[text] You want to marry me?
[text] I don't not want it. I mean, I want to get married one day, not right now. And if we're together when the day comes that I want to marry you, then yeah. [text] I make no sense.

It was Valentine’s Day and to be honest, Tobias had never really cared much about that holiday, not until he realized it was actually a nice day to do someting special. Maybe their idea of special was turning out to be kind of different from other couples’, but still very important to him.
Toby looked at Amy when she spoke, nodding. “You go first?” He smiled at her, then kissed her forehead. “I’d go first but I actually don’t even know what to say? I just talk about past relationships and sex? That sounds easy.” He chuckled.
Amy grinned, wrinkling her nose at his for a moment before resting her head back against his chest. “It is easy. I think. Or not easy to put into words that you actually want to say, but easy to come up with.” She shook her head because she was rambling and not making sense and she knew it. “I’ll go first,” she said softly after a beat of silence.
“Relationships are easy. There was Kai who I was with the longest and who you know. Uh.. Ben, last year. And you.” It sounded so simple when she put it like that, but she knew that there was more to her past relationships than that. More that she could tell. “I’ve been in a couple of friend’s with benefits relationships too,” she added slowly, pulling away to glance at him. “Last year with Solo and one a couple of years ago. Just sex has always been um…I don’t want to say easier, but that’s kind of true, for me.”
Toby laughed a little at how Amy explained to him how easy it was. He sat up to look at her while she spoke. While she kept telling him about her relationships, he just looked at her with a smile. There was nothing to be worried about, at least he wasn’t worried. This was okay. “Mkay, now I go?” He wondered then looked at her with a big goofy smile.
“Relationships, right? Well, I’ve been in three, besides you. One of those was in high school and it wasn’t a big deal. The other one was after graduation, we dated for three years. Then I dated a girl from the fitness center for almost a year.” He told her simply. Tobias was all proud of himself. He really thought he was doing well in this. “As for sex, after my last girlfriend I’ve only had sex once, with this girl I went on a bunch of dates with but wasn’t really dating.” He tried to explain it. “But that was two years ago.” Would some people be embarrassed about not having sex for two years? Yeah, but Tobias wasn’t one of them. He was fine with it and he could surely trust that Amy would never be the person to make fun about that.

Valentine’s Day wasn’t the day that Amy thought she and Toby would be talking about relationships or sexual histories past, but life had a funny way of interrupting even the loosest of plans. Even with pink eye infecting her apartment, Valentine’s Day had turned out to be completely amazing. She knew that was in no small part because her guys was pretty amazing.
She curled on the couch, pressed against Toby’s side after Charlotte was happily encased in her room for the night. “Me first or you first?” she asked softly, tipping her head just slightly so she could look at him.

[text] I'm your brother. Messing with you is #2 on the job description. [text] Glad you're happy, man.
[text] I guess I just have to accept that, right..?
[text] I really am happy. Thank you, Cam.

My daughter found my old nerf guns and now she’s on a rampage. I’m taking cover in the closet.
The closet might sound like a good idea, but she’ll find you eventually.
roymthorne:
There is nothing more adorable yet terrifying than a 5 year old with a nerf gun.
I love 5 year olds and I love nerf guns. Whatever context this is, must’ve been awesome.
[text] I'm pretty awesome and she seems great so it was bound to happen. [text] Are you two a sickeningly sweet couple? Will I get plenty of opportunity to make fun of you?
[text] Fine, you are pretty awesome... Maybe.
[text] I guess you could say that, yeah... pretty sweet, maybe not that sickeningly though.
[text] I’m sure you have your ways to find opportunities to make fun of me.

Amy: It's a big deal for me too. It's as important as it is embarrassing and nerve wracking to talk about.
Tobias: It is embarrassing and never wracking, so please don't take it the wrong way if I get really nervous and start laughing.
[text] Grad school. Her being in love with you. Her daughter. Nothing much.
[text] How funny, we talk about that, too! :P
[text] I’m happy that you two are hitting it off.

Amy: My brother is an idiot who thinks he's funny, but I love him.
Amy: As unromantic as it is, that could be our valentine's conversation.
Tobias: Brothers are usually like that.
Tobias: Might be unromantic, but it's actually a big deal. For me, at least. It's good that we talk about it sooner rather than later.
[text] We text sometimes, she's funny. I like her. [text] Don't worry about me! I have my roommates and my coworkers and the girl from the bakery where I get all my goodies.
[text] She is funny, yeah. I’m glad you like her. What do you guys talk about though?
[text] Yeah, I’m not worrying.
[text] Dude don't feel bad! Not talking to you has led to some fun conversations with your girlfriend. Like did you know that she and her daughter know ASL? That's pretty awesome. Plus it's not like I don't talk to anyone.
[text] What?! Fun conversations with Amy?
[text] I did. I guess I forgot to mention that to you. Sebastian, Amy’s best friend, had a boyfriend who was mute. I suppose that’s why they know ASL.
[text] Well, I wouldn’t want you to not talk to anyone.
[text] Absolutely nothing. I just realized at lunch that we live in the same apartment building and talk to each other just as often as we did when we lived on opposite sides of the country.
[text] Now that you brought that up I kinda feel bad.
[text] We should talk more. I’m like, seconds away from your apartment.

Amy: Nothing. You don't have to say anything when I'm sappy like that.
Amy: Most things with my brother are awkwardly hilarious. That's just who he is.
Amy: I'd like to. But I think we have to have real conversation about our histories first. Because obviously Kai hasn't been it for me.
Tobias: I'll just smile, then.
Tobias: Your brother is funny.
Tobias: Of course, yeah, we can talk about it. I'm glad that you think it's important to do that, 'cause I think so, too.
[text] Dude. Hi.
[text] Hey, Cam!
[text] What’s up?
