the absolute batshittery of this is the fact that subtly changing this in ways that will never matter to casual viewers just because it conveys an extremely subtle revision of history is so impressive, actually

1x05, when it actually happens, Stede has not yet realized that he is in love with Ed or that Ed is in love with him. 2x02, as Stede is recalling it with the new knowledge that they are in love now and were in love then, the tonal shifts are extremely subtle, but they’re there. Ed looks less confused and wounded and more emotionally open. Stede looks just a dust speck more dashing. he’s touching Ed for longer. this may very well be my favorite understated detail in these first three episodes

saw a post from the OFMD set designers about how Stede fixed up the ship once they got back (the furniture, the paintings, the walls!!) and I couldn't help but draw it. soft Stede to the rescue.
