Born and raised in Las Vegas. Her mother worked as a nurse and her father in a casino. She has an older brother and a younger brother. Her figure skating career was a huge financial burden for the middle class family. Meghan understood it very well and was always committed to succeed. She could not let her parents waste their hard earned money.
She has a difficult relationship with her brothers who resent her for being the centre of attention and putting a financial strain on the family.
Meghan used to work as a performer in ice skating shows having residency in Las Vegas (imagine a holiday on ice, disney on ice type of things).
Her highest achievement is a bronze medal at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships (Nationals) in 2017. She regularly qualifies for nationals and always qualifies for regional and selectional (tbh i spent hours trying to understand the US figure skating competition system and I’ve failed so I can’t be more precise than this. I don’t know where Nevada is supposed to be competing in the different leagues and all).
sexual harassment tw : She left her club due to a sexual harassment scandal. Several coaches were prosecuted and the club had to close. For years predatory behaviours had flourished without anyone putting a stop to it. Eventually a couple of figure skaters were brave enough to speak up and Meghan joined them in denouncing the inappropriate gestures, comments and actions that she had been a victim of. end of tw
After her club was closed, she needed to find a new one and decided to get a fresh start far away from Nevada. She wanted to try to make it on her own without relying on her parents. She hoped to leave the toxicity and bad memories behind.
She recently moved to Kingscrest and joined the Kingscrest Skating Club. She is disappointed that is not more friendly but at least it is safe.
She lives in a tiny flat in the city centre. The apartment is located above a shop on the main street. She is used to the busy life of Las Vegas and needed to have a sense of normalcy. This is why she pays an awful lot of money for so little space.
She works at the Community College as an administrator to pay her bills. It is not exciting but it puts food on the table.
When she is not at work, she spends all her time training. She has little to no personal life. It is partly a choice and partly because it is hard to make friends in a new place.
She hopes to qualify for nationals and eventually the next Olympics. She knows that she is getting old and needs to give everything because this might be her last shot.
