Sometimes you get this lucky in life
ruth bader ginsburg lived 87 fucking long years, helped secure abortion rights, marriage equality, and immigration rights among loads of other things.
remember her legacy as both a supreme court justice, as an advocate and icon in equality movements, and as the woman who wouldn’t take no shit from donald trump, sticking through multiple battles with cancer to preserve our rights.
may her memory be a blessing. honor her legacy.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg

"I would like to be remembered as someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability."
This goes beyond a sickening abuse of American taxpayers.
He is using the United States Department of Justice to defend him in this way.
It is a delaying gambit, that ultimately cannot – or should not – work to defend him, but will work to cause delay. But we are well past “should.”
The federal court might, or might not, punish him for this perversion and abuse of our justice system. But perhaps the court will be one of trump’s courts. Or perhaps the court will order him to personally cover all of his victim’s legal costs – which he then may not pay, as another fight. Perhaps the current United States Attorney General will lose his law license, disbarred but refusing to step down as the Attorney General.
But again, this goes beyond trump’s and Barr’s heinous abuse of the law, and of our civilizing legal systems.
He is using the United States Department of Justice to defend him in this way, and he has constructed a United States Department of Justice that will do it.
Do not stop thinking about this.
It is a world altering crisis. It is a new and immediate threat to the world. We must stop it.
He is not just defending rape. He is legitimizing rape while holding our judicial system in contempt. Other countries are guided by our judicial system. He is legitimizing contempt.
He is weaponizing our judicial system to his own ends. He personally turns justice upside down, wrecking the very concept of it even as he campaigns on “law and order”.
The outcome of this legal foray isn’t the greatest peril. Now is the peril. He and his people are the peril.
