I am getting tired of seeing cis straight people post about “love wins” or “same love” or “love is love”
you know, love doesn’t win today
50 people were massacred, individual people whose lives matter more than your palatable concept of love and gay marriage.
We are dying, and you still only care about the more digestible white-picket-fence relationships we have. We are dying and you still only care about the fun parts of being queer: pride, feeling like a “good” ally, gay marriage.
Let us mourn our vulnerabilities, our losses, or fears without shoving love, relationships, or rainbows in our faces. There are heavy realities about being queer, this is one of them. If you want to dance with us at pride, you better learn to understand and value the nitty gritty parts of us, of our community.
We do not have the same love. Does your love look over your shoulder when they kiss you or finds sanctuary in a night club or monitors itself for fear of harm? Stop insisting it is the same. We are not the same.
My love knows endless worry, it weathers endless attacks, it negotiates every space it occupies.
sometimes love wins, but not today.
The power of positive reinforcement. Jonathan Wall shared shared this story on Twitter just a few weeks before his 2016 graduation from Harvard Law. And he’s no ordinary graduate.
How lucky we are to be alive right now.
live right now; and just be yourself; it doesn’t matter if that’s good enough for someone else.
