white privilege and racism 101
Look at how the media portrays this incident. It is labeled as a âbrawlâ and or âshootoutâ. There is little to no condemnation given by the media over this incident. They are not attacking either the character or morality of the individual gang members involved in the crime rather, they are merely reporting what it happening, no opinions involved.Â
In addition as for the actual treatment of those involved in the incident it is clear that it is being resolved in not a very aggressive manner.Â

can u believe that some people actually have different music tastes then you?

Not providing evidence for your claims discredits an argument because there is nothing to prove that your claim is true. You cannot expect other people to find evidence for your argument. It is your argument therefore you are responsible for proving that is true by backing up claims with evidence. If u dont it lets people completely disregard it because it has no validity. In addition, your claims have no truth value. People r not just going to assume your argument is true, you have to prove it
I'm not making an argument. I'm making a statement. My statement is "fuck off and read something informative without bothering me."
The consequence of no property rights is that no one owns anything. Meaning there is no reason to even have an orange, clothes, or kid bc since you do not own it someone else can take it. & what was stolen will be stolen again. No one has right to it
You obviously donât understand the concept of property in contrast to the concept of possessions. You can easily solve that with the help of Google.

I googled property⊠here are two sources which define the word property⊠property and possession are synonymsâŠ. I think it is you who needs to better understand the concepts of those words,
I also think that âgoogle somethingâ is not a very intelligent argument considering they can google something and find 2 very different perspectives on property vs possessionâŠ.
I think that the fact that you think itâs my responsibility to give you information that you could just as easily go get on your own (by that I mean without wasting my time) is pretty unintelligent. In addition, youâre not putting things in context. In a philosophical context, dictionary definitions are of limited use.
It is most definitely your responsibility, you are engaged in an argument so you should give an intelligent response. You discredit your argument by saying âlook it upâ because YOU do not provide the information.
I engaged in telling you to fuck off and learn for yourself, and I kindly left you with a clue on how to do it.
Anarcho-Capitalism is literally an oxymoron.
You fucking assholes. Anarchism is a word which literally means âlack of hierarchy.â Capitalism is a word which means âhierarchy defined by property.â In anarchism, there is no property. Property is an instrument of oppression. Property is power. Power isnât anarchist. In anarchism, it is right to acknowledge that the only power it is right for you to exercise is power over yourself. You may exert no power or coercive influence over others. If one is to own property (as opposed to possessions, which are personal, and directly useful to the individual without depriving others of basic human needs), one is not an anarchist, but a thief. If anarcho-capitalism was a thing, it would be called regular fucking capitalism. Thatâs right. Capitalism basically has no rules, and is abusive toward everyone. Just in case you were wondering.
âCapitalism is a word which means âhierarchy defined by property.â
Thereâs absolutely no precedent for this definition applying to capitalism outside of various anti-capitalist theology.
The word capitalism is derived from the word capital, which is itself derived from an late Latin word Capitale, which was a derivative of the Latin word for head, caput. Of the various uses and adaptations of capital and capitalism across the globe, âhierarchy defined by propertyâ off the top of my head Iâd say itâs maybe suggested by Marx in Das Kapital, but given that Iâve never read Das Kapital cover to cover, I donât know for sure. (Nor do I plan to read it cover to cover, because in my opinion itâs trash.)
In âAnarchyâ, you donât get to tell other people how to live their lives, a point ancoms continuously seem to miss. If a group of anarchists want to establish a community based on trade and currency, they have the right to do that. You donât get to tell them itâs ânot allowed in anarchyâ, because thatâs not how anarchy works.
Anarcho-communists and anti-capitalist anarchists, in general, spend waaaaaaay too much god damn time trying to privately own the word Anarchy and keep it exclusive, which is pretty ironic for a group of people who insinuate that private ownership and exclusivity is âproblematic and creates hierarchies.â
Anarchy does not mean âlack of hierarchyâ, it means an âabsence of governmentâ aka, âno rulersâ. Rulers, and by extension hierarchies, are completely dependent on the existance of pre-existing power structures, from which theyâre able to gain a foothold and establish dominance through using said power structures to coerce others into doing what they want. This is not to be confused with voluntary trade, including voluntarily exchanging your labor/services/products for agreed upon compensation. The hierarchies you see in capitalist countries could not exist without the state to provide a platform from which to base themselves. The massive corporations you so adamantly rally against are a direct result of said state-backed power structures, the same state so many anti capitalists beg to come save them from âthe 1%â, or whatever tired out rhetoric theyâre using for people who have money they want. Rhetoric that is about as tired out as the notion that capitalism is bad because the global economy is finite and ârich people prevent others from getting moneyâ.
In an anarchist society, people would be free to participate in whatever economic systems they see fit, so long as they can do so voluntarily and without coercion- coercion that is not an âinherentâ part of capitalism anymore than hierarchies. And for all of the shit talking about the oppressive nature of capitalism, and for all the shit you and your kin give anarcho-capitalists, I canât think of a single ancap Iâm personally familiar with who wouldnât adopt a âlive and let live mindsetâ, should another group of anarchists choose to form a community around collectivism and communist principles, so long as said community is voluntary.
Moreover, if capitalism âhas no rulesâ, but communism does, then by your own logic capitalism would be more compatible with Anarchy because it doesnât impose rigid restrictions on how people are allowed to exchange goods and services. And, as it turns out, humanity actually thrives in conditions where advancement and work are rewarded with incentive, as a opposed to making âsacrifices from his abilityâ to appeal to some emotionally dependent concept of a âgreater good.â
I donât know what kind of point you were expecting to get across with this post, because the only thing youâve defectively managed to demonstrate is that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of both capitalism and anarchy.
As such, âgit gudâ.
Oh look. An MRA agrees with Laissez-Faire capitalism. Who woulda thunk? But honestly, capitalism is shit and anarchism has been anticapitalist since its dawn. Saying anarcho-capitalism is actually derived from anarchism in any way is comparable to saying Pierce the Veil is a hardcore punk band. Understand? I know you ancap guys think this is a genius response to my post, but itâs because youâre omitting the entire discussion (which is quite a capitalist thing of you to do), and because you also havenât studied any of the history of anarchism as a movement (which is fundamental to understanding what anything is and how it came to be). Also, fuck you. Youâre an MRA. If youâre playing power games like that, you obviously donât believe in any form of egalitarianism, and you should quit playing anarchy. Iâm disappointed that youâre wasting your potential on âmenâs rightsâ and supporting ancaps when you could probably be doing something. I mean, Iâm giving you the benefit of the doubt here.
The response to the response is pretty unintelligent. You do not provide any evidence to prove your claim âcapitalism is shitâ but if you define capitalism properly which the responder does you would follow his premises and reach the same conclusion that anarchist no matter if they are ancap or ancom should both not be in favor of imposing oneâs will on another. In free market capitalism, if a group wanted to voluntarily form and become a commune with communal property etc, then they would be allowed to do so as long as they do not initiate force against anyone. You do not provide evidence for your claim that omitting evidence is somehow capitalistâŠ. You do not provide any evidence to support that the anarchist movement is anti capitalistâŠ. You assume we havent studied the anarchist movement because we do not agree with you but you would not know if everyone hasnt studied or atleast u dont cite evidence to support that claim either. Overall i find the response to the response very passive aggressive and it makes no valid argument at allâŠ
Iâm not your goddamn teacher, and itâs not my responsibility to find information for you, especially when itâs readily available (you obviously have internet access). Iâve even gone over all of this in response to pro-capitalist responses to this goddamn post. So yeah, Iâm not repeating myself just because you donât care to look. And by the way, laissez-faire capitalism already has a name.
Youre right you are not a teacher but if you want people to take you and your arguments seriously then you should provide intelligent responses with cited evidence for claims. If you just provide claims but no evidence to support them how is that a good argument at all? How can you expect anyone to take you or your argument seriously if all you are doing is making claims and being passive aggressive? Claims arent a good argument you need evidence to support them. Passive aggression isnt an argument altogether. You cannot just expect people to know what you are saying is true or know what you are talking about at all.
How about this: Educate yourself on the subject matter before engaging. Again, youâve even failed to look at my responses to other laissez-faire dweebs making the same claims on the very same goddamn post youâre reblogging. Iâm not trying to win a debate that Iâve already won about 60 times. Iâm telling you to fuck off, because youâre making points Iâve already refuted (not that any capitalist in the world has ever considered that theyâre not the first person to make those points to me), and youâre also an MRA, which means youâre a miserable piece of shit. Also, I already noted that you didnât really make any effort to educate yourself when I told you to look it up. Itâs your responsibility to know what youâre talking about, and you didnât from the moment you interacted with me, and Iâm not going to compose the same fucking points over and over to every suburban âancapâ dickweed with a Zippo lighter that has that little âanarchy Aâ on it who comes along.

This person thinks you can own a human being like what the fuck is wrong with capitalists? What makes you think people own children like what kind of sick dystopia do we live in?????
Why would anyone feel the need to steal anything when they have what they need? If people have access to food and clothing, why would they steal anything? Does this person not understand why petty theft happens in the first place?
????????????
I can't believe I overlooked that. Actually I can, because I don't give a fraction of a flying fuck what capitalists say, but that's still pretty telling of someone's beliefs when they consider children property.

There is no part of this diatribe that is not amazing or 100% true.
I never understood the whole wanting to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers until I was one. They had me working 39.5 hours a week so they didnât have to give me benefits and it was one of the most tiring jobs I have ever had. Not to mention that they under-scheduled so nights I was supposed to be out at 11:00, I didnât leave until 1:30 in the morning. Put going to school full-time on top of that and it was a year-long mental break down. I canât even imagine how some of the women I worked with handled that job, plus one more, and raising a family on their own. Fuck anyone who shits on people with minimum wage jobs.
