loves things like: handkerchief in his pocket, newspaper stack on a shelf in the back of the kitchen, neatly clean car at all times, one worn baseball cap he refuses to toss despite it's fade and worn holes, a tote full of artwork from his kids growing up, black coffee with a splash of cream. frequents places like: cobblestone cafe on monday before sunrise with a plate of hot cakes and black coffee, the body shop on tuesday late evenings to get a quick workout in (he likes to bench press), the fill up to stock up on his favorite cinnamon gum and get gas for cheaper, the garden market to get his weekly groceries which usually only consists of enough meals for three days at home, from brush to canvas every other friday, silverpines golf course the one saturday a month he's off, pinecrest cemetery on sundays where he visits his parents bringing fresh flowers, rocky ridged hardware whenever he needs to touch up on paint or repairs around the restaurant.

Sabrina very much looked like a deer caught in the headlights when she realised she was being spoken to. She'd headed out for a casual walk, ending up near the coast, and then wandering onto the docks. Fishing was something she knew absolutely nothing about, nothing except the fact she'd occasionally see guys sitting on the side of the canal back home, just waiting. "There's only two problems there. I can't fish, and I definitely can't prepare whatever's on the end of there," she said with a laugh.

"Preparing is easy." Andy shrugged, a quick shake of his head as if to indicate that wasn't what he was worried about. "You can't fish though? Don't know how it's done?" he paused, looking at the other and clearing his throat. Though, he watched as the other pole began to jolt, nearly landing in the water which resulted in him tossing his own pole on the ground to grab the other one just before whatever was on the other end took it with them. Reeling it in, he tugged, pulled, only to see that there was nothing but plants from the bottom of the lake on the other end. What a disappointment. "That's -" he paused, shaking his head again, clearly disappointed. "Do you want to learn how to fish? I have time to teach you."

The bell above the cafe’s door gave a familiar little chime, blending with the low tones of conversation, the hiss of steaming milk, and the mellow indie playlist drifting through the speakers. It was another busy morning, and somehow the line never seemed to get any shorter. "I can help who’s next!” Jess brightly said, a warm smile coming easily over her face despite the rush. Her hands moved as if they were on autopilot – swirling names with pretty cursive onto cups, sliding fresh pastries into bags, and handling the register. No matter the line, there was always time for conversation. “Welcome in. What can I get started for you today? Feeling adventurous or going with a classic?” Jess asked, eagerly awaiting their order and any other convo that followed. Being behind the counter was her favorite place to be. Jess got to hear about first dates, new jobs, family recipes, fishing trips, and neighborhood gossip before it had even made its way around Merrock.

"I have to say -" Andy stated, digging for the loose cash he never put in his wallet from his pocket, eyes shifting up only once he'd located it. "You're always such a bright sight to see on these early Monday mornings." Andy stated. "I want the classic." he stated. "Black coffee and a plate of hot cakes." he nodded, his typical order never straying, even if there were so many other food options that he could try. He liked basic, and he liked what he liked. No point in changing when most of the time the cup of coffee was in his hand before he could complete his order with as frequent as he came out here. "Let's do those hot cakes in a to go container today though, just in case I have to dip before I finish today; Front Porch is a little more short staffed than normal already and we aren't even open for the day yet."

Glancing up from the book that he he was reading, Josh couldn't help but to let out a laugh when Anderson told him to go for the line, that he should take it even if it wasn't his. He let out a soft 'tsk' sound and cast his friend a lopsided grin, "are you encouraging me to steal, Mr. Fisher?" Having graduated a few years ahead of Anderson, but still close enough in age to have been friends, especially once grown up, it wasn't the first time that they had run into each other fishing. Definitely wouldn't be the last, either. "I'm actually watching it for the old guy who ... got hungry enough to want fish and chips," he said with a laugh, gesturing in that direction, "but good eye, maybe he'll split the spoils with me," he loosened the pole and began to pull back gently, and then with a little more force, reeling it in steadily. "Knowing my luck with the ocean, it's a boot. I feel like I'm always getting better catches at the lake."

"Steal? No." Andy laughed, side eying the other as he spoke the words aloud. "However, that line's been here for the last forty five minutes untouched. I'm not sure who it belongs to and I don't want to see someone miss out on a perfectly good catch because someone else abused their time." he shrugged, nodding as if to encourage him more. Yet, as the other explained to him that he was watching it for the older man that had left the pole unattended for fish and chips, Andy laughed. The irony of the situation humorous. "Well, I guess he got so excited about making it himself that he couldn't wait any longer." he chuckled. "If that's a boot on the other end of that line, though, I'm taking a picture to hang up in the diner because I swear that's stuff only happens in movies."

"Coming!" JJ rushed back towards the docks, showing his phone into the pocket of his jeans before he picked up the fishing pole. "Sorry, I had to take that call. An infant with colic. The mother called me in a panic, and I had to talk her through soothing her. If the crying doesn't stop in the next few hours, she'll call me back, and I'll have to make a house call." It was typical for JJ to make plans with his friends and get interrupted by a phone call about some sort of medical emergency. Even after he had left his job at the hospital, he made himself available by phone for any emergencies. "I hope I caught something good." He began reeling the line back. "It might take me a while to fillet and cook it, though. So, maybe it'll be tomorrow's lunch instead."

"You're good, man, you know I've got you if you're busy." Andy spoke, turning to look at his friend slowly, eye staying on both his friend's pole and his own. He knew that the other's line of work often kept him busy, and while Andy would love to be selfish and spend all of his free time with his friend uninterrupted, he understood that was nearly impossible. He himself had used his best friend's medical degree to his own advantage when his kids had been younger and Andy had been clueless. "I don't miss the colic stage." he admitted. "I love my kids, you know that and I'd do anything to go back in time but that stage -" he paused, shuttering as he did so. "-felt like I was an autopilot forever. I hope she gets some relief soon." he admitted, watching his own pole as he finally placed it on the ground, making sure the line wasn't too tight in the off chance that he got a bite. "You know if you need something quick, I'll take it back to the diner with me." he shrugged. "But it'll probably be even better for tomorrow's lunch, don't get me wrong."

Kellan usually fished with his brother, but Cage had been so busy with the baby, taking care of a fresh child rather than spending time out on the boat. Instead, he decided to head to the docks, try his hand on some saltwater fish for a change, there was still time to head out onto the boat. "It is mine," he said, jumping into action to reel in his line. "Unless it's either too small or too big for dinner, then it's free something else. Free feast for a family."

"Have at it." Andy nodded, watching his own line as if he were trying to summon something to bite. He personally had had a bit of a slower day out here. Casting his line out farther and farther each time as if he were hoping that going further out he'd have more luck. That hadn't worked for him yet though, unfortunately. Instead he'd just watched a handful of people that had been out here all day catch a fish or two before leaving, all while Andy patiently waited with no bites at all. "I will say, I'm beginning to think it's just not my day to be out here." he stated. "I've been here since before day break, which, isn't abnormal for me but it is abnormal that we're pushing this late in the day and still nothing." he admitted with a shake of his head. "Anything good?" he questioned as he reeled his own line in and recast, closer to the bank this time as that seemed to be where all the fish were biting today.

"Hm, that is such a basic answer," Erin agreed with a laugh. "But it's still true. You can't go wrong with a spicy California roll. Maybe some edamame on the side, and some boba to go with that. I think that's a perfect midday meal right there," she admitted with a rather firm nod. Before she stepped forward to place her order, though, she turned over to Andy and raised her eyebrow. "What do you mean you've never tried boba? I mean, how have you gone this long without trying it?" She asked, clearly surprised. "Come on, then. That just means you've got to try it today," she suggested, giving him a rather mischievous smile. "Yeah, I hate spring rolls. So, I think I'll pass. I'm not trying to be too adventurous today."

"It is." Andy laughed, shaking his head as he looked at the other. "I guess in a nutshell I'm a pretty basic guy." Andy laughed. Truthfully, he was known to be kind of picky; it had been a hot topic when he'd been married and the discussion of dinner was something he often dreaded. Not because he didn't want to share dinner with his family, but because Andy was a simple man. Meat and potatoes was often enough a valid meal in his eyes, not to mention it was usually something he'd eat at the diner anyways as that's where ninety percent of his free time landed him anyways; enjoying a meal in the corner booth of the diner in between shifts. Yet, as the other explained that you couldn't go wrong with a spicy California roll, Andy felt his smile widen. "You know, that's exactly why I said it." he laughed with a shrug. It hadn't been at all, it was just exactly what he liked. The raised eyebrow of the other made him smile, shrugging before he spoke. "I can't say I live on the adventurous side when it comes to food." he admitted. "The only thing I like in my drinks is extra ice, so, the idea of Boba has always made me a little queasy." he spoke. "But lucky for you I have time off today and the desire to be adventurous." he laughed. "What type should I get?" The question was one he was asking more to himself than to anyone else, really. Sometimes having a lot of options overwhelmed him; but he guessed he'd have to get over that hurdle to enjoy his adventure today.

"Something's tugging at that line there." Andy spoke, head nodding towards the fishing pole that had been abandoned. Truthfully he hadn't been paying enough attention to know if the person he were talking to was even the person that had left it there. All he'd cared about was spending an evening on the docks, fishing to his hearts content. The amount of striped bass, Atlantic mackerel ant bluefish he'd caught in these waters through the years was probably more than he could ever actually count on one hand, but, something about it had always been relaxing. "If it's not yours, you should take it anyways; free dinner for the night depending on what's on the other end of that line." he stated, reeling in his own line and casting it back out, farther this time.

Standing in front of the food truck, Erin stared at the menu before turning over to the person next to her. "You know, I really don't know what I want to order. Any ideas?" She asked, shrugging before she turned back to glance at the menu once again. "Man, I do love a good boba and the weather's perfect for it. But I do want to grab a bite to eat before heading back to the office. I still have a long afternoon ahead of me." Not that she was complaining. Erin loved being able to get out of her office every now and then, especially to get some fresh air now that it was summer. Today was just one of those days, and a comforting meal was exactly what she needed.

"This is probably the most basic answer, but, you can't go wrong with their spicy California roll." Andy stated, hand scratching at his chin as if in thought. "I will say I've never tried boba, so I'm not much help in that department, but, anything refreshing is never bad in this weather." Sure, the weather had been in the mid seventies, perfect year round weather in Andy's opinion, however, he had always been known to be one that preferred the temperatures in the winter, even with the snow that usually came along with it. "I've also heard really good things about their spring rolls, but I'm not a big fan of the texture of them myself." he admitted. "What do you usually go for? You want something different or just being really indecisive?"
