Ridley Road Records (RRR) is a community focused record production platform aiming to document, interpret and archive the narrative of Dalston. This will be carried out through a series of interventions and workshops culminating in the creation of bespoke compact discs. The project will be based in Doomed Gallery, 65 Ridley Rd, London E8 2NP, from Monday 23 May - Saturday 28 May. Throughout the project RRR will collect a mixture of field and studio based recordings. A sound booth will be constructed within the gallery space, using materials sourced from the surrounding Dalston area. Members of the community will be invited to contribute to the audio-visual process, by recording a mixture of speech and sounds in the booth. The collected material will be used to produce one CD a day, covering themes such as ‘Routines’, ‘Interactions’ and ‘Perspectives’. Artwork for and in response to the CDs will also be created throughout the week, working from a publishing platform established within the gallery. The project will also play host to a series of events, including a karaoke evening on Thursday 26 May, and an ending party on Saturday 28 May.
