Matori & Kyoken: Men in the Back Alleys ćććŖćØēē¬ āč·Æå°č£ć®ē·éā (2026) - Whump List
Also known as: Matori to Kyoken, Matori and Kyoken
Genres: Action, Police Investigation, Drugs
Whumpees: Kurosaki Toru / Umezawa Kyonosuke
Synopsis: A drug-related murder in Roppongi causes the dealer who provided the drugs, Umezawa Kyonosuke, a former popular child actor, to be caught by Kurosaki Toru, a narcotics agent with an abnormally obsessive fixation on drugs. Kyonosuke, forced to become an informant, is soon arrested by a police officer, Katsuragi Akito, who orders him to be an informant for the police instead. Kyonosuke is driven into a hellish position as a "double spy", while he is threatened by the members of the drug cartel he works for.
Notes: I'm not 100% convinced by the story but it was a fun and short whumpy little drama (just as I was complaining about not finding any lol, should have shut my mouth). There's a lot of wall-pinning and size difference (to the point I wonder if itās not just fojushi-baiting the entire time), and an easy-to-understand plot. To watch when you want to keep your brain inactive but get your fix of whump :')
NB: Timestamps might be off (< 1mn) depending on where you watch the show. I do not disclose any character death on purpose. The characters are listed by chronological order of whump in each episode.
WARNING: This drama contains drug use, suicide and se*ual assault depiction.

Preforming CPR is absolutely exhausting. Physically exhausting.
And this wouldnāt take into account the mental exhaustion of preforming it on a person you love who just saved your life.
Neither would it take into account being tossed to the ground, choked out, and having your throat kneed upon.
Or the subsequent possession intended to have you drown (ideally you and your love).
So, lowkey, Jet crashed after that. Adrenaline might have kept him going long enough to make sure Charn was fully conscious and aware ā maybe even long enough to get to the car again ā but if this was reality (or my fanfic loving soul) Jet crashed hard.
Plus, the probably damaged done to his throat ā the likely swelling. Yeah that boy going to be down for the count.
ABSOLUTELY YES. And another headcanon I have is how when they gave him what was needed to be Khemās decoy, when he was fully immersed as Khem, he began to feel followed, hear voices in his head, have that haunting feeling just like Khem.
Thatās why in the car, he seems so uneasy, nervous and scared. He hears her chanting in his mind, that sheās coming for him.
So all that mental and psychological pain of taking the role of another person, then getting injured by people with otherworldly strength, having his spirit be targeted, getting possessed, falling off a bridge and drowning? THEN having to do CPR on someone you think is dead after having painful memories rushing back?
Charn and Jet were plunged, literally, into such a heartbreaking moment. Can you imagine the utter devastation that Jet felt after waking up, still reeling from Jin's pain? Going from such an agonizing memory to this horrible reality? Losing the love of his life all over again?
Charnās first words: āJet⦠Forgive me for making you worry.ā
After everything thatās happened, everything heās been through, Charnās concern is that he made Jet worry. That was literally the first thought on his mind after being saved from death. Jet is his world, someone so unbelievably precious to him.
I havenāt fully processed this episode. It was an emotional rollercoaster and Iām speechless. But this specific part, itās sticking to me.
This little tiny moment is so meaningful. Charnās hand is there to support him and offer him some comfort, even if this is all he can do for now. He does this right after Jet talks about having no friends, because Charn knows the deep bond he had with Thong and Ake, he heard it directly from Jet when he trusted him enough to share his emotions. He is sharing the vulnerable parts of himself that he doesnāt tell anyone else.
Charn is slowly testing how much Jet is willing to let him in, to allow himself to be loved. If anyone can do it, it will be Charn.
āIāve never had a friend in my life, but helping someone, protecting them, and knowing they can count on me⦠it makes me feel so appreciated.ā
Notice how both times, itās Jet that has both arms around them. He truly is the protector, the one who puts himself last and doesnāt prioritize his own life. His happiness and well-being always comes second, and his self-worth is directly linked to how he cares for others.
He is selfless and determined, and has the innate instinct to have others depend on him. It gives him purpose.
āNo matter what happens, youāll still have me by your side.ā
Iām going to live in this scene for a whole week. Suddenly Jet has someone by his side with the same stubbornness as him. Someone who is willing to throw himself in harmās way just to keep him safe and alive. Charn did it in the past when he barely knew Jetās name and heāll continue to do it again and again. All while respecting Jetās space and comfort. Oh Charn the green flag you are.
No one understands Jet more than Khem. Jet is someone who never shows weakness, whose steadfast presence is always at Khemās side through thick and thin. When Khem inched closer to him, it was to give Jet what he always gives to others: comfort.

When getting to Khem seems impossible, tactics change, and people fall.
'It was Charn who had remained beside Jet. Every so often, heād run his hands down to check the pulse, which continued to beat strongly in Jetās wrist. A constant reminder that there was still light in the newfound darkness. Heād shift the ice around, carefully checking to make sure that the condensation hadnāt dampened Jetās shirt each time. Heād run the back of his hand every so lightly up against Jetās neck and cheeks, which had regained much of their color, as if checking for fever.'

'Jet had intended to ignore the assholes. He had intended on walking back over to where Charn was currently painting, intended on saying something oddly threatening while asking if heād remembered anything about the previous night, and intended on then drinking a crap ton of water and heading back to his masterās place.
But now he couldnāt.
It wasnāt even that he wanted to go and confront those assholes; he had to. The match had been struck, and now the need burned something horrid.'
Iāve seen some people say that CharnJet getting together so quickly is out of character.
But, like, no it really isnāt
Yes, if you are strictly speaking about the novel and their progress within it ā then sure, it seems out of the blue.
However, for the characters as established in the show it makes complete sense
Charn has been interested in Jet since before they left for the community service trip. Jet intrigued him. Jetās free spirit and stubborn loyalty to both Khem and the village practices drew Charn to him. He took a punch for Jet without thought, he brightened watching Jet playfully clean with Khem and dance wildly at the festival. He found Jet endearing when his sight was returned, even though Charn couldnāt see the twins.
Charn knew he was interested in Jet BEFORE he learned about Da and Jin.
Jet is a free spirit. Heās completely unburdened by his fatherās status. Heās a devoted and loyal friend, not only to Khem but the village and Paran. Heās impulsive and heās stubborn and outspoken. Charn caught his eye when he first defended Khem ā again when he defended the spiritual practices ā and again when he took the punch directed toward Jet.
Jetās not used to being the one protected
So, when the opportunity arose, Jet took it and kissed Charn. He acted on impulse as he frequently does.
Charn, given both confirmation and an invitation, also took it.
They didnāt go from zero to a hundred, they went from 40 to a 100.
Never in my life has an ending left me crying to this extent. I genuinely feel so broken inside. WTF. How will I ever recover. It's been almost 5 hours since I finished the finale and I've been going through the 5 stages of grief where I'm fine one second and then crying the next.
Shuhe in all white looking so beautiful, Ziang dressed in his best black and gold looking powerful ā¦this was quite Literally their Wedding Night. The symbolism of Shuhe being walked by his only loved person into the arms of Ziang who was grinning ear to ear waiting for him with outstretched arms⦠Their moonlight stroll after where Ziangās promises were genuinely wedding vows ā¦this episode gutted me everything was so much worse than what i imagined š
